  • This Gacharic Spin reaction is genuinely my first time ever hearing their song "I Wish I". It was quite a feast for the ears! Busy, but also groovy with some great breaks throughout. Delightful song by Gacharic Spin there.

When I do my reaction videos I don't press pause because I don't want to interrupt the natural flow of the music as it was originally intended by the artist. I try to vocalise my thoughts in real time as I listen to the song, and then summarise my reaction afterwards.
Please do recommend songs or other artists for me to checkout in future by commenting on this video! I'm constantly on the lookout for great new music and things I've never heard before.

Fantastic! I absolutely love this song and band (as a non musician). You are correct, the lyrics are important and powerful. One more piece of ear candy, Check out Tamashii (live). Their live energy is must see.

The band's new drummer yuri was on maternity leave during the song recording so original drummer Hana filled in. A tour drummer subbed in the video while Hana sang second lead and played the guitar with LEDs (her new position). This song and the album it came from were heavily influenced by the COVID lockdown in Japan. The nude is band founder and bassist KOGA, and her figure and the darkening shadows represent the vulnerability and sense of impending doom the Japanese people felt as the lockdown went on and on and on, followed by relief as it finally ended. The multi-layered lyrics are a reflection of the chaotic online arguments that took place as people with opposing viewpoints about the disease and response tried to out-shout each other. Pink-haired Angie was finishing high school at the time and she was genuinely saddened and frightened by the events and wondered what sort of future world she'd have to live in.

Nice reaction again! Next stop with GS is usually the live performance of Tamashii, but agreed with another comment that Gold Dash would also be another good choice.

Hey @Home Gnome just thought you'd want to know that Gacharic Spin is making some of their past livestreams available again on Zaiko =)
One a month, available for a week, leading up to their 13th Anniversary Livestream on Oct 8.
Aug 10-17 (Angie's Coming of Age Concert, first made available in April 2022)
Sept 10-17 (Gachatto TV Gacha PINPON special, originally broadcast end of last year, beginning of this year) - it's more of a talk/variety show, but they also put together some music videos special for the show.
Sept 30 - Oct 7 (THANK YOU GS 12th anniversary, broadcast last year on Oct 8). It was Yuri's return from maternity leave, so Levin played the majority. Yuri played 6 songs.
Oct 8 - 15 (THANK YOU GS 13th anniversary special live).
All the info is available on their website, but I figured you may not have seen some of these yet!

@@krislea292 Thanks Kris - I'd seen on twitter that there were things being made available but had thought it was likely for fan club members only. I saw Angie's concert when it was first on Zaiko (Wave also has a reaction to the whole concert on his Patreon) but not seen the others before. Will for sure be watching the 13th anniversary concert and probably the others too! 😁👍

@@homegnome2429 Yeah, I missed out on a few things when I first became a fan two years ago since their twitter isn't always very clear. I wanted to make sure you knew about it!
I try to look for the words "rochike live streaming" in their tweets, since that means they're using zaiko. Tickets for everything are on sale Friday.

Gacharic Spin is a unique band, phenomenal playing, high energy, fun to watch and listen to. I want to know how they got Tomo Zo to stand still during the opening, she’s usually shredding while doing gymnastics.

Now those ones are REALLY crazy and unpredictable. Always been! Each of them is crazy good too, and sings (except bassist Koga, but she's the spokewoman), and could easily be leader of their own band. Live is their forte, they're one of the most funny, energetic et generous bands on stage. They are on my top 5 list of bands I want to see live.

There probably are a lot of songs of them, that you will like (regarding the chaos-factor) and there also are some, that are totally overlayed action-filled pieces of the sonsory-overload-category haha. You never know with Gacharic Spin.
Definitely try some live stuff of them to understand them better and also some acoustic performances, I promise they are beatiful.
    Cheers :)

Great reaction, just an amazing band that keeps evolving and changing over the yerars since forming in 2009. The four original members are still the same (bass, guitar, keys, drummer), but they've added a new drummer (old drummer moved to guitar) and new front singer, Angie (pink hair) in 2019 and their music changed a bit and this song and Mindset are the newest.

    "They have arrived"
Love it! By the way, their official channel has live versions of both this song and Mindset. They both come from the same concert in January, which the band is making available again later in August. I think online tickets go on sale later this week or early next week.
You mentioned that there's a lot of complexity that could make their music a touch inaccessible. Funnily enough, an interview one of the members did last year mentioned that on their most recent album (which both your reactions come from) they'd actually pulled back a bit on the craziness so that the individual parts could be heard more clearly.
I hope you watch more Gacharic Spin! You'll be in for a wild ride.

I just can't get enough Gacharic Spin! They manage to scratch the itches I have for great melody and song writing as well as musical complexity. Also they're absolutely ridiculous live!
I agree with other comments that Gold Dash or TAMASHII live are great next stops for them, or you could try some older stuff, or really any of their stuff, they cover a lot of territory!
If you want to hear something completely different from them, their acoustic work is beauty beyond compare, here's a performance of their track "ALIVE - Ganbare Nippon!" from their 2013 Delicious Live show: ruclips.net/video/7JeL22oOnZg/видео.html

I believe it is time Mr Steve gets introduced to Hanabie (pronounced Hana-bee-eh) yet another fantastic Japanese, all-female band that are very innovative and blurr the lines between genres. "We love sweets" is always an excellent place to start. "Sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar never ever... sugar FOREVER!!" 🤘
Edit: added link to the song.
