I am about to have a knee replacement, and I am worried about what I will be able to do. So I came across this while trying to research, and I feel so much better! Thanks for posting this!
Thank you Bob. I am a 51 year old with crazy arthritic knees from the years of a wonderful career onstage but seven knee surgeries nonetheless. My acl has been reconstructed twice and has clearly disintegrated since the last patch job in 2003. Anyways, I have been considering replacement for quite some time. I still teach and remain physical but not gonna lie, as time passes it gets harder. Thank you for sharing your experience with us dancers. We always hear and see those come back from hip replacement but I haven’t heard of “us” returning from knee replacement. You have given me so much hope. I am actually a little emotional watching your journaling. Bless you! How are you doing now? Two years later?
Thanks for you encouragement - have you seen my two latest videos? Unfortunately I've contracted a bacterial infection in my first knee replacement. It has meant having two more operations to deal with it. Just had the first, waiting for the second in March. I made and posted two videos on this. Sorry to hear about your ACL - that's a tough reconstruction to recover from.
I just started watching your videos on your TKR and wanted thank you for sharing your journey. I’m a 60 ballet teacher pro level and have had to cut back quite a bit. I get around well because I’m in great shape, so I’m apprehensive about putting my body through TKR. Your videos are so helpful. I see they only go to 9 months and I’m hoping you’ll continue your progress. I hope you are doing well. God Bless🙏
I am an amateur jazz dancer and I have been learning a lot from your channel about history of jazz, technique as I try to continue to improve! I hope all is going well with your recovery... haven't seen a recent video so wish you well and look forward to seeing more content from you! All the best
Any updates on your knee replacement and dancing? I’d just love to be able to take basic beginning ballet and jazz again without my knee swelling up after. Blew out my knee landing a jump wrong in my 30’s and 50 now with option for TKR. Not sure if I should yet. How’s it going for you?
Hi Jodi, I'm much improved on the replacement. Knee is strong, although it still has some clicks during movement. I'm going in for the other knee tomorrow, but this time only a partial replacement. Should be an easier recovery. Thanks for asking!
@@bboross great! I think I can handle some clicks as long as I can do a little dance without being crippled with swelling and pain the day after. My knees have always been noisy with pops during plies anyway. I wish you all the luck tomorrow to get your dancing soul flying again!

I'm very happy to see you dancing again, even if you can see a little difficulty in your face. I can wait for the next videos !
Good to see you getting back to normal. You are a better patient than most.
Thanks, I’m trying to get back to normal asap.
