I took care of my granddaughter when she was a baby. She went through that phase of throwing every and anything. I taught her the sign for all done and that helped immensely. It gave her a way to communicate that she was finished. It does take some practice but they do learn it.
One thing to remember, any phase they go through doesn’t last for years, it just feels like it.

We haven’t had a lot of rain here near Philadelphia. We got like 16 drops the other day!
One tiny little comment. If you are planning on mass producing the blocks, I would recommend a little bit longer stick part just for choking hazard, safety. Kids at that age love to put everything in their mouth! Other than that, what an amazing toy! Ingenious!

1st off, he is a boy. They are usually pretty rough. BUT I have a 1 yr old little girl and she does the throwing of plates, bowl, drinks, food. Right now it's her way of saying she is all done. I finally just had to grab her arm, give it a little squeeze, get down in her sweet little face and say , NO NO, No throwing *whatever object she is throwing* I started showing her the sign language for all done. She's definitely getting better. The past few days she hasn't thrown much. I pray that this phase is passing and she learns that throwing stuff when she's all done is not ok.
Y'all are so much fun to watch. I love seeing God in the home and a lot of prayer. Teaching our little ones who our Father is key to raising obedient children and respectable adults. My 4 yr old insists that he says the prayer before every meal. ❤
No rain here in PA, going on 3 weeks. Just keep praying for rain.

Something you could try with the throwing is giving him items that he can throw while making everything else off limits. When he goes to throw something else, you take it from him and give him an allowed item. This doesn't work with all children, but it has helped me with my niece. Consistency is key, of course; you have to catch it every time, and it can be exhausting. It took about 2 months of this with my niece, and me telling her she can only throw allowed items. Good luck!

Kids are adorable at that age. My girls love to throw at that age. Out side eating on deck with paper plates and plastic sippy cups. Then we would go to the park or play in the yard. I included them in clean up time. A bath a story and nap time.
Great videos of your family! In reading through the comments, I agree with teaching him the sign for "all done". Of course then you have to pay attention to when he's signing! Another way to look at it is that he's super intelligent and learning physics at a great rate! I'm a mother of three and grandmother of 5, and I would say that some kids tend to do this more than others. I always gave my kids non-breakable dishes at that age, and still have some for my youngest grandkids. It won't last forever! You're doing a great job, and God will definitely guide you and supply the patience you need in the moment. Hugs and prayers.
Learning physics 😂 he used to sign “all done” but he stopped once he learned how to say “all done” he quit the sign. Maybe we should try to revisit the sign, though!

Use paper or plastic tableware until he gets control. Be forceful in your “NO’s.” Discipline his defiance - age appropriate. Pray over him. Strong willed children (I had 3) are an adventure, but this can also make them pretty darn good adults. Communication is key and he’s not able to do that, vocally, so maybe he’s throwing things in an attempt to do so. Track when he’s doing it to see if there’s a connection at all. Know that it’s just a Season. Mine are grown now with families of there own. I’d welcome the noise and broken dishes again, lol. ❤ Keep the Faith!

We say to our daughter we throw balls not food (or whatever the thing we dont want her to throw). Shall we go outside to throw a ball?

Thats part of the terrible twos faze. Get him some plastic plates and things to play with and that should save your dishes.

@savannah: normally kids just stop at some point with throwing things, but until that you should try it with non-porcellain plates.😅
