An homage to Hunter S. Thompson based on a "Gonzo The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson" excerpt. www.behance.net/gallery/the-ED... piotrkabat.com
For those who want to know what this is from, it’s the final few pages of “Hell’s Angels” which was Hunter’s break in journalism and what he wrote before Fear and Loathing
I just read hells angels a few months back and it was one of the best books I’ve ever read. I definitely want to read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but I heard it was a hard read. Hunter S. Thompson was truly one one of a kind.
@@xryan94x2 Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is pretty short and no more challenging than Hell's Angels. Curse of Lono is one of his harder reads due to the jumbled, pieced-together nature of it, but I highly recommend it as well.
this is a pure and holy sermon for the sake of the motorcycle cult. hunter was goddamn treasure. buy a bike. get something old and cheap. work on it, love it, and “screw it on.” motorcycles and their maintenance are the best form of guided meditation.
*Incredible experience put into words for a motorcycle's edge on an endless road, under a boundless sky, sound waves piercing the darkness of a limitless ocean*
"And that's when the strange music starts" this reminds me of so many rides I had as a young man on some cheap, hairy old hack being pushed to its limits and beyond...."no room at all for mistakes"
Transcendence... If you live you take risks. Life itself is a risk, death is secure. Taking risks is falling to the depth and rising to hights.... Amazing video ! Well done !
Speaking from the point of view as someone who is completely obsessed with motorcycles I'm in love with this it really dives into the inner working of motorcycle maniacs mind hunter is a poet in this instance and I don't think many truly see this while watching
Looks like other people's eyeballs are tougher than mine. The only time i reached 65mph without missing my goggles was when I was filled up with painkillers after a bout of lumbago. Good that the below 100mph music is pretty awesome, too.
I’ve gone over the edge. It’s just a lot of terror and then blackness. You wake up after, but you’re never sure if you really woke up. Then again, maybe that’s just guilt talking.
But, what if what we are dealing with, here, people, is not something so simple as a line... what if it's the edge of a polygon? Then what, mr smart guy?
@@r.a.8861 I don't, really. It's referring to a set of conditions that determine control over a motorcycle or the loss thereof. Come to think of it again, it's not even sharp enough to be called an "edge".

Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas wasn’t such a tough read.
Loved it.
This video was great!
Are hells angels and fear his 2 only good books
"That's when the strange music starts..." Got chills
this will forever be the single coolest video on youtube
What a beautiful, most perfect illustration. Hunter would be proud. Kudos to whoever the artist is.
its depp
@@user-rv7nx7jy8b I was referring to the illustrator. Yes, Depp read it out loud, but who digitally created the cartoon?
Hunter s Thompson made it my life's work to pursue the edge, I will make it there someday
i'm seven years late but wow , if this isn't the sickest animation i've seen in a long time . you deserve way more views , friend
isn't this the best video.in youtube history ?
That was awesome. Shame this hasn’t gotten more recognition. I wonder how many more hidden gems like this are out there.

Taking risks is falling to the depth and rising to hights.... Amazing video ! Well done !
Not when you ride both roads, that’s when boredom enters.
Is there a version of this where Depp reads the whole book?
after 8 years n still got 37k views.. this is a hidden masterpiece
This is an amazing homage to Hunter! Incredibly Gonzo style my friend. Love it all
This is incredible. Well done.
I did not expect to find you here
Those who are still living have actually been to the edge, just never over it.
Yeah good point my man!
just a second let me save this video to my THE GREATEST PLAYLIST
THAT WAS FUCKING COOL , HUNTER WOULD BE IMPRESSED.
This is one of those times where I legitimately can't tell if this is Johnny or Hunter.
Speaking from the point of view as someone who is completely obsessed with motorcycles I'm in love with this it really dives into the inner working of motorcycle maniacs mind hunter is a poet in this instance and I don't think many truly see this while watching
First thing that came to my head is how well he illustrated a night ride along the coast, fantastic author truly.
This deserves way more views. Seriously underrated. I like the animation style. Hunter would be impressed.
Can't thank you enough for this!
I truly felt that! 💜
I love your artstyle!
Amazing video!
Great job!
Absolutely gonzo. Awesome.
Amazing graphics!
Excellent 👍
Why is no one talking about that this is actually johnny depps voice
Johnny did Hunter better than Hunter.....they both knew it.

I hope your lumbago gets better.
@@213213yoyo Sorry for the late answer, for some reason I was not notified about this reply.

Guilt over what?
Did you animate this? I love the style
This is Johnny Depp's voice right? Where did you get it? Is there a bigger cut?
Damn straight!
now this is epic
What is the second song in this video? Great job by the way, I love the audio mixing on this.

@@DeadlyGamingKing what about the first song?
@@homeofthemad3044 I think it's Gonzos Honest Run by David Schwartz
@@DeadlyGamingKing Thank you

I remember the Edge, as far back as the age of 4.
what a drive
Is that narrated by Johnny Dep?
The “strange music” is a song called Haunted Heart by Jo Stafford
3 wheels out one wheel holding you to the earth......... the edge
wow
this feels like a david fincher film
Is this a metaphor for living on the edge? Always seeking adrenaline and the 'peace' it brings?
Anyone know the song?
What book? Is that Depp reading it?
1:42 "strange music starts playing"
What’s the name of the song used here?
Kino
I feel rangos vibe from this, and he sounded a bit like Johny Depp
whats the first song?
It's called, fittingly enough, Gonzos Honest Run by David Schwarz. ruclips.net/video/MaJqOr2corQ/видео.html

This edge is not just curved, but moving, too. You can only guess where it is, and I don't think I really want to know exactly where it is.
@@PortCharmers how do you know what he is talking about? In terms of what he means by "The edge?"
