The rocks and gravel filter out large sediments. The soil and sand filters out fine impurities, organisms and particles and the cotton layer acts as the final barrier.
@@Skylight_Designs Thx for this but i want to try something if you add newspaper and tissue what would be the effect? Also if i added sponge only in the middle?
This is easiest water purifying projet in the whole youtube ,i tried this and it worked it took a few seconds to change the dirty water into clean water(looked clean)
And i Love the fact that you show the Ruler to give Us an Accurate measurement of how thick we should make each section! That is definitely helpful. Thank You! Now if I just figure out about the Activated charcoal powder, getting it from Wally World's Pet section namely the Aquarium side. And why does the Male Species Almost All wait til the Very last minute to inform you of there Upcoming Science Project!!?? 🙄🙄
Hi I have to do my science project however I need the science behind this like h9w everything works into details j need alot of notes and stuff. Is there anything u can do to help?
Ok........Yes I am Definitely Late to the Party! But I swear I'm about Crossed Eyed from reading so Many different DIY suggestions and Watching The Video's!! And im just trying to find out one thing......see my Sources are limited in My Rural area and of course My Son has waited to last minute to tell me about his Wonderful Science Project!! And the $64,000 Dollar Question IS.......can i use the Activated charcoal powder from Walmart's Pet section? As in the Aquarium part?
I don't think the soil is a good option for the filter. I agree with the cotton balls, sand and gravel. Activated charcoal would be a better substitute for the soil. Most other filters that I've watched make their dirty water with the soil, not use it in the filter.
Soil is not a proper filter. You ve taken raw soil and applied at bottom where the filtered water reached for final stage. It'll get contaminated again. If you'd use it at starting face ( top or second ) it would make sense. Use charcoals is the correct way.
Question: Would a coffee filter work because charcoal is very limited in the areas i live in. Like maybe it would be the final step where the water falls into it.
Could you explain how it works though?
The rocks and gravel filter out large sediments.
The soil and sand filters out fine impurities, organisms and particles
and the cotton layer acts as the final barrier.
@@Skylight_Designs Thx for this but i want to try something if you add newspaper and tissue what would be the effect? Also if i added sponge only in the middle?
@@mangoe19t95 No, you can't use sponge ,tissue or newspaper! Only the cotton can be replaced by a coffee filter.

Soil contains important biota that helps transform and decompose certain chemicals and other contaminants. You can leave it out if you want.
