I love this episode. Seeing Lianfang finally facing the consequences of her actions was satisfying. Knowing that the GM had to sit there and listen to every awful thing she's done was icing on the cake. She spent months protecting Lianfang and excusing her behavior. Now she was face to face with irrefutable evidence of all of Lianfang's crimes. She can't do anything but listen to how she nearly destroyed the Xu family so that she can prevent Shiyi from ever returning. I loved every minute of it. The best part was Lianfang's reacction when she came to the realization that Lingyi never had any feelings for her. She was devastated. She wasted all that time trying to get him to fall in love with her only to realize that she didn't have a chance in hell. Seeing Lingyi and Shiyi working together gave me chills. They were awesome. I'm petty so if it was me I would've rubbed her crimes in the GM's face especially the dog incident....lol
Yes, his mother feel really stupid right about now. Always talking about unfair it was for her to become a concubine. Well it was all her own fault considering she kill a woman to try and get her man. That was just right dispicable. The GM just kept going on and on about her feelings as if no one else had any feelings...smh. It's because she blinded by Lianfang that Shiyi and Lingyi had to go to such lengthens to expose her. Look how miserable Lingyi was when Shiyi wasn't around. There is a reason they say love can never be selfish. This Lianfang is a real piece of work. She actually stood there and told Lingyi she loved him the most with a straight face. Ever since he got involved with her, she has caused him nothing but grief and pain. She murdered his wife, almost killed his son, nearly destroyed his family, and has done nothing but lie to his face. Is that really her concept of true love? Why does their supposed love always make these second lead characters into such monsters? No wonder the male lead wants no part of her so called love! Liangfang love is really quite scary!

I was counting down the minutes until they revealed the truth to her. She was in total disbelief. All those times she spent defending Lianfang/excusing her actions should've made her sick to her stomach. She refused to believe that Lianfang was evil/that she intentionally poisoned her grandson. Lingyi made sure that his mother had all the facts so that she didn't continue to protect her.
Absolutely love this drama. The casting director did a great job in all the main characters. Interesting plot, well-paced and just love the messages it conveys. In this chaotic world, we need some positive vibes desperately. Thank you for a good job!!
I felt really sorry for liangfan her fall from grace was epic and earth shattering. I'm happy she learnt her lesson but I'm sorry it had to be that way. She was obsessed with him though, that was not love that was pure crazy.
Well it didn't help that the GM and her maids enabled her/lied to her repeatedly about Lingyi's feelings for her. At one point they even encouraged her behavior. I can't even say she was misguided because she murdered Yuanniang way before she became a concubine. She just had a dark/blacken heart.
Lingyi/Shiyi both knew that she was evil. It was the GM that they had to convince. She wouldn't accept the truth/even defended her. She refused to see what was right in front of her face. She even told them that she would never believe anything bad about Lianfang because she watched her grow up/she knows her. Lingyi started investigating her after Shiyi's kidnapping/he continued to investigate her after what happened to his son. He wasn't fooled by Lianfang at all.

Marquis never ever did love Lianfang not even from the first had he ever once shown her any attachments of love, one of the most saddest piece anyone could implement in any movie it's always played by some venomous character displaying their desires to be loved as well what is likely to occur to anyone stealing their supposed thunder. Their antics do add a bit of flavour of interest to the show as you watch on to the end.
I agree. Every concubine in the harem would've met with an untimely death/the GM would've helped her cover it up. She convinced herself that she could change his mind. He was upfront with her from the very beginning. He told her that he can give her a comfortable life but nothing more. Those words went in one ear/out the other.

He stopped visiting his concubines long before he married Shiyi. When he witnessed them bartering for favors when they were supposed to be mourning the death of his late wife...he was officially done with them. The GM often tried to get him to visit his concubines especially Lianfang. Little Miss princess also made a reference to Lingyi not sleeping with her....after she realized that Lianfang tried to harm her unborn child just to get rid of Shiyi. Danyang didn't pull any punches after she witnessed Lianfang's dark heart. It's the scene where Zhun is running in to tell everyone that his dad made him a new sword because his mother told him too. He told them that his dad listens to him mother/he doesn't get mad at her when she tells him to do something. Danyang reminded Lianfang that she wasn't pregnant yet...because she knew that Lingyi hadn't touched her. Lianfang told the GM that he hardly ever visits her. She wanted the old lady to force him to spend time with her but Lingyi wasn't having any of it. He didn't want anything to do with her especially since he already suspected that she deliberately harmed his son.

