    Had a novus ordo wedding mass three months ago. Since then I found out about the Latin Rite and wish I had a wedding resembling this! I have been catholic since a young age and was never taught about the Latin Rite. Sad the previous generation has covered it up like it never happened

    I am a cradle Catholic who came to a devotional weekend and was exposed to the Latin rite for the first time in June and it lit my heart up. I changed parishes and this has taken my faith to a new depth. I am planning my wedding and wondered if they can do a High Mass and it looks like they can. I would so love this.

      How wonderful! Some form of high Mass is certainly possible for a wedding, even if it can't be a Solemn High Mass with priest, deacon, and subdeacon like this. Even with just one priest, you can have a beautiful Missa Cantata. Prayers for you as you plan your wedding!

    Laudetur Iesus Christus! Thank you for sharing this very beautiful traditional nuptial mass. I converted to Catholicism having been a cradle protestant. When the heresies of Vatican II hit the parish/Cathedral parish, I belonged to hard, I almost lost my faith over this. Thank our most Holy, Almighty Lord Jesus Christ and the most Blessed Holy Virgin Mary keeping me worthy by leading me to the SSPX and to Traditional Catholicism. I feel most Blessed since and never experienced the Lord Jesus Christ ever this intently before. I thank all good priests and bishops to faithfully defend our faith against the heresies of Rome. As our Lady of LaSalette told us a long time ago, the church would lose faith and Rome will be the seat of the Antichrist. This is what we see today under this pope. I again thank all Godly, good Bishops and priests to defend our true Catholic faith.
    Thank you for sharing this very Holy Blessed Nuptial Mass. May your marriage be blessed always, may you always remain true to our most Holy Church.

      Thank you for your kind wishes, and we undoubtedly share your concern and frustration about much of what is going on in our Church today. However, it should be clarified that this was a Mass in an archdiocesan cathedral, celebrated by a priest of the FSSP and two archdiocesan priests as deacon and subdeacon, and a diocesan seminarian (now priest) among the servers, all of whom are in full communion with Rome.

    Hey Michael and Lauren, congratulations on your Sacrament of the Holy Matrimony. This is so beautiful. I just talked to my girlfriend this morning about potentially having our wedding in TLM Rite with High Mass. She likes the proposition. I'm concerned that most of my priest friends are diocesan priests and I'm not sure how they will fit in if they should attend my wedding. Also, the Basilica where I intend to get married at is designed for Novus Ordo. Is it possible to celebrate TLM at such place?

    • @michaeltamara221
      @michaeltamara221 3 года назад +4

      First of all, Nzubechi, thank you very much, and congratulations to you and your fiancée, and prayers for your courtship and engagement! Where are you located? Do you attend a TLM regularly? Do your priest friends know how to celebrate the TLM?
      For a Solemn High Mass like this, you need three of them in order to fulfill the roles of priest, deacon, and subdeacon. Our celebrant here (and the one who prepared us for marriage) is an FSSP priest, but our deacon and subdeacon are both diocesan priests. Even if you only have one priest able to celebrate the TLM, you can have a simpler but still beautiful Missa Cantata (sung Mass) or a modified High Mass without deacon and subdeacon.
      Granted, ours was over two years ago, and I'm not sure how the unfortunate new motu proprio might affect things now.

      I'm an organist who has been playing for Catholic nuptials since 1962. I was 13 when I played my first wedding. The cost: fees for the organist, instrumentalists, soloist/choir members. The priest cannot ask for a stipend, but it's traditional to offer him some stipend. The Tridentine Mass for Catholic weddings are RARE!! Good luck in finding a priest who even knows the Latin Mass. Up until 1966 (Vatican-II Renewal) every wedding Mass was similar to this one. I used to play - sometimes- up to three wedding Masses per Saturday: 9:00am, 11:00am, 1pm. Now, who gets married anymore in a church? Some do, but most weddings are secular. Sad.

      Thank you for your comment. First, I would encourage you to listen to the sermon in this video starting at minute 47:00, because it will go a long way in explaining. Then, prayerfully consider the following three thoughts:
      Consider: The crucifix is the ultimate symbol of divine power, wisdom, and victory - the triumph of life over death. The reason why we depict the crucifix instead of a bare cross or another symbol in its place is because it is only by the Cross that humanity is redeemed. To worldly thinking, this sounds insane, and the Cross would instead seem like a symbol of the worst kind of failure. But, as St. Paul says in I Corinthians: "For the word of the cross, to them indeed that perish, is foolishness; but to them that are saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God...we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews indeed a stumbling block, and unto the Gentiles foolishness: But unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God."
      Consider: The Crucifixion is not merely a historical event that happened in a specific place at a specific point in time. It is that, but infinitely more: it is the one Holy Sacrifice on Calvary that is rendered present again (not repeated, but re-presented) at each Holy Mass. Jesus teaches very clearly in John 6: "I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world...For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that eateth me, the same shall live by me." Therefore, the Eucharist is not merely a symbol of Christ, but His very self under the appearance of bread and wine, and the only way His followers throughout the centuries can partake of His true Flesh and true Blood is by being drawn out of time, as it were, and into the eternal foot of the Cross. If that weren't true, it would be impossible to fulfill this command of Our Lord, so it must be true, because He can neither deceive nor be deceived.
      Consider: The Cross applies to all of us. There can be no Easter Sunday without there first being a Good Friday, as the saying goes. In order to sit in glory at the right hand of the Father, Jesus, the perfect Lamb of God, first needed to consummate the perfect sacrifice as both priest and victim on the Cross for our salvation. Depicting Him on the Cross both reminds us of our redemption (His end of the covenant fulfilled) - and also reminds us of our own personal responsibility to that redemption (our end of the covenant yet to be fulfilled until we see Him face to face); that is, that sacrifice and union with the Cross will be required of each of us in order dwell with God in eternity. As Jesus says in Luke 9:23, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." Humanity is already redeemed by Christ's actions, but each of us is only individually saved by responding to that redemption daily.
      I hope this helps your understanding of why Catholics don't - and can't - separate Jesus from His Cross. I'd be happy to chat with you further about it if you're at all interested. God bless.

      @@NANAOF252, it's your prerogative to "stand by what you said period", but that doesn't make it any less objectively incorrect than it would be if you were open to respectfully defending it like an adult. If you're not looking to engage in a discussion, why did you feel the need to go out of your way to make a critical comment on a stranger's RUclips channel about her wedding video and the faith it depicts?
