So I for one enjoyed this special Anything based around Sunset is going to be automatically top tier. Even though we’re getting that holiday special I think this would have been a good send off to this universe. I had a couple grapes with this as anyone would this wasn’t prefect but any means. It was fun to watch once and is fun to watch reactions of it. I was hoping for Applejack to be more involved here but she was in springBreakdown quite a bit so that’s fine. Surprised and confused that RainbowDash didn’t take the chance to “Rainbow Laser” the bad guys. Like she was Obsessed with last time. Rarity didn’t have much screen time that’s a plus. (I’ve stated before I dislike her). So ya overall 8.5 out of 10. Reason being that they glossed over why sunset was immune wallflower blush was totally ignored at first and the dazzlings were just there.. Didn’t add anything to us for the plot. Just to prove the red herring about them not being a repeat villain.
And yet, I felt like they left much more of an impression on me by affecting things in the more subtle way that they did. Especially dropping two truth bombs on Sunset.

If the Dazzlings are travelling in that tour van, and one day arrive to Canterlot High, they can discover the leaking magic from the portal. Sonata said, they call dibs on Equestrian magic, so they can get a power up from the portal's magic. But if that's the case, it has to be on All Hallow's Eve. According to the medieval belief magic is on it's greatest power on Halloween, so that could effect the leaking magic from the portal and the HuMane sevens geodes. If the Dazzlings absorb that powerful magic, it could transform them into more terrifying monsters, and if they return to Equestria they could do serious havoc. And if the magic enchants objects that belong to Snips and Snails it could transform them into winged freaks like the first time, and then they will start messing up people's lives in the human world. Two threats at once! That's a good idea for a Halloween EQG special. We need to see more of the Dazzlings, and a special where Canter Zoom is going to give Juniper another chance. Everyone deserves a second chance, Sunset should know.
I'm happy you enjoyed this! I too am a huge Sunset fan so it was great to see how much focus she got in this. Lots of fun with the time-loop plot. Great seeing how much focus her relationship with Pinkie got too; as you said it hasn't gotten much focus previously. I do want to say that while I did really enjoy this when I first saw it, I was initially a bit disappointed with how little time the Dazzlings got. I was one of those who were hyped to see them and hoped they would get a big focus, so while I enjoyed seeing them I felt wanting more. You made some great points though that they didn't need to be a major focus, and played the role they were given well. While I still want to see more Dazzlings stuff in the future, this wasn't a bad use of them. I always love hearing your perspective on things because it makes me reconsider my own thoughts and feelings about the piece and while you don't watch with an uncritical eye your general enthusiasm is infectious. According to Nick Confalone this is likely the last EqG special, which saddens me both because I still hope for a real finale to the spin-off, and because Fluttershy still needs a special of her own in particular, like the others have gotten. Hopefully something more still comes out of the franchise.

I knew the Dazzlings would be back because of the music videos. Which kind of ticked me off because it sort of spoiled that they would be the villain... Except they weren't. It's like they did that on purpose. They plastered the Dazzlings all over the promos and misdirected my expectations, which completely caught me off guard when the twist happened. Something tells me that was completely intentional. Make people go in right off the bat expecting the Dazzlings to be the conflict. Brilliant. I'm actually quite surprised that you were able to catch onto the twist, and so quickly. Sadly, from what I understand, Equestria Girls is finished. There might be one or two specials ready to air whenever they decide to air them, but there have been tweets from people working on the show and the studio is no longer working on any more.

I almost want to think this special was inspired more by Happy Death Day 2 You since she was woken up by a mobile phone alarm, more than Groundhog's Day, since that's the new, hot thing right now (and I actually liked both of those movies), except well... y'know, more G rated conflict and no murderer thing. But I mean removing all the murder and horror elements, the way it took place was almost exactly the same as that first Happy Death Day movie.
I think it's a good movie, by the way. You just have to be ready for the idea that it's more on the comedy side of horror, and that it doesn't take itself seriously for a reason. The reason it has mixed reviews was because I think people were expecting more horror than the comedy it ended up being. The second movie has an even more mixed reaction with critics as it's more absurdist and ridiculous than even the first one, and that really threw people off. But it was still successful enough with some people to make a good amount of money and I am one of those people that like both Happy Death Day movies. Though the first one is definitely better. However, yeah this special was structured almost exactly like that movie. If you see it, you'll note the similarities right away.

