Interesting video Paul. I think you are right in that a thermally controlled switch and battery would help. I don't think a solar kiln will ever get up to and maintain temperature for the required time for wood sterilization without an additional source of heat but you seem creative enough to prove me wrong 😁
I think you're right.. There's too much heat loss through the clear panels without an external heat source. But.. I don't really have an issue with bugs once I get the wood through the kiln and into the shop. Plenty of droppings in the barn where it air dries but haven't seen anything in the shop once it's been through the kiln.
I wonder if you had left the thermocouple in the wood (not taking it out every time you measured the temp) if it would have made any difference in the readings.
@@hillbillychic3933 enjoy the solar kiln info. Spring project is a building for a non-mobile electric mp32, we are somewhere in their build que.....But then a solar kiln, but definitely will go with electric fans. Appreciate you sharing your journeys

I left it in until the readings settled so I'm not sure. Having the wire heat up to ambient temperature inside the kiln might have made a difference.
It sure has been warm enough. Parking lots retain heat for hours but probably not underneath a solar kiln.
hmmm.. No you have me thinking.. Heat storage..
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
you are on a roll.. Thanks for the views!
