Hi. I would like to thank you for making this interpretation of this song. Me and my wife actually used this for our sons funeral. Our son was stillborn on april 16th 2019. In the hospital the line "father, I die alone" jumped into my head and I had to listen to this song. I have associated this song with my son ever since. So naturally I wanted it to be played at his funeral. Although melodic death-metal is not very fit for a chapel, or at least some people would say. So we found this version and felt it was just pefect and very well done. We cut it from 3,05 and played it as his final song as we exited the chapel. I'm imagining him going through a journey, like the viking he was meant to become, longing home to us but as he was getting close "the storm came down" and he didn't make it home. Me an my wife do return to this youtube video now and again to remember him.
People who don't usually listen to metal sometimes have hard time understanding what they're hearing - they're not used to listening to metal This version great for those people. I think it captures the original version perfectly
This song heard in a symphonic version raises goosebumps no differently than the original. People who really appreciate music for what it's worth will understand. I asked Johann Hegg personally what he thought of people taking this song and rendering it in a different style. He said it was amazing what people can do, and that he was thrilled his bands music was the focal point of being made to any extent other than metal.
This greatest of all Amon Amarth songs deserves to be played by you...and you definitely deserve to play this!!! SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL that this almost kills me...
This is one of the most incredible things i've ever heard. A totally different sound and take on this piece of music and yet it's JUST as awesome to listen to.
Great Scott sir! This is fantastic! THANK YOU! As mentioned by others, this song is beautiful, and brings the chills. Thank you for your hard work. Please continue your symphonic covers! They are excellent sir, and help a wounded soul.
@HX4000PL well in the software every note is a "dot" with 2 properties: pitch and duration. So it does not involve what classically is called "sheet music". And it is possible to assign any instrument and any amount of instruments to a track. It is possible to create new tracks and edit them, basically lets your creativity flow. I usually have 20-30 instrumental sections (e.g. violins)for every cover, each with it´s own midi track. If you however need sheet music of this score I can get you that
man.... you just made me cry........ you sure did an awesome piece of art here, would you try this with "Runes to my memories" ?? i'd really appreciate.
@OriginalMozumbo oh you can purchase it online or at your local music store, for both mac and pc! I would recommend east west over miroslav, I have read reviews and it seems that it is overall the best orchestra plugin available.
@DaG8keepa30 Actually if anyone did their home work. They would know that depending on where the metal comes from typically it's based upon it's geographic location. American Death Metal comes from Jazz Scandinavian folk music if it comes from scandinavia; Prime example are Black Metal and Viking Metal. And most decent melodic metal is based on various classical usually from the baroque period. So yeah it's VERY much music. Usually way more music than most pop shit out there today.
@HX4000PL all that my software does is that it allows me to assign an orchestral instrument to a midi track (i.e. notes). That is, if I have notes (and thus a midi track) for the lead guitar I can make it into an oboe or 18 violins staccato. I can also add more than 1 instrument to a single midi track and I can also change the notes and octaves on the midi tracks. Hope this answered your questions. Also, all the best luck to you if you play it live, and record it on video and send me a link!
Really? I'd think it would fit perfectly. It makes me think of some far off fantasy land, kind of like in peter pan. I could totally imagine some ship sailing through there.
@DaG8keepa30 That is an arrogant assumption in itself, I frown upon people who let that phrase slip off their tongues. For one, the saying "same song, different artist" does not apply to metal, unlike many other contemporary genres that those individuals are very likely to prefer.
Holy fuck..well i'm addicted and just spammed the fuck out of my facebook with your videos!! Keep the amazing work up!!! Try out some korpiklaani or immortal!!
@20TheGame09 People are lazy. They don't want meaning, story, actual talent or work anymore. They just want catchiness, and simpleness with little to no emotion because it's too difficult to handle emotions or understand/ follow story or emotions.
Seriously don't understand why people are addicted to rap and hip hop. I mean there is no meaning to it other than making money and killing people. How's about something that talks about a proud and powerful race of human beings. All hail Odin and the great halls of Valhalla.

Amon Amarth are some of the finest composers today. This symphonic version is simply wonderful.
This greatest of all Amon Amarth songs deserves to be played by you...and you definitely deserve to play this!!! SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL that this almost kills me...
+Sabbathman1979 Amen. Amon!
I love when people try to say Metal is not music. this is prime example that is just as much music as anything else. \m/
moreso. only Classical & Metal are pure in Musicianship.
This is one of the most incredible things i've ever heard. A totally different sound and take on this piece of music and yet it's JUST as awesome to listen to.

This rendition was so soothing it almost made me fall asleep...very nicely done.
I love this version.
One of my Favorite Amon Amarth songs
Warriors of the North would be INCREDIBLE
Reminds me of the good old strategy games. Empire Earth in particular.

Warriors of the north and/or under siege would be awesome!
Absolutely wonderful! Unlike Wintersun, it's definitely more "adventurous" sounding. I'd love to see a big group performing music like this.
Excelente cover.

My hopeful dreams lie ripped and torn
Father, I die alone

This is just amazing!!! Awesome work... Amon Amarth would be proud haha.
I'd kill to hear a live concert over this, like they did with Doom Over Dead Man.

@ACardFan I tried to make a shipwreck with burning wood and smoke in this picture, but in the end it looked like it didn't really belong in there
i want this at my funeral!!!!
PS. You did a great job with the picture. It'd be neat to add a boat really far away in the background. I wonder how that'd change the meaning in it?
oh my god this is amazing. should have over a million views.
@Obelix5150 look forward to that version when youre finished!
So awesome I love this

Ils sont immortel!

Would you mind if I were to take this to create a symphonic metal version of the original song?

Ah, ok. I don't think I could draw a ship that would fit in there either.

@Tillsilence I wonder how much they cost?