ᵗʰᵉNight★Star people like to trash things they don’t understand or believe that a concept was ruined by the new twist on it. people don’t like change it’s one of the main reasons a lot of people didn’t like the star wars films.
The highlights of this special were definitely seeing the Sirens back, Sunset & Pinkie's cute shenanigans, and PostrCrush being a cool new addition. Seeing Wallflower in the background with her improvement was nice, too. The special didn't completely escape issues, though. The biggest one being that I feel there's a rather large plot hole. That being why is Sunset being affected by the Time Twirler in the first place? Unless I missed something major, it makes no sense. Nobody else ended up in a timeloop, so why did she? All I can think of is that because she's from Equestria, it specifically affects her and not anyone else, or because she witnessed it being used from the top of that hill the first time. But that's just my headcanon, I don't think they ever explained that in the special itself, which is kind of a problem. Secondly, while I like PostCrush as the antagonists, I felt like the story was a bit too predictable, even for children. It was so predictable, I was kinda hoping for a more impressive twist in the middle of the whole thing. I thought it would've been a cool twist if Pinkie ended up being the one using the Time Twirler, because Sunset kept continuously "ruining" her perfect day, and she just wanted to have a fun day with her, but was unable to because of her short attention span. Dunno, maybe doing that would've been a bit too un-Pinkie like, but it would've been more unpredictable and I think it could have worked well if done the right way. If they wanted to go a more comical route, it would have been absolutely hilarious if it actually DID end up being a calendar company behind it all, and Pinkie was right the whole time. :P
Something I've noticed about MLP's episode listings has given be a bit of a theory. Every single episode is listed except for the finale and just the 2 episodes before it. It's been like this for a good while now. The final 2 episodes I can understand even the name being secret. Keep everything under wraps. But isn't it kind of interesting how the 2 episodes before it are also unlisted? 23, 24, 25, and 26. Do you think we might get a 4 part finale like Avatar did? That would be amazing.

First one to accuse post crush before the Dazzlings that I've seen. Personally I think that they overhyped the Dazzlings return they give them a music video and make them seem like they'll be the main focus and bad guy and they get like 1/10 of the special's screen-time feels like a lost opportunity .
Actually further thinking about it Hasbro overhyped the Dazzlings if they had done what they did for Trixie’s “Tricks up my Sleeve” song (have a piece in the movie then release the whole thing afterwards) it would have made the introduction of the Dazzlings more impactful and not have caused the hype that they were reappearing and possibly causing the overhype

Whenever I would see any kind of spanking when I was doing some spanking *giggity* of my own I would skip because I would lose interest because I found spanking so boring. Then lo and behold... I keep seeing Sunset getting smacked on her... hind-quarters made of... sexy... repeatedly, saying "Thank you!" and smiling ecstatically. So yeah, Equestria Girls helped me find out that I could like spanking... I just happen to have a very specific preference... this being the only confirmed instance of me liking "spanking". I'm left concluding: FiM and EQG have exceeded their purpose quite a bit when they help someone learn something this intimate about themselves this late in life.

Sunset is immune because she's from Equestria, and it's Equestrian magic. That's the only explanation I got. And even that isn't air tight because the Dazzlings aren't aware of the reset. Or maybe you could reason that the destruction of their gems means they aren't magical anymore.

And the big wave of magic we see didn’t go past the hill so anyone past that point was still affected but kept their memories of the day. I also believe I can answer Question 3 Magical artifacts from equestria thrown into the human world are just now being found. I can safely say that it was most likely starswril the bearded who probably banished it. He banished the dazzlings makes sense he would do it again right? So during his original time in equestria he could have banished a lot of artifacts to the human world. You’re misunderstanding your Question 5 Accusing the dazzlings does make sense because they could drain magic from the audience restart the day but still keep that magic. It’s the time loop theory say you’re caught in a time loop and one those days you cut off your arm at the limb Because it’s a time loop it loops time not actions you do so you’re wake up without that arm still. So sunset assumed they got their magic back and was using the time thing to drain negative energy again again and again. Now the post crush thing. Ya i agree their reformation was kinda force but look at it this way They got caught up in the fame and fortune and stopped being friends they reunited to honor their fans So they wanted their reunion to be prefect Their fighting and imprecation is what broke them up right? Fixing that will make them continue being friends and a band. At their core they weren’t being selfish about it they were just trying to have the prefect day. Everyone suffers from wanting to make one day prefect. Proof the writers still see these characters as human. As a whole i for one enjoyed this special but post crush by far the weakest villains.
I don't think they were reformed, they're just.... living their lives. Their gems are broken so they can't manipulate people anymore. Now they're just passing their days with music because they still enjoy the attention. It explains why they never came back before.... there's no threat from them anymore. They're still bitches, but they're just as harmless as any other normal human bitches.

