IF you lay the iPad on the table, with the apple logo down, it becomes a one finger open, like a MacBook. Try it out, it changes the daily use. Hope this helps someone!

One thing I REALLY miss during times like this is going to Best Buy or the Apple store and physically playing with products and getting a feel for them. That's something you can't replace. D Haze Did any you get your new Pro Gen 4? I’d love to hear peoples experiences on how the hold this thing right-side-up without a case! I recently got an iPad Pro 12.9 Gen 4 to replace my Gen 1 and I’ve been a little bummed out. This video review for the magic keyboard is well done in-depth BUT when the guy says; “...so when your finished typing and you want to use the iPad as a tablet, you can just pick it up off the backing...” Well that’s when I said to myself ‘and hold it how???” The goddamn thing is so dark with a thin black bezel that makes it tricky difficult to hold with corner power volume buttons right-side-up! He mentions people complain about weight. But it’s just a little heavier. Maybe what people meant was the combined weight and feel being like trying to hold a screen in your hands fumbling to find which end is up, pressing power or volume or both for screenshots, and not having any part of your body touch the screen especially while laying on the couch and drawing. And just like my iPhone XS Max the stupid camera sticks out just waiting to get scraped. Is this due to an obsession with record setting specs for being thin? I hope they used scratch resistant diamond glass but even so, the camera still needs cleaning more often. Also, these suckers get hot if you hold it with your hand under the processor area.
I got so tired of flipping around the thing that I became desperate for a fix so I did 2 silly things. 1. For first time ever, I used the included white Apple logo stickers! I put one on the black back over the small inlaid apple logo, to help know which way is up. Then with the other included Apple logo decal I cut out 3 white slivers the size of the buttons. I put 1 on the bezel lined up with the top-right power button. Next, I put the 2 white cut-out tiny stickers and did the same for the volume buttons top-right-side vertically lined up perfect to help me press the correct volume up or down button instead of feeling around for these low profile buttons only millimeters apart. We’ll see how it goes. I do love the new pencil and even-more natural-feeling drawing experience. It’s just a little better but that lil bit makes such a difference! But I also feel like there was no wow factor and it’s essentially nearly the same as my Gen 1 except it doesn’t lag on heavy processor and memory demanding apps. Plenty ram mem for a tablet and 8 cores on this slim sucker! I still haven’t tried editing in iMovie app yet. Encoding video will be the true test.

Tom Carrozza it doesn’t slide off. Almost staples shut as soon as you get it near. No you can’t put it in portrait. I just rotate the screen with the case.

Magic Keyboard is so interesting once you know the command shortcuts.
I wrote a 20 page brief over the last two days entirely on my iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard. I went from my desk to the couch to my bed. In every situation, especially typing away next to my wife in bed - the backlit keys were such a great change - the Magic Keyboard was perfect. And even as a longtime iPad user, who’s been using my iPad for work for years, I was still a little concerned about writing for such an extended period of time on any iPad keyboard. But after 20 hours of writing and editing. I’m sold. For me, it is worth the money.

Ivy Avitia I have a MacBook Pro that I no longer touch for work, but there are two big reasons for that: (1) the iPad forces me to focus - I can’t have 15 windows open and 100 tabs; and (2) I love taking handwritten notes. For my purposes, the iPad Pro is the perfect device because it is so flexible. That does not mean that it is the perfect device for every situation, but it is really good for downtime (it games better than any Mac), the screen is amazing (120 htz and really bright), there are apps for everything and they are great (both for business and for note taking), the camera helps when it comes to scanning in documents, converting PDFs, marking up PDF’s, and now the keyboard and trackpad have really transformed it into the perfect device for me. If you have any specific use case, I can tell you how it performs in that area, but those are my “general” comments.

I've been using Magic Keyboard Pro for my iPad Pro 11 for almost 3 days now and I'm loving it. It took me some time to get used to the keyboard since I was using Smart Keyboard at first. Even though I have Macbook Pro 16, I still don't feel like typing experiences are same.

I can tell you hands down after watching Max’s video regarding the benefits and features of the Magic Keyboard I immediately ran an purchased one. Everything Max Tech said is absolutely true. Received my iPad Pro magic keyboard in the mail over the weekend and I am loving it!
I got my magic keyboard today and used it to work on some scripts. It feels great and it's honestly the best. So glad I made the switch from a laptop to an Ipad. This is a game-changer.

I wish i had watched this video properly the first time. I had ordered a magic keyboard, chickened out at the cost and cancelled the shipment. Now I am going to see if I can go buy one in person today. Being able to swipe to return to home, adjust volume and all of the other features of the trackpad are essential to me. I don’t want to take my hands off of the keyboard all the time. Even when the ipad is at my bedside table, and I want to check something, the trackpad is easy reach and convenient!!

