Pints of mixed was a thing in Northern England until the 80s. Usually Best mixed with Mild...

Cracking review as ever mate! I love a mild, so looking forward to the head-to-head with the Elgoods.
I also love Adnams as a brewery and therefore very worried about the news that came out recently that they're struggling financially and are looking for external investment (as so many other breweries are at the moment). Really hope they don't go under or are bought out by one of the multinational conglomerates (AB InBev etc) who will destroy the beers.

Be a shame if it has to sell out..around the Manchester Area there are 4 family breweries with over 750 years of history between. Holt, Robinson, Lees & Hydes...amazingly still going with their tied pubs, cheers

Thanks for the review, I'll keep an eye out for it. Adnams is deffinetly one of the better British breweries. When I was in Lowestoft I used to drink Broardside and a very good cider, Adnams Black Rat. Yes , Adnams along with Fullers & Sam Smiths are three of the best British brewers, if you can find one of their pubs there is always something worth drinking, I wish I could say the same about many of the pubs you come across.

A fine beer as are all of their range and I know what you mean about the quality of the malt, I had the Broadside mini keg 4.7% ABV last Christmas and it's superb, nine pints for £20 they also have the Old Ale, Bitter and Ghost Ship on mini keg as well.

I think they call it an old ale as people nowadays don't know what mild beer is,,sells better with that name,(takes me back years ago when we all drunk brown and mild,😀)..

Funny you should mention that, I was only thinking about that the other day, I haven't heard of brown and mild in years. You would be lucky to finb brown ale in most pubs these days never mind a mild. I will give brown and mild a go when I get the chance.

the term mild beer is in reference to the beer not being aged. Old Ale is a similar style but the beer has been aged... hence the name.

I like this, although not quite as much as Broadside and Tally-ho.
