    Best way to troll a Star wars fan like Scar is to confuse it with Star Trek 😂 Something like "Oh I LOVE Star Wars. Beam me up Scotty, haha so iconic, right? Live long and prosper Mr. Spock." that would drive Scar insane. 😂😂😂 Or "Idk what's the difference between Star wars and Star trek. Literally the same movie. You sure those aren't sequel?" 😂

      It's the Star trilogy. StarGate, StarWars and finally the StarTrek. I love it when O'Neill teleports Yoda in the middle of the Romulan ship. That scene is the best.

      "The prequels were so much better than the original trilogy." "Return of the Jedi ruined the franchise." "Han Solo is a stupid character." "Jaws was John Williams' best soundtrack." All of these would turn a Star Wars fan, such as myself, rabid. The Star Trek trolls don't bother me (also a Trek fan).

    If you auto add your own stamp then it’s like a return to sender. If something happens and the system glitches and it doesn’t get picked up by the intended recipient, it’ll get picked up by your own mailbox when it cycles around. And if it does get sent appropriately, then they have a return stamp, and identification, of who initially sent the mail.

    • @caltheuntitled8021
      @caltheuntitled8021 3 месяца назад +19

      But that’s also handing out free stamps. If every piece of sent mail gives out a stamp, the number of stamps in circulation will never run out, so no one will ever buy them.

    • @superbelo
      @superbelo 3 месяца назад +5

      I think the best way to do that is add a second dropper lower down that drops the card of the user, so it's completely independent of the sender, but everytime they send mail (via clicking the button) it drop one of their cards and adds it to the system. So if it's at scars base, it's just a dropper loaded with scars stamps.

      Would two stamps go through the hopper system quickly enough when the mail system is trying to read the stamp? One of the stamps might get stuck in the system and mess up the next minecart.

    • @WhatIsMyPorpoise
      @WhatIsMyPorpoise 3 месяца назад

      Perhaps then, this could be a kindness you can offer to the person you communicate with. Putting in your own stamp both informs them who put in the mail, but also that you’d like a reply with haste.
      Automatic systems are only vital if the reception’s handling is also going to be automatic.

    Undelivered mail that passes the post office rail the first time should get hit with some item that marks it for removal the next time it passes the post office rail. If present, you can pull the cart off and send it to the post office. Will give Perl an excuse to interact with other hermits.

    16:00 Tango, I took my 10YO son in January to go see the extended edition of Fellowship in the movie theater. I also took my mom. It was one of the last outings I took with my mom before she went in the hospital in the middle of January and it was kind of for her birthday. Very special movie for my son. He is in the middle of reading Return of the King right now.
    Two Towers part 4 was a SLOG that took him six months.
    I saw Fellowship in the theaters in December 2001 when I was 19, and immediately went home to read my grandma’s books. What a time to be alive.

    For seasonal stamps *if* you are willing to add custom recipes is to the server datapack you could set up a crafter at each mail box and use a recipe like [(seasonal) _hermit_ stamp stamp] + [magic stamp token] --> [used _hermit_ stamp] + [magic stamp token] and switch to using "used _hermit_ stamp" as the filter item. (Note btw this recipe would preserve the number of iron nugets so to make it less cheaty)

    🤔Just let people include their own stamp with product payment when using mail order, correlates to “shipping charges”. Done. 😉 Same with correspondence requesting response…correlates to “self-addressed, postage paid, return envelope”. Done. This allows for anonymous mailing, as well. I think just discounting their own stamps to each Hermit would be the easiest way to handle the identification, plus would encourage the use of the system.🤷‍♀️

    Troubleshooting questions for the mail: what happens if someone forgets to put a stamp in at all but still presses the button? What happens if they put a container that’s not a shulker in the shulker place (eg a normal chest or barrel)? What happens if they throw the shulker and/or stamp down the hole instead of placing it, or place the shulker in the stamp dispenser - and then press the button? What happens if they press the button without putting either a stamp or a shulker box in place? (Can you tell I have had… a certain amount of experience… with end users finding new and exciting ways to misunderstand instructions?)

      no stamp = doesn't send.
      if they throw a shulker in, they have to go in and get it (scar did this)
      no stamp, no shulker, nothing happens even if button is pressed

    • @danatronics9039
      @danatronics9039 3 месяца назад

      My guesses based on studying the mailbox redstone system:
      1. If someone forgets the stamp entirely, the minecart will cycle forever. @jkrigelman suggested that the post office rail add some junk item (like an iron nugget) so that if the same cart passes by again it'll detect the junk item and divert the cart to the post office.
      2. If you put a non-shulker tile entity in the outbox slot, it won't do anything because it won't get broken by the piston.
      3. If they throw the shulker down the hole it *should* mostly work, except that the shulker might arrive in the minecart before the stamp does. I don't know if that'll cause issues. If they throw the stamp down the hole I don't know what'll happen.
      4. If they press the button with no outbox or stamp, it might do nothing, or it might dispense an empty minecart, bringing us back to problem 1.

