Dude that Balin fight with the bat was crazy. I really thought the prowler was gonna do some damage and I'm surprised that you accepted his cocked 6. Real Sportmanship
This is pretty much my main match up (or was outside lockdown). My main opponent brings Moria+Balrog as that's the models he owns and Dwarves are my favourite faction.
Balrog was engaged in combat and therefore shouldn't have been able to take a courage test when the army broke. However, the dwarf charged him without doing a terror check, so I'm not sure if that was addressed offscreen, and therefore meant the Balrog was unengaged.
@@StarcraftGT500 not too sure if he gets flying bonus in game but a lot of harcore fans get funny about balrog in Peter Jackson's version because in the original lore he doesn't have wings is my understanding You can find some cool lore vids about the balrog on RUclips
Finally got around to watching this video - love both armies (and am bringing them to a 550pt local event in a month). Do you ever Feint with the Balrog? Against most warriors, you're guaranteed to keep the FV advantage and makes the wounding mess ups much harder!
awesome battle. One thing I noticed was at 16:40 where you attacked Balin. Your first moved the batswarm, then re-positioned, then snuck in the Goblin, and then re-re-positioned the bat swarm. Is this allowed? officially it isnt, right?
yes, that goblin would not have been able to fit in there. Friendly game or not, that is a potentially game deciding combat so no room for villi nilli casual horsing arround while moving xD
@@MightyWolve true, I ment afterwards. killing balin was the deciding factor also. The dwaves had nothing to kill the balrog to begin with. khazad dum/ moria is just lacking in the powerlevel department, in unit choice, allies and composition. Just in my opinion. They also never win any tournaments and are rarely seen there to begin with.
Great question! Following the rules 100% to the letter it's not allowed. The idea was that what I should have done was moved the goblin first. We call it 'playing the intention' where if someone makes a minor measurement error or does something like this we go by there intention because that it what is most important. In a tournament I would have just been a bit more careful with my measuring. As far as Kazadums power level goes I think they are great. They came 2nd or 3rd place in a Brisbane tournament just earlier this year. There troops are all rock solid and they have a good ranged threat with solid mid tier heroes. They lack mobility but make up for it with numbers
@@ConquestCreations thanks man! I saw you compete in a few ardacon vids and knew there was some reasoning behind this. Totally makes sense. I’m wanting to start playing tourneys myself so this helps
Two books middle earth strategy battle game rules and then the armies of middle earth book for list for every faction in the game bar the Hobbit movies. There's also campaign books focusing on specific areas with more army lists with different flavours and extra special rules .
That rule is correct if you are playing the legendary legion. This army isn't the legion so it follows the normal rules. Don't worry I have lost of experience with this army ;)
They're literally the same. The kingdom of moria distinction is just a name change you can apply when running the version of the army led by Balin. Army special rules wise, the Khazad Dum bonus applies to kingdom of moria models.
I like your videos and personalities but please please be more steady with the camera haha. It going blurry so often is rough on the eyes, people that get nausea easily probably really struggle to watch your videos.
100% mate, couldn't agree more. This video was particularly bad with it. After each video I look at what I want to improve and for this video it's definitely the camera handling
@@ConquestCreations Thanks for listening to the feedback! I really enjoy your content, ideas, personality and narratives. The camera handling is my only real complaint. It also goes in and out of focus so so often. Don't be afraid to keep the camera still for a bit. The dice rolls and hearing reactions is where the real excitement comes from so no need to try to catch all the angles, just the really juicy shots when models line up in cool ways or important fights are playing out. Otherwise as long as we can see the dice and the big fights that's what's really important in my opinion. Overall though great stuff, the Middle Earth stuff is what got me watching, not to many channels that focus on it like you do. Just got into it recently so really like seeing it in action.
Thanks mate! I want to make the best Middle Earth content out there so I'll take all the critism I can get. Next battle report will be out soon and I'll address all of this!
I always think we get “dwarves” wrong in size strength and stature. We picture human dwarves in our mind like Tyrian Lannister. Based on their fighting power and strength I picture basically short 5’4” to 5’9” human looking creatures with bodybuilder physiques. Like the top of their heads would be chin height to men.
I reckon Middle Earth fans always think of Gimli when it comes to dwarves. He is the most iconic dwarf character in fantasy. Short, stocky, heavily armoured and armed, and has a big beard
Great report, the Balrog model is awesome as well as the terrain. Love Al's BMTH shirt as well.
Was a great game!! Thanks for having me on the channel jacob

Highly enjoyable game focusing on the important fights and otherwise summing up and removing the figures without showing all the dice rolls. Thanks
Thanks mate there are more on there way!
Agreed better way of viewing
Ive never had an evil army but this game has i spired me to get moria for my first one. Thanks for the video i love watching your battle reports.
evil is more fun in this game imo. they get all the cool monsters.

Dwarves of Kazadum are one of my next armies. It's a great thematic match up
Love the wings on the balrog, and the thematic matchup
Great job buddy, keep up the great work! Always excellent batreps!
Thanks mate there are more on there way
That was a really fun game to watch! Thanks for the upload.

Top job guys! Really enjoyable
Thanks mate!
Great battle, very thematic and quite tense! Camera was blurry a fair bit but no worries overall. Keep it up!
Brave Gobbos, more content plz!
This was an awesome game, looked like it was gonna be one sided at the start, but wow, what a turn around
Did you model your Balrog as a flying monster?!?! Are you actually looking for nerd-rage?? 😅
(Looks really cool)
Hahahah I did. I have been roasted a few times for it
I don't play this game, does flying give him a bonus on something?

Feinting with the Balrog is a great idea. Honestly the reason I didn't do it here was because I forgot to hahaha
So cool
you should take a look at the Halo 3 diorama ad insane build
LOVELY old school armies :)
like the goblins paint scheme

He could have first moved in that goblin and then the batswarm. Officialy it would not be allowed. But it would fit.

Your balrogs poor hand
I like the LOTR models 🧠
I can't find any models on your webstore. (aside from Saxonia buildings)
Are they no longer available?
You rly should use faint on that barlog when you are not using his brutal power attacks to reroll those 1. Otherwise it was a pleasure to watch!
I 100% should. I had a note pop up on the screen once but I forgot about it all game!
@@ConquestCreations hahahahaha I got You, you were too excited about smashing those dwarves to remember and that's completely understandable 😂.
I'm curious where one finds the army rules in Middle Earth sbg. I know they don't use codexes/battletomes, so where do you find the rules?

Great battle reports guys!
Just wondering, is the ruined terrain 3d printed? If so where is it from? Thanks!
Yeah it's 3D printed from RNE studio
Did Balin really spend 2 might to kill 2 goblins??????????????
If I send you a new Balrog model will you give yours a hand??
Hahaha I 100% would. I want to convert up a new Balrog to lead my army
Goblins army can not be broken as long as belrog has more then half his wounds

Midwinter minis sent me
The balrog isn’t even allied with the goblins 😂
Hahah what do you mean the Balrog is the leader of the Goblins!
He's the first model featured in the moria army list!
What was the list for Moria?
Balrog, Groblog, cave troll, bat swarm, 4 prowlers, and as many goblins as you can get with mainly spear and shield
