I am the inventor of the combinated articulated/pivot steered off/set steering system, I have made a drawing in 1994 and handed it over to VanderSpek in Holland , I have allowed to copy it and send the drawing to Dynapac without asking me. On my drawing the pivot steering was placed on the front part over the roller, Dynapac made a different design and put the pivot on the backside of the roller. Now they have discovered the benefits of the pivot on the front part of the roller. As can be seen on the video it is a versatile system to become a crab steering position and additional extra short turning radius, I don't like the ergonomic part of the roller, it is a very monotone position and therefore very unhealthy. The operator is locked up between armrest and the small steering disc is not nice. A larger steering wheel in front of the operator gives the operator support to the upper body and gives a more natural feeling while steering the roller. In this roller the operator is almost deactivated considering body movement, as you know the blood circulation is very dependable on body movement. So the system may look very sophisticated it is not very ergonomic.