      @dbseamz 3 месяца назад +1

    My suggestion for the whole "return to sender / delivery order" process would be that it's not automatic. Don't have the mail system handle it at all; instead, have the factory handle it on incoming mail. That way, Hermits can use the mail system anonymously, but delivery orders still have a return to sender feature. The order of processing operations becomes important: have the customer include in their package up to 7 orders, diamonds, and their return stamp. Then you can process incoming orders like so:
    1. Unload the incoming shulker package into a minecart, and send that cart along a sorter first.
    2. Sort out the order items; every order sorter should set the same latch to indicate that some order was placed, regardless of which it was. Each sorter should also flip an item-specific latch to unlock the "delivery hopper" for the item requested.
    3. Then, at the end of the sorter, route the cart to a diamond unloader that just sits there until all diamonds are unloaded. If the order latch is not set, just reroute these diamonds into a hopper that, further down the track, points back into the cart to refund them; if the order latch is set, pull the diamonds into your profits chest. When the profits-extracting hopper has any items pass through it, set a latch to indicate "payment processed".
    4. At this point, the only thing left in the cart should be a stamp. So roll the cart over a free hopper to pull the stamp out and re-use it for the return trip.
    5. Roll the cart past the "delivery hoppers", where the only unlocked ones are the ones ordered, which will place the ordered item into the cart.
    6. Lastly, bring the cart over and dump its contents into a shulker loader using the original shulker box. Combine that with the extracted stamp and send the package on its way through the mail system. This should also reset all the latches and send the next queued order cart through, if there is one.
    That should handle every case, except two: (1) if they don't put a single return stamp in the box; or (2) if they put anything other than orders, diamonds, and one stamp in the box. But you can detect both of those by checking if 0 or 2+ items filter through the stamp extractor; handling it is another story. (It also would break if they forget the stamp but put exactly one invalid item in the box instead.... so it's not Scar-proof 😂)
    Obviously I didn't include the system to count the diamonds and compare to the total cost of the order... that's been left as an exercise for the reader 😉

    If the "who sent it" only really applys to the shop.
    Price could include "shipping fee" of the hermits own stamp.
    So in the shulkerbox, they put what they order, how much order costs, and then their own stamp for shipping the order (its their personal stamp)
    I mean, since the hermits are getting their own stamps in the bundles, no point in mailing to themselves. (They can but why?) So it gives a use.
    Since words hard will give example.
    Tango orders sand.
    He puts a paper saying what wants, diamonds to pay shop for sand, a Tango Stamp... and sends it all in the box.
    So whos at the delivery shop, would see who wants what.
    If wanting to automate the WHOLE process (like a robot getting the packages from the shops to send too) then idk... this sujestion still needs worker at the delivery center lol.
    And if thats an issue... door dash it 😅 if someones in shopping district and sees a Light on. (Someone placed an order for something in shop)
    One diamond to play 'pick up person' and currior it as needed lol idk

    They make round pop filters that basically sit around the mike. You can even do one DIY mode. Just get some copper wire, make a small cage around and put nylon or lycra fabric around it, encasing the mike in. That said, they're so cheap, it's easier to buy. Surround pop filter should start the search on the old gurgle. Variations to the search are "wraparound" or "horseshoe". I think the "MWS-POP" is a decent one. Low profile, pretty small in size, perfect for streaming purposes.

    Auto shopping sounds like a required order form - sheet of paper named per stack of item, that would have to feed a “register” with a debit (sticks equivalent count for diamond cost) per item so cost in diamonds can then be tallied against it in the register, then forward the order sheets to the “warehouse” to be pulled & loaded into a shulker, & it would require the postage to be prepaid (stamp included).
    The real question is timing a timeout clock to determine insufficient payments & return order to sender or I h a notice that payment was insufficient.

    For the mail-shulker-naming function:
    Could you add in a small redstone system/contraption that has the Hermit’s name on it and gets sent out automatically after they send their package?
    So if Scar wanted to send you a package, he would send it as normal and then hit a button which would send a small Paper/other item (his stamp) would get shot out and follow his package like a puppy. It would end up in the mailbox directly behind the package, kind of like a signature.
    If you did not want to sign it, no worries don’t hit the button.
    Ohhh… I just watched where you explained all that in the stream… I was thinking ahead and commenting 😬 sorry. It’s amazing that you are breaking the carts and the whole system is working flawlessly, that is so amazing!! The only thing I can think of is if you didn’t break the minecarts, then they could be named. Or if there was a way for them to be named/coded in such a way to retain sender info.
    Anyways, what an interesting puzzle. It sure is the first of its kind, I’m sure you will get tons of redstoners to put their brains to it. What you guys have built is so awesome!! Keep up the great work!! 😁

    Redstone isn't a programming language, it's more analogous to electronics, specifically how we used to build with discrete components and integrated circuits. Now, everyone just solves their projects with an SBC; you end up doing more programing and less external circuitry. Complex redstone projects get very bulky because Minecraft doesn't have a RaspberryPi block.