Actually, no because the camera is on the side of the iPad, so in horizontal orientation, it is so awkward to do video chats!
Is it that important though? I do video calls with coworkers who face away at other monitors the entire time and no one cares. Guess it might be different in different industries or talking to customers though.
Phoenix Dawn with both stands it’s awkward because the camera lens is not centered in the iPad. The magic keyboard allows for more viewing angles while tilting up and down, the folio keyboard has two tilting angles only

Apple can actually adapt what many other vendors do for function keys: add a Fn key! Then Fn-1 for brightness, etc. Alternatively, let user set up their own function key combination.

I couldn't find a good use case for having this keyboard unless I travel, I'm mobile or using the tablet as if it were a laptop. That will never happen with the iPad Pro. Ever. I returned my unopened Magic Keyboard after it sat on my desk for three days. When I realized I didn't need to open it, it was sent back to Apple. But thanks for a clean and honest review.
I actually preordered the Brydge keyboard and after four weeks of nothing, I decided to spend the extra money on the Magic keyboard- received it in two days. I didn’t have the the folio case and instead always bought other brands for my 2015 iPad and the 11” pro. Brydge offered me a $50 discount if I kept the order with them....love the products but I am really impressed with the Magic keyboard....feels premium and is very smooth.

I’ve been telling everyone that this keyboard completely revolutionizes the iPad! I love the keys, backlighting, the flexible angling, and most importantly the trackpad and seamless cursor support! Love that my tablet very easily comes off the case so that I can use it like a normal tablet when needed. I was initially disappointed about the case not flipping over for writing, but I’ve already become used to removing the device and placing on top of the closed case to write. Thanks for the video! Totally agree here. I immediately turn off any video that crys about the magic keyboard not having the function key row. I have been using the Logitech Slim Folio Pro for the past 9 months, and I do not miss those function keys a bit when I switched to the magic keyboard.

@@ComunidadeMirage150 the keyboards are not durable at all i recommend not buying them. ive had ipad pro 1,2,3 and ive gotten my ipad pro 3 keyboard replaced 3 times. this is my experiecne with apples keyboards for ipads: they dont last long, the keys stop working every now and then after 4-5 months of use, the case is not protective as a case for the ipad, the case gets dirty really really quickly like in 2 months the keys are in bad condition because the keyboard is on a table when ur using an apple pencil and the keys get damaged because of the pressure when writing using a pencil. badly designed in my opinion
Robson Boliver If you take your iPad off to use as a tablet all the time, the price is SO justified. I don’t put my iPad entirely in the Logitech case simply because I want to be able to take my iPad off freely. And, smart connector vs. Bluetooth alone makes the price justified. The trackpad itself makes the price justified. I’m amused by the cry babies whining about the function row. I mean, it’s first world problem to the max. For me, using the trackpad to adjust brightness and volume with Control Center is not that much of a hassle compared to using function keys. Compared to the enormous benefits the keyboard brings, I can’t even begin to see a reason to worry about function keys.

What Are you using your iPad for? The only thing holding mf back is the price and the fact that using the apple pencil with this case will get annoying
I bought a mint, very low-mileage (5 charging cycles, according to Coconut Battery) iPad Pro 11. It came with the Smart Keyboard Folio. I found typing on the SKF was better than I thought it would be. But when the Magic Keyboard came out, I had to have it. I have no regrets about laying down the dosh.
Coming from the Surface Pro 4, it felt like coming home.
I absolutely LOVE my magic keyboard case. It’s like having a new iPad.

Okay so...I bought a keyboard for my iPad Pro from target some off brand and strongly dislike it. I am now wondering whether or not I should get the smart folio or the magic keyboard. I have considered others but ultimately narrowed it down to these two. Cost isn't an option and I use my iPad for everything! I am just curious is that extra $120 worth it though for the magic keyboard and for those who have the magic keyboard...
Do I have to take the tablet off the keyboard to write with my Apple Pencil? Can I flip the magic keyboard any sort of way and write with the pencil still attached to the keyboard?
For those with the smart folio keyboard what are your thoughts? Did you wish to upgrade? Any regrets?

Shanika Elizabeth, I don’t think you’ll regret buying the magic keyboard case with trackpad. You will have to take it off the case if you want to write with the Apple Pencil ✏️. But I don’t think that’s a big deal. 🤷🏻 The trackpad alone is worth the extra money. It’s like having a MacBook. It changes my iPad Pro to a Mac with all the iPad features to go with it.
The folio is good too. But it doesn’t have the trackpad. I mean you can purchase a mouse, but now you’re traveling with a mouse too. Not ideal for me. Like I said, it’s the best purchase for me (at least).

