I keep coming back to this, the whole album is fucking great but this song just makes me feel good. Just when i think music is slowly dying some people show up and put the paddles to the heart of rock and roll.
As a very old musician who once spent a whole lot of time traveling from town to town in a van with a bunch of guys. This song hits. Live it up boys, you'll never regret the time you're "wasting" right now.
Got some free advice the other day From an older relative of mine He said, I dig what you do But I think you're wasting your time Yes I do 'Cause driving around Getting drunk with your friends in a van every night Sounds like a lotta fun, but you need a plan B 'Cause it ain't gonna last long past twenty one You'll never make enough money And no one cares about the things you say You're gonna wake up someday And you'll wish you got a job Spend half your life in that Chevrolet Driving up and down the freeway Someday when you're too old to play Yeah, you'll wish you got a job I bummed a cigarette from a guy in Manhattan last week I told him politely, thank you Then with this hollowed out look, he turned to me and said You know for twenty five years I've been a banker In all my many years of life I suddenly feel obliged to impart to you one free piece of advice You must invest in your future I said thanks for the cigarette but I think I know the rest Or you'll never make enough money And no one cares about the things you say You're gonna wake up someday And you'll wish you got a job Spend half your life in that Chevrolet Driving up and down the freeway Someday when you're too old to play Yeah, you'll wish you got a job You'll never make enough money And no one cares about the things you say You're gonna wake up someday And you'll wish you got a job Spend half your life in that Chevrolet Driving up and down the freeway Someday when you're too old to play Yeah, you'll wish you got a job You'll never make enough money And no one cares about the things you say You're gonna wake up someday And you'll wish you got a job.
Ride that freeway as long as you like, you can ALWAYS get a job. No one ever has enough money, and no one ever looks back on their 70 or 80 or 90 or lucky 100 years of life and wishes they'd worked more. Spend your time doing things you love with the people you love. Live a rich life. "Some people are so poor, all they have is money"
I just think it's amazing that almost all of the comments are about Arctic Monkeys and Al, I remember the days when they just started out. I was about thirteen in 2003 when I first saw them live, now they're so big that their supporting acts and people they mention in interviews are blowing up! Where has the time gone... Hopefully The Nude Party do as well as AM have, their music is brill and they seem like decent guys. It's not beyond possible that I'll be thinking similar things about them having gotten massive seemingly not long after I'd discovered them. Best of luck to you, lads x
This is one of my greatest treasured discoveries!!! New music is so bad and i am so old. In fact, i only found this because i was looking for a late 70s movie about custom vans for some one online. Danny devito is in it. It's worth it to see the era. Anyway, this is a true gem!
This song has grown on me over the last few months. I’ve heard it in my head all the time that means it’s a good song. I still think in 20 or 30 years this song will still be as relevant as it is now it’ll probably be in a movie and we’ll say who is the nude party where they a big band? And then someone else say no I never heard of them. But I will have so I’ll say - “in all my years of life… i feel obliged to impart some free advice to you… you’ll never make enough money…”
@cookie monster VUNDABAR put on a killer show. They're fantastic. They put everything into their music especially their live shows. I still have bruises from the mosh pits. Incredible band.
This song makes me laugh. First time I heard it I was on a test drive, selling cars. "Nobody cares about the things you say, spending half your life in a Chevrolet, driving up and down the freeway" really resonated with me at the time (and helped encourage me to change jobs). Great song
@@SteveMorris-zb1ug I heard your brother's song "She Has A Car" and I thought about two songs by a band from Athens, Georgia called Meth Wax. The songs "Gravity Bong" and "Suzy Crabgrass" came to mind when I heard the guitars
@@Mr.MT3 I'm up near the 12603 .....I'm gonna have to get up on a hill and see if I can tune in. 75 miles from NYC, we used to be able to climb up this local mountain and see the twin towers from here ☹️

love how their dads actually copy their moves
The older version of the keyboard player is my dentist! They are great people.

This band is awesome!!!
Never heard of them until today..
Same here! just missed their show last night in Austin! OMG, they are awesome!
@@carolinedzteixeira they are!!! I would love to see them in AUSTIN!!!!
My new favorite song! I love it!
Heard it for the first time on radio the other day and was thinking it has a very early 70's sound.
That's what I thought when I first heard this song.
Same!
I've always loved that style of music. However contemporary the band may be, at least the music is old-school. :)
Same!!
This song makes me laugh so hard because we've all heard such advice from older people, regarding music or not
Still like that old time rock n roll
Alex turner said this was one of his favourite songs
Felix Kellow YES
from this band not overall
Lots of the same inspiration that fueled Arctic Monkeys.
Got some free advice the other day
From an older relative of mine
He said, I dig what you do
But I think you're wasting your time
Yes I do
'Cause driving around
Getting drunk with your friends in a van every night
Sounds like a lotta fun, but you need a plan B
'Cause it ain't gonna last long past twenty one
You'll never make enough money
And no one cares about the things you say
You're gonna wake up someday
And you'll wish you got a job
Spend half your life in that Chevrolet
Driving up and down the freeway
Someday when you're too old to play
Yeah, you'll wish you got a job
I bummed a cigarette from a guy in Manhattan last week
I told him politely, thank you
Then with this hollowed out look, he turned to me and said
You know for twenty five years I've been a banker
In all my many years of life
I suddenly feel obliged to impart to you one free piece of advice
You must invest in your future
I said thanks for the cigarette but I think I know the rest
Or you'll never make enough money
And no one cares about the things you say
You're gonna wake up someday
And you'll wish you got a job
Spend half your life in that Chevrolet
Driving up and down the freeway
Someday when you're too old to play
Yeah, you'll wish you got a job
You'll never make enough money
And no one cares about the things you say
You're gonna wake up someday
And you'll wish you got a job
Spend half your life in that Chevrolet
Driving up and down the freeway
Someday when you're too old to play
Yeah, you'll wish you got a job
You'll never make enough money
And no one cares about the things you say
You're gonna wake up someday
And you'll wish you got a job.

It’s “man” not “and” in the chorus.

I saw this band in an Arctic Monkeys concert in Raleigh NC, that was great 🤟🏾🖖🏾
I heard this in a food mall in Kyoto, Japan and used Google to tell me the song name. Good stuff!
This was a gift that kept on giving =]
5 years already?!
I don't remember them coming to film this video at my office, but they clearly did.
This was so fucking good live
Like a classic Bob Dylan song arranged by Jeff Lynne, Bravo!
No it sounds like Don Mclean!
You miswrote The Rolling Stones doing country music
You miswrote The Rolling Stones doing Graham Parsons :)
You miswrote the Kinks doing the Allman Brothers
I was so confused. The verses sound exactly like 1964-65 Dylan going early electric
See ya at bonnaroo!
