HELLO MR. Daniel CHEN, Thank for all the videos made about the violin. After knowing the standard position of the bridge,
I have the following question. The length of the gut for the tail piece can be adjusted so that the tailpiece can be closer or further away from the bridge. Is there a requirement of the LENGTH from the back of the BRIDGE to the contact point of the string on the tail piece ?? Will this distance affect the sound ?? Thank You.

I just want to share my experience and point out that violin here in the Philippines suffer from having a low fingerboard. As I am selling violin here I noticed that.
But the violin that arrived here from China and USA have Good fingerboard height. it is just the weather. and a new arrived violins will tend to bend if the string are tightened... the fingerboard will go down. So I always loosen the string and stock those violin for at least 6 months making it adjust to the weather before selling them. So far so good, my student are not having any problem with low fingerboard.
I learned from a costly mistake, I bought 2 violin worth 1k USD one I liked so much the other, well not so much because of the varnish color it was stashed away for months. The one I liked so much got tuned ASAP and with time the fingerboard went down. That was back in 2014 or 15?.(Going to get a neck reset) now the one that got stashed away, remain fine and one of my student is using it right now and the fingerboard is still the same as it came.
also the violins that I sold upon arrival suffer the same problem... so now I learned to stash them away for months before selling them.
What should the heights of the strings d & a be at the fingerboard end?
I have found 32mm or just above my favorite bridge height
lol - My double bass has a clearance less than 8mm! More like 5-6mm. This is a great little series though.
I just received a new fiddle for Christmas. Is it a good idea to replace the bridge from my older violin if i am not comfortable with the new one?
Or should i try to reshape the new bridge instead?
It is a little too high for my liking and the strings are closer together.

I have a strange issue. My bridge which I bought today is measuring aprox. 34mm and the height of the fingerboard is around 20 - 21mm
But the strings clearance for E string is about astonishingly high 26mm instead of the 3 mm you recommended. What could be causing this? I am unable to tune nor play (obviously) :). Awaiting your advice.
you only bought a bridge material, you need to go to a violin maker to fix it to suit your violin. In Japan the charge of this work costs at least 10000 yen which is 100 USD. thanks
