Some people think that Tom Ellis is the best thing about this.
Others love Lauren, Ella, Linda, Maze, I mean the cast is loaded with fan favorites for a reason.
But none is as hilarious and entertaining and impressive to me as Trixie.

Erik is right, police procedures are of little importance compared to the general plot, and as the story progresses they will have less relevance. The character of Dr. Linda Martin is one of the main characters of the show and will help Lucifer in understanding the different feelings that appear in him. As you already know, Lucifer has been permanently on earth since 2011, and until the moment he begins to interact with Chloe, Lucifer never bothered to understand his own feelings. The reality is that deep down Lucifer has a very poor opinion of humans , but this is because in hell Lucifer only interacted with the worst of humans, which is why Lucifer is fascinated not only with Chloe but with other human beings with kindness, that is why Lucifer reacted when his therapist pointed out that he not only finds pleasure in punishing the guilty but in seeking justice for the good ones.
Though the fact that it _is_ a procedural was one of the reasons I watched initially - the idea of _The_ Devil as one half of a CBS style "chalk and cheese" police procedural just really tickled me (even now it still makes me smile :).
Linda's a great therapist. Consider that she doesn't believe he's actually the devil. She is working within his "metaphor" and is STILL helping him.
I actually really like the police cases.... i think it works. “CRIME SOLVING DEVIL, 🎶 IT MAKES SENSE, DON’T OVER THINK IT🎶”
Linda is one of the best characters in the show. I'm glad she wasn't a one off.

Linda is a therapist AND a great addition to the cast. Lucifer pays in "services rendered" for his sessions.
In regards to the killers talking and telling them they did it, I think the guilty tend to want to explain and justify their actions. Their guilt compels them to do that. If you don't have a lawyer sitting there telling you to shut up, in the middle of the accusations that you did it by the police a person automatically wants to defend themselves and explain how it wasn't their fault, or to relieve their guilty conscience. Just the human condition for most people, I think. I find it believable in these situations for those reasons. It's just how I see these things in cop shows. In Lucifer, I also think he has a general effect on people around him other than when he is focusing on them to reveal their desires. So that helps to accept those confessions being made, as well.
More generally, one foundation of many real-life interrogations (where, unlike on a lot of cop shows, you're not really allowed to threaten, shout, bang the table or usually even lie to the suspect) is, leave silences and most people will feel an urge to fill them. Sometimes works for negotiating pay rises too BTW :).
It's also relating to their defeat. They feel like there's no point in hiding anymore since they're caught red handed so they just state their case, like you said to relieve their guilt. Or to try and justify their actions.
The way Lucifer is depicted is so GOOD in this show

And sure, Chloe is "going along with it", but it made sense to me because she's an inquisitive person. It was like she's trying to suss him out, see how it all ticks before making a move. Plus in the end it benefits her and he's fun so lol

Lucifer's presence wills them to tell the truth, that is why they spill the beans so easily and confess.

It’s another good episode.
Lucifer is very narcissistic and thinks only about himself which starts to change as the series progresses ...Linda is someone that helps him sort through all his feelings whether they are emerging or unresolved that he buries deep within with his debauchery & hedonistic behavior.
The police procedural aspect is my least favorite aspect of the series and if you hear the showrunners talk ..it seemed like they had to structure it that way because of Fox otherwise it wouldn’t be made. the characters take more of a front seat as the show progresses while the cases take more of a backseat.
I love that this video just kinda dissolved into the “how many wings” discourse ... that is just so on brand for blind wave and I love it

Indeed. He's been nerfed for the TV show but Lucifer is the second most powerful being in the entire DC universe (after only The Presence - or "dear old dad" as this incarnation of Lucifer might call him :).

Nerd fact: Tom Ellis was in Doctor who as Dr Tom Milligan in the episode Last of the Time Lords and in the episode after was Russel Tovey who played the the midshipman Alonso Frame on the Titanic, he also played The Ray in both Crisis on Earth-X and Crisis on Infinite Earths.
They never plead the fifth at the end of an episode on cop procedural shows, the criminal always confesses for the expediency of the plot. One of my favorite moments of Castle is the ending of the episode "Time Will Tell" when the murderer doesn't say a damn thing when confronted with the evidence.

To be fair to Chloe, I would also not believe some random man child who claimed he was the devil lol. Yes weird stuff is happening around him, but I'd need something SOLID. Is he a con artist? Is he a magician, is he insanely lucky, is he literally just insane, so HE thinks he's telling the truth? etc.

What Dr. Linda is doing is not ethical... but her character is awesome. She's become one of my favorites. So glad she wasn't a one-off. She's one of the best parts of the show, as it goes on.

I really like this show but it does feel a bit too silly at times tbh 4:53 6:23 11:02. One example is how easy it usually feels for them to close the case - after very little prompting the killer just cracks & tells them everything (even w/out Lucifer messing w/ their head).

The only reason Superman, Batman, ect are not part of this world is because of licensing. The comic version of Lucifer that this is *very very loosely* based off started with Sandman. And Sandman does speak with Martian Manhunter and Constantine. Technically since Lucifer is multiversal they are all the same character. The comic version is a lot less sympathetic, the second most powerful being in the multiverse, and looks like David Bowie.

This episode is one of my least favorites because the sports agent just folds right away and tells them everything instead of asking for his lawyer. I know they probably wanted to wrap up the story and explain why he did what he did or how it went so wrong that night, but I just remember thinking, dude, ask for a lawyer! You don't have to say everything and incriminate yourself so hard.
It just felt like too-easy writing, a bit lazy. But the next episode is terrific (one of my favorites of the entire series) and there are plenty of awesome episodes to come, so I can hand-wave this one and just skip re-watching it.

Lol yeah the procedural part of the show isn’t realistic and not really thoughtfully considered during the writing process other than to serve its purpose of furthering character arcs. I have to ignore blatantly ridiculous things (you know, besides the whole supernatural aspect) to appreciate what it means to the overall plot and character development
