That's super, I have the steam roller. It's about 55 years old now. So sad they closed. Lucky you got it.

Mamods are a timeless classic not much changed since the rollers were introduced in 1961 and traction engines in 1963. It's definitely is sad they closed the past 4 years I have gotten all of Mamods limited editions to support the company. It was a good thing them doing yearly releases the first rollers were about 50 and then the 60th traction engine was 200 units all sold out. I don't know how many old stumpys there were made my guess 40 to 50. With the fuel tablets being heavily restricted and the rent for the workshop going up they had no choice but to call it a day. I do hope they do limited edition runs in the future in small numbers to keep the brand alive.

It's great looking engine and something different from a standard Mamod and if you was buy a brand new Mamod te1a its only £12.40 extra.

Thanks im glad you enjoyed the video. I did hear about boilers that had leaks with the 60th Anniversary Tractor. It looks like Mamod is starting to turn it around under it's new owners. They seem to be more connected with the community and listens to the feedback they get. They have made a whole spares website which is a brilliant idea.

I got a Mamod TE1a just like that when I was 10 back in 1970. It
cost less than £7 from our local toy shop. I had to do odd jobs around the house at 10d (0ld pennies) per hour to earn the money.

That gas heater is a terrific bit of kit👍🏻
Do they make one for use with the Mamod cars and fire engine ?
Cracking video and Stumpy looks superb😎

Hi, I believe they make them for most Mamod models and also wilesco. It's a Bix Gas Burner I got mine from Forest Classics a few years ago it's a bit pricey but well worthwhile upgrade. No soot and can control the heat output.

It's actually the SR1A boiler, with the new firebox with the water level glass with the TE1 whistle, with a plastic handle, and the standard cylinder, crankshaft and flywheel and wheels and even the same canopy, with a new paint scheme.
I see they come with boiler bands now, AND TIRES! Still no steering wheel mechanism!

    How did you buy it?
I heard that the factory closed down?
So how do you buy new ones now ❓

Hi, this was the last limited edition model they done at the start of 2024. Not sure how many they made but my guess less than 50.
Mamod has stopped making models but I think the spares website is still open.
The best place to buy a new old stock Mamod is probably Forest Classics or Milbury Model Company. They don't seem to have a big range of what Mamods are left but worth giving them a call. You could also look around online at other retailers who might have some left. Then there is ebay sometimes you can pick up unfired ones but there are many secondhand ones out there.

Hey up mate looks so sweet being stumpy and having tires, never liked the plastic steam controller since i first seen one also the canopy looks wrong seems to far back and the brass screw thing at the front is so out of place

It's definitely a nice model and is most likely the last limited edition Mamod if they don't make a return. The canopy does look a bit odd going that far back but if you compare it to full size Traction Engine being a Tasker A2 the canopy on them went quite far back and is tall and skinny they were only a 3 ton Tractor and stumpy like the Mamod model.

Bought mine in 1966 powered by meth/spirit which gave of a nice odour, it had the steering wheel you placed down the funnel, in 66 it cost 5 pound, and i still have it.

That's brilliant, the smell of the meths brings back so many memories for people. Model Steam engines is a great hobby I have quite a big collection which can be seen in my Great Model Steam Fair videos.
