Bree might have been the first character that really made me think about how I can love a character without necessarily agreeing with their actions or ways of thinking. She is the true icon of Desperate Housewives and those few episodes she was absent due to Marcia Cross' pregnancy, are among the weakest of the show.
Well... She covered for her son when he hit missis Solis with a car, but pressured Orson to go to jail for his crime. And all she said was bUt He Is My SoN. I love Bree, but it was pretty hipocritical. I actually, supported Orson when he decided to leave Bree over that. Cos he right, she does hold this high moral standarts for everyone around her, except... family and friends :D
@@Joe_ParmesanI think ppl feel more anger towards a shitty dude when the show wants us to root for him. We were meant to hate Alejandro, but expected to overlook all of Tom’s bad behaviour.
Well, it's not like Lynette was the best wife... She also had her flaws, and big red flags. But I get where it comes from... Tom wasn't a good husband, and overall, not a great person, like most of the Scavo family 😂 (except for the children. They were cool)
The only negative thing they did with Bree was ruining her relationship with Orson, I know the writers wanted drama but Orson eventually torturing her didn't make sense.
They made a few mistakes with her. Having her put her bridesmaids in garish dresses was out of character. Rex saying she only just became a control freak when she was taught to be from her childhood. I can't think of other examples though.
I thought "what? Tom is the least drama seeking and usually positive dad vibes" then I remembered how he always got Lynette pregnant even tho she didn't want more kids. Is there something I'm missing?
@@Ouranos369 like u said always got her pregnant but more problematic things he has done: -cheated on Lynette with her best friend while they were engaged and kept it from her for 20 years -multiple times pressures her into sex -sacrifices all their savings for pizzeria which eventually crashes -not telling Lynette abt Kayla for several years and visiting her secretly -starts dating Jane while still being married to Lynette -makes his kids work at his restaurant because he couldn’t afford staff -being a constant gaslighter to Lynette -wasn’t attracted to Lynette and turned down during sex because she was bald from chemo -his constant immature decisions that made Lynette into control freak And many more, but in general many ppl hate him because he is a man child who is incapable of emotional support. She mostly did the heavy lifting in her family and deserved 100 times better husband. Also forgot to add that unlike other characters , he is a fake nice guy, his flaws and stupid decisions most of the times get ignored and he never really develops into a supporting loving husband.
@@fderfegtgtrrt949 wow that really says it all. So much happens in that show I forgot his story line. I remember the pizzeria was it all the savings? And yeah I remember Kayla. Wow the chemo thing was the worst. Yeah he sucked that is the perfect example of a fake nice guy who's actually emotionally checked out you're right!
I love that even the show runners knew she was gold. In season 1 it's very clear that Susan was meant to be the main one. Terry Hatcher had been on the Superman series and was the most well known. And Susan is the one most involved in the Mary Alice mystery. But in season 2 Bree comes out as the lead and pretty much stays there for the rest of the show. Probably helped by the fact that Susan is the least popular of the main women.
THANK YOU FOR THIS OMG!! I would LOVE to see some sort of analysis of Gaby’s experience going through being 100% childfree (with the mindset included) and losing a child (or the promise of a child) multiple times before becoming the character that the others would look to as a “bad” mom. I also think it’s worth noting that in season 1, Lynette was portrayed as the unhappy/resentful mother in early seasons but later grew out of the role.
I have no attention span at all, and yet I was always able to enjoy this show with no lapses in attention--and years later, I was able to enjoy your video about Bree (not even my favorite character) with the same focus! Something about the show is captivating for me--and so is your video! Thank you!
Bree was my favorite from the beginning, literally one of the best characters of tv ever, my favs are of course, Bree and Gabby i guess that´s everyone´s favorites
Bree V is one of the best written characters on tv. I always called her the black spider because all her men ended up dead or gone lol her transformation over the course of the series, her unique humor, her testament to being strong in the face of adversity make this character for the ages unforgettable. Marcia Cross is gold 💛 her failed attempt at suicide in the final season breaks my heart everytime.
I LOVED THIS video within the first 2 minutes!! Bree was such an iconic character. The last three seasons of the series really showed us a side of Bree that we’ve never seen before and it really made us appreciate the quality of her character development so well. Let me tell you her clothes really brought out her overall personality and the hair too. 😍
Marcia Cross went from playing Kimberly on Melrose Place to eventually play Bree Van de Kamp, the most kick arse and human housewife to ever grace TV. She went through so bloody much and all she wanted was to hear the words "Thank You." She was tough with her ungrateful children but she also loved them. She was controling but she had her reasons. She was incredibly flawed but she also had many virtues. She stood by her friends, although they didn't deserve her (check season 8.) Marcia Cross should have won the Emmy for the first and second seasons of the show. Long live, Marcia Cross!
Yesterday I found our the show turned 20, I simply looked up "Desperate Housewives" and this was among the top videos. It was such a delight to find as Bree is my favorite housewife! I never thought I'd root for such a character but as stated in this video everyone likes an underdog. Fantastic video btw!
Bree still definitely my favorite ever with Gaby from this show..!!🎀✨ Her character’s evolution through these season is stunningly unbelievable ..!!🤍✨ Marcia Cross did a great job and I wonder if she won any Emmy for her amazing work ?!🥰🙏🏽✨✨✨✨
Thanks for this video. Bree deserves to be talked about. She's the best. I personally wanted her to end up with Carl, to me that was such an entertaining relationship.
I'm here to tell You to please do more videos about this show!!! And also I love the damn irony of the last season, where Bree helps the Solis's with the same fierceness and cold thinking she uses to help Andrew to damage the very same Solis family, but it just shows how deeply she cares about her loved ones. That is character development at its finest. And also I'm still angry at the others for being so spinless and abandoning Bree in that last season, she trult was the mvp.

Yes! I'd definitely watch more deep dives on this show. A channel with Bo Jack Horseman videos & Desperate Housewives takes! What is this, a crossover episode?
An episode about Mary Alice Young would be interesting. Except for a handful of episodes, she is the narrator of the show, the pilot episode starts with her suicide, and her ghostly presence is felt in literally every episode of every season
Do you plan on doing any deep character dives on “Once Upon a Time” characters such as the iconic Rumplestilskin, Hook, or Regina, The Evil Queen? The two are the most iconic characters in the OUAT series.
Unfortunately, I haven't watched any of Once Upon a Time, so I can't really have an informed opinion on it (plus, it'll take me a while to get through it- long show lol)
I love her for all the reasons mentioned but she treats her children horribly. I get that Andrew and Danielle are horrible for so many reasons. But they are her kids and she is always snide with them. Mostly Danielle in later seasons.

Exactly!
Bree was always incredible. It's so great to see a lot of Desperate Housewives content on RUclips lately, I'm glad it's having a renaissance.
As of yesterday the show is 20 years old 🎉
What I love about Bree is she's not a hypocrite, she may be harsh, but she holds herself to high standards too and can take accountability.

She is extremely hypocritical lmao😭
the scene where Bree talks to the therapist about Freud really shifted something in me when I first watched it, the writing for her character is great
Reasons why Tom Scavo’s the true villain of Desperate Housewives.
Not going to take up for him, but there was so much worse than Tom Scavo in the show, starting with Alejandro

The only negative thing they did with Bree was ruining her relationship with Orson, I know the writers wanted drama but Orson eventually torturing her didn't make sense.
I heard the actor for Orson said he'd only come back if he were to play a villain so I guess that's that.
