Association Football / Rugby Football. rugby football came to n.a. First and then split apart. Association football was shorted to Soccer Football in Europe and then eventually to football and footy. When it came to n.a. It took the Soccer part in order to differentiate. It’s Soccer and it’s correctly named that way for a reason
