Μαίναλο, Δάσος Βλαχέρνα, Ράχη Καρασούλου - Mountain Mainalo, Vlacherna Forest, Greece, Relaxation

Η Βλαχέρνα είναι σκαρφαλωμένη στις βόρειες πλαγιές του Μαινάλου, χτισμένη σε υψόμετρο 950 μ. και σε απόσταση 32 χλμ. από την Τρίπολη. Το χωριό έχει προσεγμένη ρυμοτομία, καλούς δρόμους, πλατείες και παραδοσιακές βρύσες.
Πάνω από τη Βλαχέρνα ορθώνεται επιβλητικός βράχος σε ύψος 1.150 μ. και μέσα στα έλατα, το κάστρο του Μπεζενίκου, όπου το 1458 οι Έλληνες προέβαλαν ηρωική αντίσταση κατά των στρατευμάτων του Μωάμεθ Β’ του Πορθητή και το 1826 κατά του Ιμπραήμ.
Στο κάτω μέρος του χωριού έγινε στις 21 Ιουλίου 1944 η μάχη της Βλαχέρνας κατά των Γερμανών. Για το λόγο αυτό έχει στηθεί μνημείο της Εθνικής Αντίστασης στην είσοδο του χωριού από Τρίπολη.
Η Βλαχέρνα έχει χαρακτηριστεί παραδοσιακός οικισμός, ενώ έχει ενταχθεί και στο δίκτυο Μαρτυρικών χωριών.

Vlacherna is perched on the northern slopes of Menalo (Mainalo), built at an altitude of 950 m and at a distance of 32 km from Tripoli. The village has careful roads, good roads, squares, and traditional fountains.
