    This video makes sense, and I appreciate the knowledge you're providing. I cannot wrap my head around one particular strategy you mentioned.
    If you are a portrait photographer and your goal is to use social media to gain a following that consists of potential leads, how can creating tutorials to teach photography skills advance that goal?
    I have been a consumer of tutorial style content since I started photography and have never considered hiring any of the photographers for a photoshoot. This is because I discovered their content in search of photography knowledge, rather than searching for photography services.
    There is a disconnect between the problem I am trying to solve (how to use social media to gain portrait photography clients) and the solutions I am receiving (how to use photography to be a content creator and gain a social media following).

    My account on Instagram is so algorithmically buried that not even my following sees my posts. Growth completely stopped for me two years ago and I constantly receive messages from people wondering why they never see my posts in their feed. Even despite my work containing so many aspects you went over in this video. Different niches and value. One huge similarity between you and I is how you combined creating awesome photos with your interest in sneakers to give you a baseline for your business. Mine is hats (New Era), and despite being connected with a few big brands and stores, being paid or monetizing the work has never happened. It's to the point where I blame myself constantly for the inability to be savvy. Not just in that specific niche, but in general business-wise. Keeps me up at night.

    I think what I learned is the whole time I just want people in the community to cherish some of the photos I’ve made and for the photos to live on. The hard part for me to except was that maybe I’m being lazy. I use my full time job and having a family a excuse for not making creative reels and such. I feel more like a dancing monkey vs actually creating something with value. But I think I’ll try my best and go for it and whatever happens, happens.

    Yeah this is true but if your goal is to grow as a fine art photographer and to sell more prints then I wonder if posting your photos on instagram and social media is useful. Maybe this isn't so useful since I don't know how many serious art buyers and collectors are using instagram or social media to find new artists to add to their collections, I wonder what the data is on that and what the conversion is from what you post on social media and how many of those lead to prints of those photos being bought.

      I talk about this in my upcoming course but focus on telling the story of what you’re doing online. Not just pictures. Go out to shoot make reels, RUclips, or write good captions with carousel posts. Become a brand outside just your pictures and make things that relate to people growing like you. And try to use your skills to find clients who align with the value you can provide that this time

    it may not grow your business that way *ALONE* but it is an easier way for people to find you or see your work, posting at night might help to because most see posts later in the night, asking friends for advice may help on healthy criticism but the point is to see your progress & have fun … you never know who might see it might have 500 followers for years then one day earn 1000 more you know. just be happy with what you’re doing, don’t spam but be consistent & nothing wrong with asking personal circles to share love on your posts too. also don’t be afraid to show others love too sometimes people won’t respect your work because they don’t like you. you can’t please em all just please yourself be clever & creative

    It’s all good and well using Instagram to sell or promote skills or values, but not everyone wants to use or experience Instagram in this way. I’m a photographer, I’m not a maker of reels nor am I interested in watching them. I like to share and look at photographic work I find inspiring. Instagram can surely exist in a variety of capacities without mutual exclusion of certain users. What’s wrong with just wanting to share work and gain feedback and interaction from likeminded users? If I’m not mistaken, Instagram is a ‘social’ platform, or is supposed to be.

      From my own point of view, you need to invest smartly if you need the good things of life. so far i've made over $255k in raw profits from just 6 months into the market from my diversified portfolio strategy and i believe anyone can do it you have the right strategy, mutual funds takes long time but investing smartly is the key for short term. Most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.

I can correctly say she's worth her salt as a financial advisor as her diversification skills are top notch, because i see that in her results as my portfolio grows by averages of 10 to 15% on a monthly basis, unlike i can say for my IRA which has just been trudging along, my portfolio just mirrors what she trades and not just on some particular industries of my choosing.

    If you want to grow fast and make real connections get out and become a community based photographer/creator. Once you build real life connections you can grow your photography business. It’s easy just be sociable and not the lone wolf no one cares about anymore. I see it all the time…the big influence in the car community who knows it all and is great but no one sees them as a serious creator because they are seen as leaches riding coat tails. I guarantee if you went out made new friends and networked it would work so much better for you. Stop spending money and start making it. 😊

    I think one of the best routes a photographer could go down to give extra oomph to their work is to be a RUclipsr or produce video content alongside. No offence but the images posted by yourself and pretty much every other RUclipsr who focuses on photography are not jaw dropping, they are like most other people's work you see on other platforms such as Instagram etc. however you get an audience through your other work. So your popularity and growth stems from here more than your work. I went to a talk with Sean Tucker and he said without RUclips he thinks his follow count may be around 10k on Instagram and I think I agree again his work is very much the same as everything else yet he has another layer to it. You need something else and can't rely on photography alone because there are many many fantastic photographers out there who will never be known because they just share images and the chances of being noticed are slim. It's sad in a way but just the way the photography game on social media works.

    • @RanftEvan
      @RanftEvan  Год назад +3

      Yeah 100% the point of this video. I grew a following on IG about 30k before RUclips during the the period I mentioned in this video. Where things were new and exciting. Those days are done. Photography is like I mentioned in the video, just a skill in a stack now. And that sucks to say but I recognized that a long time ago. It’s one of the main reasons behind my channel. I felt there needed to be something to go along side the pictures. If you want I make money as a business, use the skill effectively. If you want to grow on social media stack it with something else. And no offense taken haha I’m fully aware of what social media does to my work. If it was up to me I’d share the 4/5 really great pictures I get a year.. but I still haven’t figured out how to make that align with my life and business goals just yet

    I love your videos and you have helped me look at my work in a different way, however, I would say for anyone starting out you still need some sort of following on Instagram to be able to sell the like of pre-sets, as these followers will essentially be your fan base. No matter how much SEO you use for organic searches, even with a website, no one will buy your work, whether pre-sets or prints, if you don't have some established following.

      It's not dead, but as it will come to pass, the value of photography will be in the selling of verité as guaranteed by the photographer and known by the subject: "That was really me, and I was really there." Many of the things photographers have been doing lately, such as background compositing, will be dropped in favor of the capture of reality. Photography has been there before.