That stupid trick till had the nerve blame Shiyi even when he didn't sleep with her within the first year of their marriage. How is Shiyi the blame for that? But the Marquis was all ready to sleep with Shiyi on their wedding night even he thought she was in cahoots with his late wife and set that trap for lianfang to make her a concubine or ruin her reputation. That Evil woman has so nerve to act like she would have made him fall in love with her if it wasn't for Shiyi. Her mind really was so far gone already that she skipped past The fact that he never wanted to sleep with her. She had 1 whole year to make that happen and she failed miserably.
But love is not selfish. But this was her episode, the first villain in this drama. Well done. Her expressions were very effective in making the viewers hate her.
Wow. I was about to write this series off when Shiyi got sent home, but glad I forced myself to finish the episode. Great acting and plot twist. The creep finally gets caught but man, she got a light sentence. I am sure this will cause troubles later because she is just too evil to quit that easily.
It was actually worse than death because death would take mere seconds or at most minutes depending on the kind granted. Being a Nun with hair meant she didn't have to shave her hair off but they lived in stables for all intents and purposes. There were minimal shutters to keep out snow, they slept on planks of wood with straw for bedding that were so low to the ground vermin would run all over the nuns at night for warmth. If you were lucky you caught TB or died of malnutrition as thin rice porridge, black bread (made using the entire wheat husk although it was actually dark brown and gritty not actually black) and water were all you got to eat bar a few vegetables once a week. The unlucky ones lived in that torture for years and years going insane to the point they hallucinated from mouldy grain used in their bread, unless they weren't crazy enough and ended it themselves sooner. These nunneries were never where the actually devout lived, their part of the property had the basic amenities like windows and doors that shut and cats that killed the rodents. They were better fed and overall healthier, being the ones to tend the gardens and kitchens etc. The disgraced women had zero occupation except to kneel, sit and pray. I'd rather have a botched head removal than that any time.
I agree. She was obsessed with Lingyi. If she loved him at all she would've gotten to know him/allowed him to be happy. She wouldn't have killed his wife/unborn child. She wouldn't have tried to harm Zhun/Shiyi. She was a fatal attraction without limits.

Lucky she’s only punished to being a nun and not killed to pay for Yuniang and her baby’s murder.

His actions showed a different story but they had her convinced that he loved her too. The GM encourage her to take the initiative. Lianfang was surrounded by people who refused to tell her the truth/it fed her delusions. They did more harm to her than she could ever do to herself. Remember when the nanny told her that Shiyi stole her position which is why Lingyi treated her coldly. It was after he chastised her for wearing the brocade fabric that was meant for Shiyi. It's what made her determined to become Lingyi's legal wife. She became convinced that Shiyi stole everything that belonged to her. I agree with you The GM/her nanny and her maid were to blame for her sinister behavior.
IKR!!!! She found out the hard way that her real nemesis was Lingyi!!! He was the one assembling the evidence every time Shiyi go through something crazy trying to solve a mystery or saving the Shu name.
And then 2 I think what's really messed up this app her stepmother that mother she wasn't even grateful like if it wasn't for this girl you would never find that this other woman killed your daughter and one of your grandchildren and tried killing the other if the other it's like no 1 factored that and you're still lis factored bad and nurse illegal while we're grateful you got this kind of person out of our lives
lol... yeah he was very convincing. He didn't his job well. Lianfang was deceived/Shiyi was vindicated. The only thing that kept me from losing it was knowing that everything they told him about Shiyi...he already knew so I knew without a doubt that it was all a ploy but his cold demeanor/attitude got me in the feels a few times...lol
I don't think it was about trust. It had more to do with the fact that she overheard him telling Zhaoying the reasoning behind him dropping the case. The Luo family didn't want to pursue the matter/he was honoring their wishes by closing the case. I don't think it ever occurred to her to seek his help after knowing why he chose to drop the case.

The first half was hilarious like watching a Soap opera on big screen. The second half was great too watching them get justice Madam Luo and her realization and Liangfang hopefully she learns
I agree it's one of the best dramas. The actors did such an amazing job bringing their characters to life. I loved the chemistry between Lingyi and Shiyi. It's one of the few shows that I can watch again and again.
don't quote me because my knowledge of these kinds of relationships in historical/ancient china is pretty small but i don't think you need a 'divorce agreement' to divorce a concubine. pretty sure they could just divorce them on the spot if they wanted to. giving her a divorce agreement or even writing one for her is essentially recognizing her status(before divorce) as someone on the level of the legal wife also, like shonte said, you can't marry a nun. so he essentially divorced AND banished her from the household. two birds with one stone kinda thing.
Poor Lianfang, she was got double of what she wanted Shiyi to have, she always flamed her but when it was her time to suffer , she suffered ten times Shiyi is wise indeed, I love the way she plays her cards

Concubine Lianfang is so obsessive...even if hottie Marquis had been interested by her, I think she would have killed everyone one by one because she is too possessive. This series is so well done! Remarkable 👏🥰
Marquis never ever did love Lianfang not even from the first had he ever once shown her any attachments of love, one of the most saddest piece anyone could implement in any movie it's always played by some venomous character displaying their desires to be loved as well what is likely to occur to anyone stealing their supposed thunder. Their antics do add a bit of flavour of interest to the show as you watch on to the end.
I agree. Every concubine in the harem would've met with an untimely death/the GM would've helped her cover it up. She convinced herself that she could change his mind. He was upfront with her from the very beginning. He told her that he can give her a comfortable life but nothing more. Those words went in one ear/out the other.

