Dont worry about a 20 minute video, showing the full process without moving too quickly or making mistakes is very valuable info. People who cant sit down to watch a longer video about flintknapping dont seem to understand this hobby at all. Patience is king.
@@SolutreanSpear Thank you
Even with problems, you made it look simple . Great job, looking forward to your next one, thanks

It's beautiful material, I like how you overcame the step fracture by knapping from the end, and fixing the broken tip. Great video. Thanks.

All I do is slabs so I would be interested in a series. I just bought all four of your indirect tools and so far I really like them.
@melvinrose95 Thank you, I appreciate that, and we'll be doing more of these slab videos in the coming weeks.
Slab series sounds really cool!
@@SolutreanSpear I have several more planned, Thanks for watching
Very nice work fella! I sure do like the black novaculite.
@clintevans3886 Thanks, Clint
Hitting under the center line, the inertia of the whole preform helps: it “holds” the piece in place while the force of the percussive impact detaches the flake. Hitting above the center line, the force of the percussive impact acts not mostly on the future flake but on the entire mass of the preform as a whole, hence risking cracking the piece into two. But this is my personal experience and I am no expert. :)
@@Ateesh6782 spot on, thanks for posting

@DavidEllis-vv6vy I can't say I've ever had that problem. US the handle of your ishi stick rough?
