G'day, Ah, yes, 1963...; I recall it well. "Beat your Swords into Ploughshares....!" Because, the Nukeyoulater Hydrogen Bomb hath made thy surplus Yanqui Tankies all obsolete, y'see. So, have at it, olde mate, chop 'em uppities, cut 'em & shut 'em... Such is Life, ;-p Ciao !
0:16 "6cyl witch one one is used" What? what did he do with the rest of the crankshaft? you cant simply remove the piston as it would cause imbalance and keeping them would have ALOT of friction force since of piston rings are 80% of the friction in an engine.
The 6-71 was actually used in different farm tractors; the engine is easy to work on and parts easily available even today. We had a 6-71 in the old Oliver we had; it would burn kerosene with a little Pennsylvania crude mixed in. A 71 series Detroit Diesel engine is a good reliable engine.
This is awesome. That’s a creative and resourceful farmer.
First,in India,
Good onya, Bruce!!!
Full circle - tractor to tank to tractor : plough share to sword to plough share.
Not gonna lie though, would prefer the tank.
Does anybody know if this tractor still exists? Would love to know it's fate. Also does anyone know where this is taken?
Yeah at least two of these modified tanks still exist.
This is my wife's granddad. He was in Wedderburn, Victoria Australia

The Stuart tank was a twin engine tank - this guy just used a single engine, not a single cylinder. :-) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M3_Stuart
The mighty Detroit 6-71. Good choice.
