  • How to Prepare for National Guard Basic Training - Recruit Sustainment Program
    Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) is a program of the United States Army National Guard designed to introduce new recruits to the fundamentals of the U.S. Army before they leave to Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT). The motto is "Paratus Preliator" (prepared warrior). The program is based on the three traits of combat (Mentally Prepared - Administratively Correct - Physically Fit) and seven traits of character (Loyalty - Duty - Respect - Selfless Service - Honor - Integrity - Personal Courage). And is the best program for recruits trying to learn more about what Basic Training (BCT) will be like.
    In RSP there are five phases: Red phase (the person's first drill), White phase (from their second drill to the person's drill one month before they ship to BCT), Blue Phase (the person's last drill before they ship to BCT), Green phase (for the recruits who are split-shippers who have completed BCT and have come back to finish their senior year of high school or of college and are waiting to ship to AIT), and Gold phase (they are now soldiers and have completed both BCT and AIT; this is their last drill with RSP before they go to their home unit). While at RSP recruits do various training that will prepare them for BCT. Red, white, blue phase include but are not limited to the 1-1-1 PT test which consists of a 1-mile run, 1 minute for push-ups, and 1 minute for sit-up. Green phase includes but is not limited to the 2-2-2 PT tests which consists of a 2-mile run, 2 minutes for sit-ups, and 2 minutes for push-ups. Generally, RSP recruits undergo an Army Physical Fitness Test at every drill except for those in Gold Phase. Each PT test scores according to the soldier's gender and age. This must be passed before the recruit can ship to BCT.

    Don't sweat basic people. Just stay under the radar and make it out. You might think about quitting but don't. First, you will regret it and you will stay about as long as everyone else graduation. Last but not least, enjoy it! Now that I am back in college, I can't bond like the people I trained with. I miss it actually even though I was ready to leave so badly!

    • @determined919

      +ilya Kozlov For active duty, you can use the GI to get college completely paid for. For the guard you can get state tuition assistance and use the reserve GI bill that mainly just pays for room and board.

      +ilya Kozlov I graduated from basic a year and a half ago. If you know exactly what you wanna do as a civilian go guard. If you are just looking for direction in life, it wouldnt hurt to go active. Feel free to ask any questions, its my day off lol

    Just so there is no confusion, there is no National Guard basic. This video is referring to RSB, which can better prepare you for what to expect when you actual get to Basic. Active and Reserve components go to same actual Basic Training.

      @alexmiller1016 7 лет назад +4

      wyatt- im Private chad Bell i'm with the Pennsylvania national guard.. to answer your questions. ill start with MEPS. to pass meps, all you need to do is have a clean urine sample and no criminal record, you can have a record but nothing to extreme! and be able to do basic exercises! then to pass RSP you need to just listen to what they say, and write down notes on everything and pass tests to get through each phase of rsp. then your AIT comes after basic but i wouldn't worry too much on that right now!1 good luck to you!

    • @72marshflower15

  • @gamonmiguel05

    My question is what's the difference between joining the National Guard being full duty & being in the Army full duty. What's the Asvab score to be a national guard & an MP??

    • @oumartraore2085
      @oumartraore2085 8 лет назад +9

      +gamonmiguel05 Its not full duty,its active duty.The National Guard is the army reserve component.the army reserve means part time,so you work in the Army once a month,and do training once a month plus two times a year,but the best part of army reserve is that you get to stay close to home,and live where ever you want in the USA.Active Duty means you work full time so you work everyday twenty four seven,but you still get a 30 day break each month though,also when your're in the active duty,you can't live where ever you want in the USA,you have to live on base,or have a house but close to the base.So to answer your question,the difference between the National Guard,and the Army active duty,is that the National Guard is an army reserve component,every state has a National Guard,so the state that you live in,you can join that guard,when your're in the Guard,you work in that state,and the National Guard provides humanitarian aid,so when people in your state needs help because of the snow,or a famous person is coming,or because of a flood,or anything they need help for you receive that call and help,and the National Guard helps police when there are riots as well,the National Guard has a steady pay,and steady jobs,but you will still be deployed at some point.Army active duty is working full time,in the Army active duty,you can do stuff like combat,medical,all those cool jobs,you even get to live on base,or get your own house for free if you do have a spouse that time you join,and you're single you'll live in a barracks,when you serve in active duty,you get paid alot of money,and receive more benefits,then the National Guard,active duty lets you deploy anywhere in the world,and when people needs you the most,you can be there to help.Also there is no score on the Asvab to be in the National Guard,the Asvab is separate,so if you want to be in the National Guard,then you have to do that Asvab to enlist on the National Guard,but the minimum score to get into the National Guard is 31.Also to enlist in the US Army the score is 31 as well,the reason being they are the same score is because the National Guard,and the US Army are the US Army but is different,but the score to become an Military Police is 91.Here is the National Guard,and the US Army: www.goarmy.com www.nationalguard.com

    • @Poke_Ty

      In NG, unlike other brenches, you become a soldier as soon as you swear in and train up until you go to basic. So really, even if its one month away you might have one drill before you go to basic. It helps a lot too.

    • @heatseek4890
      @heatseek4890 5 лет назад +1

      CC Ryder Haha no, anyone who enlists in the NG has to drill with RSP every month until their ship date.

      The national guard basic training is the same as the army, they are set to protect the nation from mostly domestic attacks. Don’t disrespect these heros

    • @connorsurrency2452

      not to mention they still have to do training just as much and if you're national guard special forces you're on call so you can be called at any point and regular guard or special forces guard still deploys. hell they occupied 18 provinces in Iraq and Afghanistan during the war on terror around 2006 and 2007

    3 Tennessee National Guards died this month from heat exhaustion during desert training. Completely preventable and the NG has to be held accountable. The instructors sat in the shade and kept cool while people were losing their lives! Story will be swept under the rug and the responsible party will continue to push people to far for “practice” smh. Don’t sign up. You just might be killed by your own country for practice.

  • @bradleyrains5967

    Why do you say National guard basic training? Just say Army basic training cause we all train together.