My input on the new magic keyboard.
Pros: Keyboard, Backlit, Trackpad, Large variety of angles.
Cons: Whenever I tap the screen or write on it with Apple Pencil, there is an obnoxiously annoying tick noise coming from the hinge.
Was enough to make me return the case.
I just tried this out at apple today and I got to say it’s pretty premium and nice quality. The only thing that I was put off was the price. $1799.00 cad with this setup. Add the pen and it’s hitting $2000.00. If they can make Mac OS on the iPad Pro then I would take this over the MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. Perfect portability size.
I think the reason people are excited about the ipad is that it offers endless possibilities for the future to come. With all the sensors, touch, pencil, cellular, IR and whatever new technology comes along. The Mac form factor on the other hand feels like it’s hit a brick wall.
Finally ordered a Magic Keyboard for my iPad Pro! I know I’m about a year late, but I’m still excited to put it to use.
There’s a chance there will be an Apple event in one week where they will potentially release a new magic keyboard. Not 100% sure though

Would be nice if there was some protection when taking the iPad out of the magic keyboard! I wonder if it's possible to still use the magic keyboard case with a thin case protecting the iPad... I know I'll end up dropping it eventually aha

Just got mine today after one day shipping from Best Buy. I have the 12.9” one with the 2018 iPad Pro. Haven’t had too much time to use it since its 2:30 in the morning. So far I’m liking it. It’s kinda big but that’s what you get with the big iPad. Just have to learn the shortcuts. Good video. I’ll have to watch your other ones again to learn stuff.
I hope Apple is giving you a commission - you did such a good job and Apple is now going to get more of my money. Great job, thorough, right amount of content.
My best apple purchase this year
I think it would’ve been cool if Apple had integrated a spring-loaded push to lock Apple Pencil holder into the large circular hinge part. It could have the USB type-C port on the left still, and a compartment to dock the Apple Pencil on the right, which you would press in, and it would click to lock in flush, then press in again to release.
You should be a product designer
I returned my 11” MKB because the trackpad is too small, the weight, hard to open, and lack of function keys. If one of those things were resolved, I would have kept it. My alternative was get a SG Apple Trackpad 2 and Smart Folio KB case. Together is lighter than MKB and the trackpad is much larger and more useful.
I just absolutely love this thing! It has completely changed the way I used my iPad Pro for the good. Great design, great keys, great trackpad. In combination with the Apple Pencil, this is the best iPad Pro accessory out there! The only downside for me personally besides the price is that fingerprints are quickly and easily visible on both the keyboard and the trackpad.

Great review as I have just purchased an iPad Pro 11 2020. Now I will have to save for the keyboard case.
Just got mine delivered yesterday. Very impressed, and the backlit keyboard is great. I’m still learning some functions which are the same as the MBP, e.g. cmd shift 3 does a screenshot. Expensive ? Yes, but it transforms the iPad into a very different machine. Love it!

Literally just got mine within the last hour, and it definitely feels “magical” with the iPad Pro!
Would love for the magic keyboard to have a 2nd usb-c port on the other side for pass through charging or if I want to charge from that end. What would be even better is if the keyboard has AirPlay and you could plug any usb-c device that you would directly into the iPad and it would interface over airplay seamlessly as it would had you connected it directly to the iPad. This would in effect give you 3 fully functional usb-c ports on the iPad making it a serious competitor to the MacBook for most people that aren’t heavy pro task users

I’ve been wavering on this since it came out, but since COVID I’ve used my iPad Pro 2018 12.9 sooooo much more along side my work laptop. Having to grab my Bluetooth keyboard, clicking it on and off to use the iPad more tablet like, and having to switch my mouse from the work laptop to the iPad is getting confusing, and a pain. I think I will get one now in the next couple of weeks. Thanks guys!

With this new magic keyboard can you use the charging cable that came with the iPad Pro 12.9” 2018 3rd generation? As i noticed in other videos there does not seem to be a charging cable that comes with it from watching other videos. I am hoping this is the case with using the ipad charging cable. Spoke to apple and they are saying it does not need a charging cable as the power comes from the ipad itself. Would appreciate any advice please? Loved your video 👌
Equipped with the magic keyboard, my ipad pro becomes a light duty laptop. As long as you don't expect full functions of your software for high productivity, my ipad pro is my secondary computer especially on the go.