I almost want to think this special was inspired more by Happy Death Day 2 You since she was woken up by a mobile phone alarm, more than Groundhog's Day, since that's the new, hot thing right now (and I actually liked both of those movies), except well... y'know, more G rated conflict and no murderer thing. But I mean removing all the murder and horror elements, the way it took place was almost exactly the same as that first Happy Death Day movie.
I think it's a good movie, by the way. You just have to be ready for the idea that it's more on the comedy side of horror, and that it doesn't take itself seriously for a reason. The reason it has mixed reviews was because I think people were expecting more horror than the comedy it ended up being. The second movie has an even more mixed reaction with critics as it's more absurdist and ridiculous than even the first one, and that really threw people off. But it was still successful enough with some people to make a good amount of money and I am one of those people that like both Happy Death Day movies. Though the first one is definitely better. However, yeah this special was structured almost exactly like that movie. If you see it, you'll note the similarities right away.
I loved how she'd sometimes commit suicide to reset the day.
I had a good laugh watching it. Definitely fun.

The highlights of this special were definitely seeing the Sirens back, Sunset & Pinkie's cute shenanigans, and PostrCrush being a cool new addition. Seeing Wallflower in the background with her improvement was nice, too. The special didn't completely escape issues, though. The biggest one being that I feel there's a rather large plot hole. That being why is Sunset being affected by the Time Twirler in the first place? Unless I missed something major, it makes no sense. Nobody else ended up in a timeloop, so why did she? All I can think of is that because she's from Equestria, it specifically affects her and not anyone else, or because she witnessed it being used from the top of that hill the first time. But that's just my headcanon, I don't think they ever explained that in the special itself, which is kind of a problem. Secondly, while I like PostCrush as the antagonists, I felt like the story was a bit too predictable, even for children. It was so predictable, I was kinda hoping for a more impressive twist in the middle of the whole thing. I thought it would've been a cool twist if Pinkie ended up being the one using the Time Twirler, because Sunset kept continuously "ruining" her perfect day, and she just wanted to have a fun day with her, but was unable to because of her short attention span. Dunno, maybe doing that would've been a bit too un-Pinkie like, but it would've been more unpredictable and I think it could have worked well if done the right way. If they wanted to go a more comical route, it would have been absolutely hilarious if it actually DID end up being a calendar company behind it all, and Pinkie was right the whole time. :P

Something I've noticed about MLP's episode listings has given be a bit of a theory.
Every single episode is listed except for the finale and just the 2 episodes before it. It's been like this for a good while now. The final 2 episodes I can understand even the name being secret. Keep everything under wraps.

First one to accuse post crush before the Dazzlings that I've seen. Personally I think that they overhyped the Dazzlings return they give them a music video and make them seem like they'll be the main focus and bad guy and they get like 1/10 of the special's screen-time feels like a lost opportunity .
I actually feel like they were used perfectly, and that anyone expecting more from them were the ones overhyping them lol

Actually further thinking about it Hasbro overhyped the Dazzlings if they had done what they did for Trixie’s “Tricks up my Sleeve” song (have a piece in the movie then release the whole thing afterwards) it would have made the introduction of the Dazzlings more impactful and not have caused the hype that they were reappearing and possibly causing the overhype

14:51 yeah... Before I watched this special five times I was pretty sure I disliked spanking... a lot. Whenever I would see any kind of spanking when I was doing some spanking *giggity* of my own I would skip because I would lose interest because I found spanking so boring. Then lo and behold... I keep seeing Sunset getting smacked on her... hind-quarters made of... sexy... repeatedly, saying "Thank you!" and smiling ecstatically. So yeah, Equestria Girls helped me find out that I could like spanking... I just happen to have a very specific preference... this being the only confirmed instance of me liking "spanking". I'm left concluding: FiM and EQG have exceeded their purpose quite a bit when they help someone learn something this intimate about themselves this late in life.

Sunset was on the hill when they used the time thing first.
And the big wave of magic we see didn’t go past the hill so anyone past that point was still affected but kept their memories of the day.

Magical artifacts from equestria thrown into the human world are just now being found.
I can safely say that it was most likely starswril the bearded who probably banished it.

Accusing the dazzlings does make sense because they could drain magic from the audience restart the day but still keep that magic.
It’s the time loop theory say you’re caught in a time loop and one those days you cut off your arm at the limb
Because it’s a time loop it loops time not actions you do so you’re wake up without that arm still.
So sunset assumed they got their magic back and was using the time thing to drain negative energy again again and again.
Now the post crush thing.

They got caught up in the fame and fortune and stopped being friends they reunited to honor their fans
So they wanted their reunion to be prefect
Their fighting and imprecation is what broke them up right? Fixing that will make them continue being friends and a band.
At their core they weren’t being selfish about it they were just trying to have the prefect day.
Everyone suffers from wanting to make one day prefect.
Proof the writers still see these characters as human.
As a whole i for one enjoyed this special but post crush by far the weakest villains.

Their gems are broken so they can't manipulate people anymore.
