White Creek New Years Day Run January 1, 2020
Every year on New Years Day the White Creek Rail Road in Cedar Springs Michigan has a pot luck lunch and a ride on the railroad.
This year there was several inches of fresh snow. Seven trains headed out. Shortly after leaving the engine house it was decided that the snow plow train needed a helper so the first two trains were connected together. We were able to ride most of the five miles of track. We had to make several stops to re-rail the plow or clean the ice build form the wheels. On the return trip through Hidden Valley yard the plow snagged a hold down for one of the crossings derailing the plow and locomotive.
