    UPDATE! One Year Later...........
    About a month ago, my Jeep started to have stalling issues again. The Jeep started to randomly misfire once or twice in a row stall sometimes and then drive normal all day. Then it started to get worse. It went from random occasionally stalling to once a day, then every time I drove it. Within the past month I replaced, ignition coil, spark plugs, fuel assembly module (pump, filter and sock), air filter and finally my Catalytic Converter. That's about $500 right there. Still had stalling problems......WTF.
    Finally, I stumbled upon this old video. Sure enough I had to tighten up those bolts again. PROBLEM SOLVED AGAIN! This was definitely the issue then and still is an issue. Those bolts work themselves loose over time. It took about a year, but I got it. Don't forget the LOCK TIGHT. Jeep is running strong.........

    We had to replaced some air valve. Problem solved. It died @ decceleration. Thank goodness. My husband did it in my driveway after I cleaned idle control, new fuel filter and new ignition.
    Got our reliable little jeep back on the road.
    We love old jeeps so much. Wish we had a Comanche.

    okay so I got an update for you. it was a simple as replacing the PCM. I have not had one Hiccup from the engine since I replaced it a week and a half ago. Does not stall at stop signs, lights, or anytime I'm slowing down and the engine doesn't stutter either. I did put a piece of wood in front of the harness connections with tie straps because the harness Clips are broken off but other than that did nothing else. so that was the fix,at least for my jeep.

    You guys with the Grand Cherokees have a different computer (at least the housing) than us with Cherokee Sports, and ours is in a different location. My 1996 XJ does not have any screws in the middle of the cover plate either side. It has four Torx on the front, one in each corner. It has some in the back too, but they are also along the perimeter.I checked all the mounting screws (5/8" hex), the only one a little loose goes into a nylon nut into the inner fender metal (was a screw for the PCM mount where it attaches to body). Checked the plugs and the right one was a little loose. I plan on zip tying all of them down tighter. Will see soon enough if that was the issue making it cut out while driving, seems to happen when under hood was hot.

    on mine thanks to RUclips My 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee is running great so far so good I took my PCM apart 2 days ago and resoldered the connections which was hell wouldn't flow and when it did it would drop onto the plastic beside the connection which is to dang close but I also seen a video where the 2 screws with the hex heads on the PCM being to long and grounding it out so I did that as well added 3 washers each screw and tightened them up and remounted it up tight reconnected the negetive battery terminal and started right up as always when cold and didn't stall when warmed up so test drove it and it has never ran this good every time I put it on computer it would tell me a different sensor everytime replaced 4 of them put would tell me same sensor I just changed was bad and would stall as soon as it would warm up this fixed mine

      My Jeep got worse over time. It wasnt until I took the time to solder that it was fixed. Good luck.

    • @noahmcfadden1658
      @noahmcfadden1658  5 лет назад

      The reason the solder doesnt flow means that the area is not hot enough. You think it would be hot enough because the solder melts but you need to make it even hotter. Once the area is REALLY hot, it will flow. I was scared tjat I would damage it the first time so I went with a temporary fix with the harness. Finally decided to try and solder again and finally fixed it.

    i have a 97 and was having the same issue so i finally solder the pcm connections because it would only stall when the weather was hot or i drove the car for a long time . it would also stall and turn off while i was moving the pcm connections around .so if you drive and hit a bump or something it would stall ..

    my 96 has been having this issue for a very long time. I've replaced every sensor, fuel pump/filter. transmission overhaul. Probably over 2 grand in parts and labor (not including my own wrench time) & nobody seems to know for sure what it is. Chrysler has been notified but doesn't seem to care. I think it's time to throw in the towel & say bye to the Jeep and switch brands. To bad really, I like Jeeps.

    I find it hard to believe that the mounting bolts were the culprit. Have you had any issues since making this video?