Magic Trackpad 2 is also using Bluetooth, and it works well.
Same goes for Bluetooth keyboards. They work perfectly fine and I never had any issues with delay or whatever.
Can you put any type of protective case on the iPad and still use it with the Magic Keyboard so it is protected when not docked? This is for my kids so protection is key!!

They could certainly make it fold into a tablet the way the hp spectre folio does without compromising the sturdiness. Not a huge fan of splitting it into 2 and looking for a place to stash half whenever I want to get up and use a tablet.

I feel exactly the same!!! At first I cancelled my order when I heard all the negative things about this keyboard, but after I did that and at the same time I was still watching other RUclipsrs trying their first hand on it... turns out the things that were bothering me were actually not a big deal at all! And last week the apple store app showed it was in stock and available to be taken on the same day.... now I’m typing this comment with it and never regret it at all. This is an awesome tool.
Also, I am unfortunately not a fan of the lack of protection. While I take care of my device excessively, the occasional bump and knock does not bode well for the thin aluminum chassis that is exposed all around the edges. I wish more companies would make a simple style bumper for the iPad Pro that would accommodate this. It seems this case adds more rigidity then the Apple keyboard case

I don't know - It is now March 2023. I still have mixed feelings about the magic keyboard.
First it does not have all the keys a normal keyboard has - Escape and function keys. I hate using so many multi key presses to try and do many IPAD functions - but I guess that is the nature of the beast.
I am not too fond of track pads and prefer using a mouse. I guess that too is whatever you are used to. How reliable is the sensitivity, using multiple fingers, and swiping up and down on the track pad??? My PC laptop has one, but I hardly use it. I have a wireless full keyboard and mouse for my PC that costs only 30 dollars.
The other features of the magic keyboard sound nice with the lighted keys, charge port, and ability to quickly remove the IPAD.
I don't have any Apple products at this time, but thinking about getting an IPAD Pro for use with some action cameras and activating them. The cost is hesitating me right now to get the right one with adequate amount of storage for some video editing. I don't need another full blown computer, I have 3 PC computers which perform that task.

Which size iPad were you using in this vid? Would u find this adequate for word docs, split screen for zoom and note taking on the go?
I have got magic keyboard on order and can’t wait for it to arrive - still 1-2 weeks before delivery. I use my iPad Pro 10-12 hours a day for work and leisure

What would be the benefit of a track pad if you can control the screen by touching it?
Is it possible to get a thin protection sleeve compatible with with this Magic Keyboard for protection in iPad Detached mode ? Not that horrible one with the space for the pencil.
For me the missing shortcuts is a big deal. Pressing ONE button for volume, brightness, standby etc. is ALWAYS better than the need of pressing command and one or even two other buttons... Especially at such a high price, a shortcut row would be a must have for me.
I'm using a really cheap 45€ keyboard case on my 10.5" iPad Pro and I would never ditch that shortcut row. It's EXTREMELY useful. It also has a screenshot button which I use regularly.

I just got mine for my 2018 11” and I do not regret buying it. It turned my iPad into a laptop, I’m actually selling my iMac cuz I don’t need it anymore.
Can you use CTRL + two fingers on the trackpad to zoom in and out (like on Macs)? I am visually impaired and need that function. Thanks.
Digging mine. It is light years better than the Smart Keyboardfolio and much safer. The keyboard and trackpad are fantastic and work seamlessly. I am thinking of getting a 16” MBP for the first time because this setup w/ my 11” iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard can be my commuter and around the house when I don’t need full laptop functions. I have a questions however regarding some leaks / rumors for the 14” MBP due in May or early June 2020. 1) Do you think the 14” would ever get a dedicated 5500M like the 16”? 2) Thoughts on if Apple will update the webcam to 4K or at least 1080p? 3) Thoughts on processor update for 16” at the same time they release the 14”? 10th gen intel processor on the 16” w/ WiFi 6 and hopefully a better webcam is sort of what I’m waiting for.

After the Logitech slim folio pro, you can’t go back to not having function keys. Trust me. The home button, the sleep button, the volume buttons, backlight adjustment, show/hide virtual keyboard, pause/play fast forward, all with physical buttons right by your fingertips.
Exactly. On my pretty cheap keyboard case I even have a screenshot shortcut and I don't want to ditch that. Especially not on a case that costs so much...
R0MAIN. It actually IS comparable. If you compare it to the 12" version, even the size is literally identical. It's just missing the shortcut row and the bigger trackpad.
Tim R. But... when you add the price up - Apple Pencil, 12.9 iPad, 350 case, dongles, it will come out to being more expensive, while still running less capable software. The software will likely get better as time progresses, but for now, the MacBook Air is still a better buy than the 12.9 iPad Pro.
