I have been playing football for 35 years and from my experience mini shin pads do protect you from limited impacts but do not fully protect your shins.. its ok for friendly games but definitely not recommended for competitive football
If you didn’t have to wear shin pads I wouldn’t. I’m willing to take the risk. I do agree they are being sold to youngsters in stupid ways but for adults who make the choice I don’t see a problem. For years I used to buy the smallest kids pads I could find and cut the plastic off so it was just the foam. Can think of one bruise/lump i ever had and I’m a winger. Pads are overrated. I once heard someone say something I truly believe and that was if it hits with enough force the pad ain’t stopping your leg getting snapped.
I can understand that, but with that latter point, a shinpad may not stop a leg break, but it would require a whole lot more force to do so than without one. Same way a seatbelt and airbag may not help you survive a car crash. 😅
Honestly I don’t understand why people care what shin pads other people wear. I don’t wear them but I couldn’t care less if someone else wants to wear them. If they’re willing to sacrifice protection for style then that’s on them. I think traditionalists just hate anything new and want everything to comply with their own preferences. Next they will call for regulation of socks and compression shorts 😂
You say that but when a lot of the people who wear them are young kids. Should a product that is meant to be protective that is shown clearly not to be proven safe be advertised to kids 🤔
@@substanceftbl I don’t care lol, if I had a kid playing football he’d wear what I approve but i wouldn’t be advocating for other shin pads to be banned lmao. You sure did a good job of advertising those shin pads you like though 👍🏽
FIFA should regulate shin guards like balls, with minimum and maximum measurements, weight and materials.

I get your point. But I do feel for adults it should be a choice. For kids I completely agree they should be banned.
The advertising I’ve seen as well is downright scandalous.
I love mini shin pads

Don’t worry I will 😁 I can’t stop people wearing what they want. I just think it’s more sensible to wear safer options 🤷🏾♂️