    • @noahmcfadden1658
      @noahmcfadden1658  8 лет назад +3

      +J Cervene I did not have ANY stalling problems since, however, about 4 months later (November) I drove it for about an hour, came out of a store and it suddenly would not start, it just cranked. I replaced the Cam position sensor and that fixed that issue. I haven't had ANY issues since.
      I truly believe it was the bolts because the mounting bolts were loose and the vibration was causing issues. Either in the wire harness or in the CPU itself. Can't say for sure. Once I tightened them up no problems. However, I did open the CPU up in an attempt to solder. I just opened it up and out it back together. Maybe that did it. Not sure.

      I decided to sell my Jeep. However, before I did, I removed the PCM and opened it up again. This time I got the soldering job done. You have to get the solder point VERY hot in order for the solder to flow. After that, it did not stall anymore.

    • @zzbudzz
      @zzbudzz 6 лет назад +2

      Noah McFadden-- I did the "wiggle" test on the pcm and it didn't cut off , the connectors seem very tight. I have no idea what to do to fix this now. It will start and run great 20 or 30 times then one time it won't idle and cut off. ?

    • @noahmcfadden1658
      @noahmcfadden1658  6 лет назад

      Even though the "wiggle" test passed, I still think you need to open up the PCM and solder. Watch this video and do this. ruclips.net/video/iWoDaM1Nxys/видео.html

      Sorry to hear that. I still haven't found a good way to fix this issue yet. Start your engine and then wiggle the wire harness. I can make my engine stall by wiggling the harness. If you can get the engine to spudder or stall than this is definitely your issue.

    I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, my issue is when it starts after sitting all night. When I put it in gear it’s shuts off, unless I use my other foot to give it gas. It stop after it get up to temp.
    Any help would be great. Ty

    • @noahmcfadden1658
      @noahmcfadden1658  6 лет назад

      Bill Calvin I suggest you try cleaning the throttle body to start. Sometimes there is build up in the throttle body that can cause that to happen. Also, you may want to clean or replace your spark plugs. If that doesn't work, I would replace the crank position sensor. You kind of have to trouble shoot to figure it out.

    • @noahmcfadden1658
      @noahmcfadden1658  6 лет назад

      Clean the throttle body. I would start there.

    Hey guys I have an 04 Inline 6 Grand Cherokee. Works great when cold but once it warms up, it shuts off when I put it in reverse. Forward works great. Reverse works only when cold. Any ideas? Thanks!

    • @noahmcfadden1658
      @noahmcfadden1658  7 лет назад

      Omar Figueroa Thats weird about shifting into reverse and stalling. I would replace the crank position sensor to start. Clean the throttle body. While the jeep is running, wiggle the pcm wireharness to see if you hear any hesitation.

    • @noahmcfadden1658
      @noahmcfadden1658  6 лет назад +1

      Someone told me that they got a new PCM and it fixed this problem. However, my research found that you may need to get a new PCM "flashed" or programmed to your vehicle. I know nothing about that process. I assume it is not a simple job or cheap job at that. My opinion is that if you get a new PCM, whether you have to get it programmed, it WILL fix the problem.

    • @dfpolitowski2
      @dfpolitowski2 6 лет назад

      Noah McFadden yeah I was just looking into that Chrysler has they're firmware all locked up so you have to be a member of their so-called sponsored organization in order to get access to this code. Plus you need a Hardware device on which to send this code. through

    My jeep stalls out on me while I am driving. Could this be my PCM also?

    • @noahmcfadden1658
      @noahmcfadden1658  6 лет назад +1

      Start you jeep. Then open your hood. Grab the large wire harness that is connected to the PCM. Give it a good wiggle. If you hear the engine hesitate or if the engine stalls then you have the issue. This is a VERY COMMON issue.
      My issue started out the same. It would only stall while driving. However, it got worse.

      Martin Santoyo you probably have to open the PCM and solder. A couple other guys have videos that show you what to do. I still have the occassional stall. I am going to solder when the weather gets warmer.

      brendan cannette I have spent a ton on other parts before I figured this out. The hose clamp idea is still working great for me today. I occasionally have to tighten/adjust it. It will stall twice a year now. Works for for me.
