Thanks for the video. 7 acres just about what I mow.
Thank you for posting this video. I watched a bunch of RUclips videos before I purchased my 2023 Bad Boy MZ Magnum and one of the videos was yours describing the melted plastic coating on your throttle cable. Sure enough, I've got a grand total of four hours on my brand new machine and the same thing is starting to happen. The plastic coating is starting to melt and sag. I have some silicone fusion tape on hand that's supposed to resist temps up to 500 degrees F. I'm going to wrap six inches or so of both cable housings in a relatively thick layer of the silicone tape and see if it provides an adequate heat barrier. I'm amazed the factory is still installing the cables so close to the exhaust manifolds without protection from the heat. I purchased the silicone fusion tape on Amazon if you're interested. I'll keep you posted if it helps. Thanks again!!!
The pink is a Teflon liner, the cable will still get hot, and the inner liner will eventually melt, maybe faster without the outer black shielding.
That's possible time will tell got to try something different there isn't really much room for improvement back there. So far it's been holding up.
Teflon is a high temp polymer...it should withstand the temperatures.
Well, thanks for the Vid. But when I think major failure I envision engine blow up or something along that line. These are design flaws that you point out, and I appreciate you doing that. For the cable problem, on my newly purchased 2023 Mag, I took a piece of old fuel line, split it down the middle and wrapped it around the cable. Seems there has been attention to that problem because there is a space that keeps the line away from the heat source. Not a big space, which is why I added the protection. The wire problem shorting out in another vid, is another thing I will address this week. Good to know, thank you.
I just bought a ZT Elite after looking at the Magnum. In mine the cables are routed away from the cylinder so I think they have implemented a fix. Also the battery is held in place by a rubber strap not twist off tie-downs. So it looks like they are fixing these issues.
Great job on the cable replacement. It is not right getting these problems on a newish machine. We have found that a claw hammer is great for removing those control knobs
nice thx, my cable has lasted 11 years on my 2012 zt.
I woul look for an alternate way to routhe cable. Looks like there is already a bracket above the cylinder head that might work.
It still looks to close to the muffler the inside plastic may still melt down .
Time will tell I'll do a update after I put some more hours on it
Well I’ll be taking a razor blade to my cable thank you
Yeah I do recommend doing that I haven't had any issues with my new cable being like that
Well geez! How else they going to make more money from ya. Most people wont fix their own stuff so they bring it back to dealer to get fixed.
This was painful to watch.
Bad boy has lots of problems not just cables
Like what
@@kevindriscoll3815 mine has poor cut quality hard steering arms and the seat sucks other than that it's ok I guess.
Had no issue with my bad boy 12 years old
