You are correct about the steepness. Bullets will ricochet instead of terminate if the berm isn't vertical enough. Looks good Chris.

On high use ranges 30-34 degrees is around the sweet spot for the slope of the bullet catch/stop bank. It has the best capacity for capturing rounds whilst being able to be maintained. It also offers the best resistance to weathering and scalloping from bullet strike.

Like how smooth the dozer left the ground after dozing it. Left a nice finish for grass to grow.

After watching both the big track loader and the off road rock truck working on your last few jobs, I would say that those investments turned out to be well worth the time, effort and cost that you had to invest to get them operating right for you. That track loader can really push up stumps and the rock truck sure took those big oversize loads of muck real well. I have been following you since early 2009 and I can truthfully say that I am happy to see you doing so well on your own. Albeit, I do miss your side-kick Tim being on the job with you, he really seemed to be a good hardworking assistant.

Range is going to look great when you are done. The original range was a little sad and questionable in my mind. Would love to have a range on our retirement property. I shoot competitively and would love to have at least 300 yards, 500 would be better for practice and load development. But sadly I would be lucky to get 100 yards. Anything would be better than having to lug all my equipment to the club to shoot.

I used my Kubota L4060 Tractor to build a Gun range with great success. Probably better than a Bulldozer could - only due to the mobility of a tractor and the ability to raise dirt up high and dump it in big piles. Though having a Kubota KX080, my little dream excavator, would be superior to anything else when it comes to building range berms.

I love that underbelly video! Am I correct that it shows you making fine adjustments (up and down) to blade height, or is it just the way the ground level is? I have never dozed. I have cut and made mining roads with cat 988, 980 and 960 as well as smaller projects with bobcat. God I miss moving dirt and rock! Muscle memory is a funny thing realized in watching your videos. After 12 years moving dirt and aggregate, and now over that driving truck. When you are pushing berm back I can still feel it in the seat of my pants in what the machine wants, especially when being a little to aggressive and having to back up, then next cut a little less aggressive.
