You do in fact get an earlier boarding group if you’re taking Disney transportation - that’s actually another good tip if you don’t want to stress about checking in right when it opens. They save those early boarding groups for the buses (I think the earliest ones are concierge, then Disney transport). I actually have my check-in day for our next cruise tomorrow! But since we’re taking the Disney bus from the Hyatt, I’m not going to bother doing it at midnight, I’ll just check in over coffee in the morning 🙂

Our first Disney cruise is coming up. We are using Disney transportation from Animal Kingdom Lodge. Our travel agent said no matter what boarding time we got that Disney transportation would override the time. I was glad to hear that since we were at the bottom of the check in time.
17:46 we’ve had several cast members tell us that if you use Disney transportation you have an earlier boarding group. We checked in a week before our 1st Disney Cruise & still got boarding group 4 (& we took Disney transportation from Pop Century).
I love all the DCL content and tips for sailing with littles. We are going on our third cruise to celebrate my sons birthday and my medical school graduation. Celebrating with disney is just too fun. 🎉
A few other tips I’m finding out: -We are a blended family and our twins actually have a different last name than dad. We are bringing both their passports, birth certificates, marriage license, and name change doc for dad… but! The more we looked into it, we are actually also going to bring a notarized affidavit stating the mom of our twins gives approval for the twins to travel internationally. -Also, my dad has to travel with his CPAP breathing machine at night. You can inform DCL ahead of time and they will provide additional cords to plug the machine in, and provide the distilled water for the machine! Love yall!! Thanks for your amazing tips! We always book cruises thru Costco Travel and purchase the travel insurance thru them, but we’re sailing on the Celebrity Edge in May out of Honolulu and was told that they couldn’t book it for us for that cruise so we needed to contact the insurance company to purchase it on our own. It was super easy and only $158 total for both of us and covers a lot of things. We love Costco Travel because we always receive a Costco Shop Card when we return from every cruise.
Disney transportation! I refer to it as the “Disney bubble”. I love staying inside the Disney bubble from start to finish of our Disney vacation. I’m hoping that Aulani also lets us leave our luggage and it’s magically on board the Wonder later in the day, but we will see. Yes the transportation is a little more but in my opinion totally worth it!
Great tips and tricks!! Our kids used to get ear infections every time we traveled and we always got antibiotics before heading out on vacation. I believe boarding groups 1 & 2 are for Concierge guests and then groups 3 - 6 or 7 are for those who take Disney Transportation to the port.
What’s considered “early” for arrival time? We are going this month and staying at the Hyatt MCO. After watching your last cruise vlog it seemed like the best option. We got an 11:00am. This is our first cruise and this was after all 11 of us fumbling through the check in process. We even had one of the staterooms book transportation after checkin and they changed their check in time from 12 to 11am.
I don’t think it’s because you guys stayed at the Hyatt MCO, it’s just that you’ve selected Disney transportation to Port Canaveral that you guys got the early boarding group. Last Disney Wish cruise, I completely forgot to check-in on time so I was late by couple of days, but when I finished the belated check in process I still got a boarding group 4, I used the Disney transportation from Pop Century to Port Canaveral, I think THAT is the best bonus of using Disney transportation to get to the port, totally worth the $90.00 per person round trip!!! I don’t have to stress over having all the pictures and documents ready by the check in time. So if you guys are going to use Disney cruise bus from MCO to port canaveral, guess check in day doesn’t have to be a national holiday in your household any more, you guys could just relax doing all the check in process 😊
And if you forget, guest services can download your disney gift cards onto your account when you are on board. Make sure you have your flight information at hand when you are doing your online check-in. Disney Transport in Rome. When going from the port to a Disney affiliated hotel in Rome, there is actually a shore excursion to see the sights before you get to the hotel. (we're doing this in June), Wondering if there is an outside area on the Treasure like there is on the Dream and the Fantasy by Palo. Hoping you could include on your cruise vlog. -Mike

Everything i seen says a passport card will work but should we carry them and birth certificate s or just our drivers license? What do we take when we get off the ship? All the paperwork?
For online check-in - I have been told to get the PAT first because thats a first come first serve, then go back and do all the boarding info etc. Can you bypass the boarding/passport info and go straight to PAT or do you have to push through screens? Can you describe what it looks like on the computer and walk me through that procedure please?
You can’t bypass the info part and go straight to PAT but you can get through the info part quite quickly if you prepare ahead of time by scanning your passports and having the jpegs saved on your computer/device and taking headshots of each person in your party and having those photos saved ahead of time. If your entire party has the same address and emergency contact info you can check the option that lets you copy that info to each member and that makes it super quick. The main things you have to do our personal info and uploading passports and photos of each member and some quick info related to youth clubs if you have kids in your party. If you aren’t taking Disney transport, you should try your best to check-in as soon as it becomes available so you get the best PAT possible. Hope this helps!

we've been travelling with our kids since they were 9 months. There is nothing to be scared about, just be prepared. Get travel insurance and passports and research your trip heavily. There are a lot of great travel tips for travelling with children.
Another good tip is to just get a passport for everyone in your party, including the kids. If an emergency happens and you need to fly back to the U.S., just a birth certificate won’t be enough to get you on a plane.

If you go to Disney World before a Port Canaveral Cruise and drove to the resort, you CAN NOT leave your vehicles at the resort.
