- Video of a White 195 Workhorse series tractor pulling a Gehl 1260 forage harvester (chopper) with a 3 row corn head and a New Idea 802 Uni-System chopping corn silage at a dairy farm near Decatur Indiana. Also in the video is a White 8310 tractor hooked to a Gehl 1540 blower at the silo and some Oliver tractors pulling Gehl 970 & 980 forage wagons.
Awesome video Mike! Love seeing the older equipment hard at work. Still is strange that Gehl no longer makes ag equipment.
Exciting video Mike!! The Uni-System moves right along....nice unit! As is the White 195 with the Gehl chopper.....thanks Mike! I like it that they don't have a ton of silage on top of the wagons!! And it's really nice to have a SP chopper to open the fields....
Good video, I've always thought that New idea was an odd looking machine, but there's no question in the work it can do, thank you
Nice morning video while I had my coffee. Use to be a lot of White equipment in our area at one time. The dealership was right in town. Thanks Mike, you have yourself a good day eh.
My dad and uncle used a 701 uni with a 3 row head for picking corn when I was little!! Man that 800 series seems advanced!! We have a combine unit for one but dad bought it as a package deal just to get the 3 row header
We got some new to us 980 gehl wagons this year .really like them nice equipment
Thank you Mike. Nice set up not something you very often. For years of the machine's the farmers keep them in good shape.
Great video , workhorse tractors are the best ever built
Good video as always..love seeing those older equipment..👍
great video mike. really enjoy watching uni systems in the field.
West Bend Wisconsin is 15 minutes from my house. I own a Gehl 2270 mower. It's a awesome mower and thanks for the video.
Just found this. My brother used to run a new idea uni. He had the husking bed and the combine for it. He ran a 4 row head on the husking bed and I for me it was hard to keep up unloading. The combine hasn’t been used in years now. He was using the husking bed until 15 year ago.
That looks fun! I miss those days. But we had a Massey Ferguson 2805, Gehl 1275 & 4 Gehl 970 wagons.
Oh man . That Uni brings back memories and a few nightmares .
yoder82 unis always seemed to bite you if you had to work on them
Ed Reisinger . Very true . I had to try and keep an extremely wore out 767 super chopper unit going , there is nothing super about that piece of equipment !
yoder82 we still have ours. It started out on a 705 power unit. After the 705 gave up the ghost, we put the chopper on a 707. Did you have the 768 wide/narrow head on your chopper?
Ed Reisinger I do not recall the model of header it was . It’s been 25 years ago ! We had a 705 power unit then later got a 709 and both power units worked really well .
I still have a pocket spirit level from New Idea that my Dad got as a product promotion when he taught vo-ag.
Love the White Tractors ,Oliver & New Idea Uni..
Happy saturday evening from Sweden
what a great video. white and new idea are the best 👍👍✌
great video, the 8310 has its work cut out keeping up with two choppers and poorin the coals on the 802 new idea
My dad ran a uni. Had the super chopper and combine attachments
👍love seeing the old uni systems, dad (dave bardo )had one ,701 I do believe
I remember him talking about it.
Nice videos farmhand Mike.
Greetings from Sweden.
Between Saginaw and Reese Michigan on m 81 I believe there is a guy with a new idea and a Minnie Moe each with combines on them. They both look in good shape if my memory is correct.
Also near fort recovery ohio on ft recovery Minster rd about 2 miles out side of town I think there is one with a combine on it.
Nice footage. Well done.
Awesome Mike!! What would one of those Avco choppers cost today? What was the power plant maybe I missed it.
Nice Machines 👍
We had Oliver's and White's real easy to work on
One of our neighbors have a uni new idea and it’s silver And and black up here , he chops corn silage with it and does snaplage with it also , we are located in micksburg Ontario Canada
could you get a picture of his snaplage set up we have a 708 and 709 im kinda intrested in trying snaplage
Mike, we still run a new idea 708 uni system with a 717 combine in south central Wisconsin if you would be interested in filming
what do you Know/Think about JCB 8330 Tractors
348 hp /43 mph/14401bf
That's a fast tractor
We have a cockshutt 1600 that was used for hauling forage wagons the only difference from the Oliver 1600 is the pain and the logo. But ours has the wide fromt
Nice Video 👍🏻🚜
God Vid Mike Thanks !!
I am a city guy not a farmer I have a question had they already harvested the corn off the stalk ? or are they grinding up the corn and stalk here in this video? what is the purpose of grinding up the corn stalk and storing it in the bins? Thanks for educating a city man. LOL
This is ears and stalk all in one being choped. It is used as feed for the cattle.
The whole corn plant is ground up and stored in the silo as corn silage...the silage ferments in the silo and is an excellent food source for cattle...hope this helps
Thanks to both of you yes I understand what is going on now.
Nice 👍
Acording to a farming magazine that i found online new idea switched coulurs the year 1984 when they merged with white. The used silver for the uni systems and white for the rest of their eqiument line. They later changed from silver/white to red in 1993 when agco bought them. They used the red coulurs up till 2005 or 2007 when agco cancelled the new idea eqiument line in favor of challenger and MF.
Thanks for the info, I almost forgot about the red colored New Idea at the end.
Mike Less - Farmhand Mike Thank you mike for giving such great info about versitale. Online i have been seing pictures of new holland versitale and buhler versitale with tracs similiar to the tracs of a challenger. I was wondering if you know anything about them??
Did the white at around 1:19 only have one rear dual?
chunkmen The white only has one dual on the side next to the corn would run the row of corn down if the dual was on . Hope this helps thank you.
@@perryspradlin6779 yeah I know it would run down the row of corn but why leave the second dual on then?
chunkmen may have been wet. The dual does help you float and smash down ruts. We have done that before. It does make a difference.
I enjoy your videos, but the fisheye effect from the gopro footage not so much. On the other hand the drone footage is 👌.
Thanks and its impossible to please everyone. I bought a new Sony camera to shoot the on ground footage with and there is some clips in this video with that camera but I'm not 100% satisfied with it yet. A lot of these videos I have very little time to shoot and the GoPro had just been quicker to get the on the ground shots.
