  • We spent weeks looking for a more professional solution to this problem. The setup is slightly more expensive but it'll produce the highest music and voice quality. To do this, you need a mixer. You don't need a fancy mixer - in fact, you can start with a starter mixer shown in this video.

    I wanted to see how other people deal with problems with zoom audio. I just bought a audio interface from the same company, not the same model (you called it a mixer, which is a part of the interface). BTW, channel 5/6 doesn't have an input, even though you have a post-it note at the level control.
    Anyways if you are transmitting music as well as your voice, I think you should be unchecking the "suppress persistent background noise" 11:40 since the music is considered background noise. That is the problem I had with Zoom with my kid's recital. Zoom is designed to transmit voices in a meeting (that's my opinion/guess), so voices will not be filtered out, but the music will, or at least be transmitted in a muffled way.
    Also, 10:45 you should uncheck the "automatically adjust microphone volume". Set the volume here to the max. You already took pains in getting the upstream mixer levels right, you should not let the computer change the volume on top of that. That button would be checked only if you don't have a mixer and are using the internal microphone of the laptop.

      Louis Emery I’m doing what the audio/video experts told me to do and it works great.

    • @ljbullis
      @ljbullis 4 года назад +2

      I played around with the settings, unchecking both “suppress persistent background noise” and “automatically adjust microphone level” -I also set the echo cancellation to “aggressive”. I was pleased with the result. Note: it is the external speaker that is connected to level 5/6. If you join the meeting on a second device as a participant, in order to resolve the latency issue, and the music is not loud enough on the participant end, crank up the white control on level 5/6, the one labeled “iPod” on the sticky note (On level 2 the iPod signal goes in, on level 5/6 FX send, the signal is sent out). You can relabel this output “speaker” if that makes more sense, because it is where the speaker plugs in. I also connected my iPod for stereo, using the left/right line in channels on level 3/4 (red is right).

    Thanks, this is exactly the Info I needed. I am taking Piano lessons, classes, and performances are on Zoom. I use a Behringer Q1202 USB mixer, which is just the next model up from the model you are using. Now I can send a fuller piano sound, and have a separate channel for my voice , and even add a backing track with full volume control.

I recommend people get the free version of vmix software which allows you to delay the audio signal so that your audio can match perfectly. all you would need to buy are some virtual audio cables worth like 5$ or 10$ in order to treat the audio coming out of vmix as a microphone.

      So she has mislabelled her little notes. She’s inputting mic on channel 1 and her iPod on channel 2.
      These 2 inputs are being mixed together and sent to Zoom as a single output (as zoom can only handle one input) via the USB connection. So now her students can hear her and also the music.
      But she also needs to be able to hear.
      So she is then using the FX channel on 5/6 to output to her stereo the music from channel 2 but not the mic from channel 1 - as she doesn’t need to hear herself.
      I wonder if the USB acts as a 2 way connection so that you can also hear input from Zoom, ie hear the students if they need to speak to you? It’s not clear from this. I usually have students on mute during the class but we chat a little at the end. So my only confusion is around that.

      @@helenabellydancer yes, that's true. I actually have a similar set up to this. I figured out what the set up was when I purchased a similar mixer. I tried to set my equipment as like you did and set the Zoom settings the same, but Zoom will not play the mic and music from the Q802USB mixer. • @jasonblakely1278
      @jasonblakely1278 4 года назад

      In your scenario and relating to the video, your tablet would have a headphone (3.5mm) cable (balanced) coming out of it and into one of the available audio channel(s) 1/4" inputs (there's a couple ways to do this depending on your mixer). She has her mic and her music device going into her mixer, then out of the mixer (via USB) into her computer. That's just for audio sent to Zoom (as a combined feed). Additionally, she also comes out of the mixer (via a "send"/output, using a balanced 1/4" cable in this instance) which goes directly into a mic/line input on the back of the external speaker (in the video the speaker used a 1/4" input, but yours may be XLR, either way they make cables to adapt). This "send" is tied into all of her FX knobs (red knobs) for each channel. Meaning, whatever is plugged into those channels (microphone, ipod, etc) can also be SENT out to the external speaker separately by setting the level(s) of the FX knob(s).

Or would you suggest I buy this particular one (Shure) for it to work well .