He stopped visiting his concubines long before he married Shiyi. When he witnessed them bartering for favors when they were supposed to be mourning the death of his late wife...he was officially done with them. The GM often tried to get him to visit his concubines especially Lianfang. Little Miss princess also made a reference to Lingyi not sleeping with her....after she realized that Lianfang tried to harm her unborn child just to get rid of Shiyi. Danyang didn't pull any punches after she witnessed Lianfang's dark heart. It's the scene where Zhun is running in to tell everyone that his dad made him a new sword because his mother told him too. He told them that his dad listens to him mother/he doesn't get mad at her when she tells him to do something. Danyang reminded Lianfang that she wasn't pregnant yet...because she knew that Lingyi hadn't touched her. Lianfang told the GM that he hardly ever visits her. She wanted the old lady to force him to spend time with her but Lingyi wasn't having any of it. He didn't want anything to do with her especially since he already suspected that she deliberately harmed his son.

That stupid trick till had the nerve blame Shiyi even when he didn't sleep with her within the first year of their marriage. How is Shiyi the blame for that? Wow. I was about to write this series off when Shiyi got sent home, but glad I forced myself to finish the episode. Great acting and plot twist. The creep finally gets caught but man, she got a light sentence. I am sure this will cause troubles later because she is just too evil to quit that easily.
It was actually worse than death because death would take mere seconds or at most minutes depending on the kind granted. Being a Nun with hair meant she didn't have to shave her hair off but they lived in stables for all intents and purposes. There were minimal shutters to keep out snow, they slept on planks of wood with straw for bedding that were so low to the ground vermin would run all over the nuns at night for warmth. If you were lucky you caught TB or died of malnutrition as thin rice porridge, black bread (made using the entire wheat husk although it was actually dark brown and gritty not actually black) and water were all you got to eat bar a few vegetables once a week. The unlucky ones lived in that torture for years and years going insane to the point they hallucinated from mouldy grain used in their bread, unless they weren't crazy enough and ended it themselves sooner.
These nunneries were never where the actually devout lived, their part of the property had the basic amenities like windows and doors that shut and cats that killed the rodents. They were better fed and overall healthier, being the ones to tend the gardens and kitchens etc. The disgraced women had zero occupation except to kneel, sit and pray.
I'd rather have a botched head removal than that any time.

What’s even more sadder is that because of her schemes and tricks she has unknowingly pushed Lingyi towards Shiyi. From what I deduced, Lingyis love for his legal wife started when he saw Shiyis sincerity and love for his son! Poor Lianfang she got her just desserts. Lucky she’s only punished to being a nun and not killed to pay for Yuniang and her baby’s murder.
I'm with you that note. To me she should have went to prison or been beheaded in their time. She not only killed his wife but there unborn child all because she wanted to be this man wife and have children for him. She also wanted to kill his first born with the dog. She was out cold with that mess. Then when she got caught. She had the nerve to say his first wife wasn't nice. Then she complained about shiyi and his first wife. That theyset her up how could she be come a concubine. Well that because his first wife knew that she was poison by the that bitch and refused to let her become the legal wife.

Yuanniang wanted to protect her son from Lianfang but it was Lianfang's choice to become a concubine. He told her to marry someone else/become a legal wife. She's the one that chose to become a concubine to a man that didn't love her or having any feelings for her at all.

After her so called fainting/Lingyi visited her it was the nanny lied to her and told her that he really loves her. His actions showed a different story but they had her convinced that he loved her too. The GM encourage her to take the initiative. Lianfang was surrounded by people who refused to tell her the truth/it fed her delusions. They did more harm to her than she could ever do to herself. Remember when the nanny told her that Shiyi stole her position which is why Lingyi treated her coldly. It was after he chastised her for wearing the brocade fabric that was meant for Shiyi. It's what made her determined to become Lingyi's legal wife. She became convinced that Shiyi stole everything that belonged to her. I agree with you The GM/her nanny and her maid were to blame for her sinister behavior.

The Luo family didn't want to pursue the matter/he was honoring their wishes by closing the case. I don't think it ever occurred to her to seek his help after knowing why he chose to drop the case.

i don't think you need a 'divorce agreement' to divorce a concubine. pretty sure they could just divorce them on the spot if they wanted to. giving her a divorce agreement or even writing one for her is essentially recognizing her status(before divorce) as someone on the level of the legal wife
also, like shonte said, you can't marry a nun. so he essentially divorced AND banished her from the household. two birds with one stone kinda thing.
