  • Poverty. Violence. Racism. Abandoned housing. Safety. Green space. Clean air and water. These are social determinants of mental health-all shaped by public policy. Change them, and you change public health and the health of communities. The Adler School of Professional Psychology's Institute on Social Exclusion (ISE) works to spread this understanding.
The ISE leads new thinking on the social determinants of mental health, and has pioneered new practice such as the Mental Health Impact Assessment (MHIA) to help communities and policymakers improve community well-being. Learn more at adler.edu.
