    Tommy, my friend, if you retire at 25 with multiple grand slams, it means that your winning % is very high. This is % and not number of matches played which means that the less you play and more during your peak, your % will be higher. He did return in the 90s though but couldn’t play enough to ruin the stats lol.

    • @orchidpanda2253
      @orchidpanda2253 Месяц назад

      Your explanation is a little wonky. Borg's win percentage is high b/c he dominated on clay when he played - and had he played beyond age 27, it could've been higher not necessarily lower. Nadal is playing until 37, way past his peak, and his win percentage is still in the 90s. They're both just gifted on clay.

    Nadal's record is obviously the most amazing stat in this video, but the fact that djokovic is still fourth all-time on his least favorite surface is also crazy. He honestly would probably be third or second if you discount his losses against nadal.

      Definitely impressive, but you can't discount his losses against Nadal - if that were the case Federer and a few other people would be on the list. 🤣 Also, you can't ignore the fact that Djokovic got so good on clay b/c of Nadal - Nole had to raise his level to beat him on clay; just like Nadal had to raise his level on hard and grass to compete with Federer.

      @@mrmaxmo1670There's a lot of clay, but I think hard court by itself (excluding indoor) has to have more tournaments. You have the AO and 2 weeks prior, the spring swing in the US/Asia/Mexico and then the Summer Swing. 3 GS, 4 M1000, for clay you have the swing before and after RG, and the one before RG is looong, more if you add the south American tournaments during the spring, but still!

      Tommy Paul says at 1:36 that he didn't think Bjorn Borg would be high on the list because he retired at 25 and didn't play as many matches.
      I suspect that the audio at the start that mentions "win-loss record" was probably only read to Kecmanovic, Tsitsipas and Hurkacz (read by the female interviewer) which is why it quickly/weirdly cuts to her audio. Honestly, I think the rest were interviewed by the male interviewer and he missed that part of the question.
      That's reading very far into it but I think that's what happened.

    Pretty clueless when it comes to the technical side of tennis, but what makes Nadal so dominant on clay? Say I know he plays heavy topspin but what makes topspin more important on clay than for hard court or grass?

    • @Sargento-vu7xf
      @Sargento-vu7xf 9 месяцев назад

      maybe topspin makes the ball go too high, Nadal takes advantage of that just simply coming into the court to finish the point.
      First matches against Roger were mindblowing because Nadal used the spin to make Roger feel uncomfortable with his one-handed backhand.
      On grass he could not do it because the ball does not bounce as high as it does on clay .
