    In 1978, as a 15yr old, I rode my stingray push bike from Perth to mandurah and back again. It's a 12 hour round trip. We slept in Mandurah overnight and had a cream bun and a choc milk for brekkie and headed back to Perth. Probably the hardest thing I've done really on a bike.

    Thank you Serafina,and,Randall for showing us the Swan River bike paths.I do agree Perth has a great cycling infrastructure,and is a great City,but I still think Adelaide has the best cycling infrastructure in the world,and hard to beat.I do agree with you Perth`s great to cycle around,and great views to see.Hope you enjoy the rest of your Perth cycling adventures.I still hope one day we can go for a ride here in Adelaide.I`ve just had Orbea upgraded,and did a beach run today which was great.Good to see Fuji is running well.😄👍🚴🚴‍♂🚴‍♀

      @@CyclewithSerafina My wife and I brought bromptons there in 2016 in winter, it was nice, cool and leisurely... as it is the entire WA.
      I have a neighbour in her 60s that just went there with her brompton about 2 weeks ago and was concerned about cycling there, I told her just do it. She went, and told me they had a blast and are planning to go agin in March 2024. Bearing in mind if they're in their 60s and 70s and they found it "easy" and enjoyable.

    You can ride futher west all the way to Fremantle. A few spots you have to move onto road, but virtually cycleway the whole way. Then going further east from the Stadium you can go along the riverfront for further kilometres. Then great cycling along the coast all the way past Mullaloo. Then cycleways through the city. Then cycleways along rail lines and freeways.

    I don’t think that I’ve ever seen bike only cycling lanes-how awesome. You always have to dodge the pedestrians on most bike paths in my area. You are so lucky to have such beautiful riding areas in Australia. Any ride around or along a body of water is usually a nice ride. 🔥🚴🏻‍♂️🔥

    Some of us are lucky enough to live next to the track you followed. But we've a lot more circuits - up the Swan river to Guildford (crossing a the Guildford Bridge), down the Swan River to Fremantle (crossing at the old Fremantle Traffic Bridge), up the Canning River to Cannington (crossing at Nicholson Road). Maybe others have their own favourites ...

    Cycling is definitely a great way to enjoy Perth. We do regular rides using our recumbent trikes, way better IMO than two wheels. You always have a comfortable seat when you stop to enjoy the view.
    The only drawback, using the city shared paths (pedestrians and cycles) is the groups of people who take up the whole width of the path and stop right on the path to hokd a conversation instead of stepping off onto the grass.
    Just stay in the left lane, people, and be aware that cyclists ringing their bell as they come uo behind you aren't telling you to get out of the way. They just politely letting know they're there so you don't accidentally step in front of them resulting in everyone getting hurt.

    • @CyclewithSerafina
      @CyclewithSerafina  4 месяца назад

      Absolutely! Would be perfect for a recumbent, I know a lot of recumbent riders here who would love it 😍

      You obviously don’t stray too far North. Freeway bike path has been closed and dug up for the best part of 2 years North of Hepburn. New Tonkin Hwy closed North of Reid. These are both major commuter routes.

    New infrastructure is improving all the time. Whenever major roadworks occur along the highways and freeway, the government puts very high quality (separated) bike paths running alongside the major arteries, which are brilliant.
    Just don't ride on the roads, because Perth drivers HATE sharing roads with cyclists, unlike other parts of the world that manage just fine 😞

    • @CyclewithSerafina
      @CyclewithSerafina  Год назад

      They probably hate sharing because there's so much cycling infrastructure, they wonder why cyclists are riding on the road 😅 in places where there isn't cycling infrastructure, drivers are perhaps more tolerant because there aren't any other options... maybe 🤔 who knows, but I'm super, super impressed with Perth! 😁💓🚴‍♀️

    Im all for cycling infrastructure but i absolutely dispise the destruction of perfectly restorable railways aka rail trails there are so many other places to make leisure trails without having to destroy the potential of trains returning to so many rail lines!!.

    • @CyclewithSerafina
      @CyclewithSerafina  9 месяцев назад

      The good thing about rail trails is they are nice and wide, not too steep, and easy to transition to a safe bike path on land that is predominantly unused, however I do get your point 🙂

    Made me wince how much time you spent in the right hand lane…

    • @CyclewithSerafina
      @CyclewithSerafina  5 месяцев назад

      There's definitely an awareness needed when riding the bike paths and riding two abreast, only when the right lane is clear, not doing it on blind corners, not doing it on the uphill because people come speeding downhill in opposite direction, always ready to get into left lane at any moment. It can only be done smartly and strategically, not casually 👍🚴‍♀️🚴