      It can be both, depends how you use it. You can built the program and the computer solely from redstone. There are computer in MC vanilla that have been built. They don't require input other than starting whatever task's been asked of them (multiply or divide or whatever). There's even a computer screen built in MC (i'm pretty sure, also vanilla). You ask it to display something and it uses redstone programming to display it. The signal lengths being what make up the program. With the introduction of these newest blocks... i expect computer in MC tech to go even further. That copper light, for sure will become the newest thing if it's part of the update (i'm not sure of it, only saw it on Impy's stream).

      programming and "electronics" as u call it are not separate. what do you think programming actually does? commands in lower-level languages, like assembly, are pretty much 1:1 with the circuits they control... so redstone is a lot like a block version of assembly. def a programming language lol

    For the villager issue, it's probably entities pushing each other into solid blocks during chunk loading/unloading. It happens quite often with passive mob farms in fenced-in areas, as mobs get freed by being pushed into the fence blocks and then are able to push out the other side once pathfinding takes hold. With true solid blocks like stone, the villagers in your case just suffocate. Luckily since there's only 3 mobs per cell, it's not as common for them to push each other at the wrong time.

    If I were trying to implement return addresses, I would have customers put one of their own stamps _inside_ the shulker envelope, and then filter it out with Impulse hopper sorters when unloading the shulker at the Amazon warehouse so it can be reused in the return minecart. That way, you could also send Amazon orders as gifts to other players by putting their stamp as the return address on your order.

    Tango, while listening to this stream of yours, I managed to "bugfix" my bamboo to mosaic block converter, to turn it into a 1 wide tileable form. The issue is, that now the crafters are not in a straight column with just a dropper or so in between them, because making the bamboo plank to mosaic block part required putting 2 crafters next to one another on the same level. (if I wanted it to be tileable.)
    My not tileable design had them all in a straight column, but had issues powering crafters in the wrong column as well at times, breaking the system on occassion, with uneven input in the columns. I guess I could just leave out automatically crafting stairs and slabs out of the full blocks, as those would take up a ton of space vertically (Adding at least 3 extra blocks to the build even with the non-tileable design I managed to put together), and let's face it, turning specific blocks into slabs/stairs is usually done on-site where we build. Also, adding automatic shutoff switch to the slices is a massive pain at times, especially if they're not the same size. Technically we could just pick the largest sized slice, and buildthe shutoff switch that way so it can go around all the junk in that, and circles around a ton of air for no good reason for the smaller slices, but that'd look like a ton of wasted space, hence I like keeping it close to the cirquitry as much as possible.

    Very little known fact: babies claim the beds when they're bred which is why you need 4 beds (2 for parents and one for each baby bred during the day). They have about a 50% chance of losing the beds at 18:00 hours before the player is allowed to sleep and about 50% chance of losing the beds at ≈19:00 after players can sleep. So if you or server mates sleep at 18:32, the babies may not lose the beds. This can cause the parents to have anger particles on the first or second breed the following day depending on how many beds were lost. Bed spamming like you have done will prevent this, but you need blocks between them since the parents and/or babies can't path to them and therefore can't claim them.

    • @madman2572
      @madman2572 3 месяца назад

      (if it wasn't clear, the babies will only lose their beds during the night when they fail to be able to path to them)
      I'm not sure what happens if you move them into unloaded chunks before the bed is lost but I'd guess they don't lose it since it's the villager AI that unclaimed the bed, not the bed unclaiming itself.

  • @jasonpenick7498

    My guess on breeding: 9 Blocks is not far enough to not claim a bed (for some reason I want to say I read somewhere its 40+ blocks).
    The babies have claimed the bed, and the villagers can not breed because there are no "free beds" that can be pathed to.

    • @jasonpenick7498
      @jasonpenick7498 3 месяца назад

      And before you, or someone else mentions it. It may have worked multiple times before because you were moving the babies before they were claiming the beds. Villagers do not claim beds until its time to sleep; the parents make sure there are enough unclaimed beds when breeding, but the babies do not immediate claim them; this is why you can end up with more villagers than beds sometimes as the new babies have not claimed the bed, so the parents think there is still room.

    Had this idea back in decked out.
    You should add a "refill" rail track that loops endlessly in the nether side of things to refill players with iron and chests.
    then you just have 1 place to load everything.
    Could also have another that collects the "used" stamps and returns them back to the post office automatically.

    Just because i could see someone forgetting to put the stamp 'cough' scar 'cough' or other factors preventing it from going to its destination.
    Have a counter via activator rail, basically every time a cart goes over it counts 1 nugget, ( drains slowly, aprox drains 1 nugget every few min,) so if it ever builds up to 3 nuggets -/+ (3-5loops) it automatically sends a signal to make the cart turn into the post office, so even if the cart misses the turn via lag or other reasons, it will atleast go into the post office.
