    I fond this lesson really helpful. I'm currently on lesson 16. basic present tense with talk to me in Korean and had a hard time trying to visualize how to use 아, 어,요.

    • @카리마드
      @카리마드 6 лет назад +8

      “요” is honorific expressions. You can use it when you are talking to an older person. Or maybe to a stranger for showing a respect. (It sends quite polite feelings) “아/어” is just for the normal sentences. But this is not respectful expressions, so you can use it for close relationship or the people who are younger than you. When you end sentences with “아/어” to a stranger, it would be rude maybe.

    • @ononymousdeity8220
      @ononymousdeity8220 3 года назад +1

      you use 아 if last vowel ends with 아 or 오. 어 is used for everything else except 아 and 오
      해요 is used only if it ends with 하다.

    Hi Minji. I’d just like to say 고망워요 for your videos on learning the Korean language. Been finding them really resourceful, thoughtfully planned out, pleasant and easy to take the information in.
    Just to share, after you’ve explained about 받침 (bat-chim) as a bottom consonant, the way I remember that is that both bat and bottom begin with b, and chim and consonant begin with c. Hope this helps people remember it better.

    Excellent video! Thanks for the examples and explanation! I didn't know what the "batchim" was called because I've been studying and memorizing things in a way that is slow at first and then picks up fast. I can give you the example sentences you teach here in Japanese if you would like. I've got those all memorized and used a few of them. Korean is pretty cool and similar to Japanese I've found. When I was in Japan, a friend of mine who was also a teacher, knew English and was studying Korean in her free time.
    In Japanese, the Verbs and their conjugations for present tense is as follows:
    Ex Sentences:
    行く(Iku) -> 行きます(Ikimasu) (Five Step Verb) どこ に 行きます + か Doko ni ikimasu ka? Where do you go? (か makes a sentence a question) としょかん に 行きます。 Toshokan ni ikimasu. I go to the library.
    買う(Kau) -> 買います(Kaimasu) (Five Step) 何 を 買いますか? Nani wo kaimasu ka? What do you buy? とふ を かいます。 Tofu wo kaimasu. I buy tofu.
    寝る(Nemuru) -> 寝ます(Nemasu) (One Step) いつ に 寝ますか? Itsu ni nemasu ka? When do you sleep? 十じ に 寝ます。 Juu ji ni nemasu. I sleep at 10.
    Without typing too much, That covers the first three. One step verbs, you just drop the "ru" and add "masu." Five step verbs, you change the last vowel (u) or consonant vowel pair from "u" or for example "ku" to "i" or "ki" and add "imasu.
    There are also two irregular verbs, but I won't touch them for now.... perhaps I should make a video.
    Some jerks here would say I should get a job, but they screwed up my life and are bad teachers, which is why I'm leaving here. Maybe I'll see you in Korea!

    so to understand it as easy as it is, all the verb ending with “a” and “o” must followed by “a-yo” and verbs that DOESN’T end with “a” and “o” should followed by “eo-yo” exception for the verb “ha-da” which means “to go” becomes ha+yeo-yo = “haeyo”

    I’m Chinese and I’ve been trying to learn Korean for the longest time, while most of the Sino-Korean vocabulary (which gives me a major “start up pack” in terms of my vocabulary bank) and English loanwords are pretty easy as well as the spelling system itself, it’s the verb endings, these conjugations and the honorific system that puts me off from learning how to form proper sentences and advance further in learning the language. It’s just not a feature of languages I’m fluent in (English & Chinese) and the grammatical structure is just so different. By the way tenses and conjugation are practically non-existent in the Chinese language, just so you know.
    我剛才吃~了 (I ate just now)
    我吃~ (I eat)
    我等一下才吃~ (I’ll eat later)
    In these three cases you just have to add the words “later” or “just now”, the root word of “吃” (eat) in Chinese doesn’t change its pronunciation at all.
