I was born in 1945. During my whole life time Albino Luciani has been the only pope I have considered to be a genuinely sincere and pious man. I am not Catholic but I recall feeling sadness when it came over the radio that he had passed, and so soon after his election. Not corrupt with finances. Not a homo. Not someone who even wanted the job (read David Yallop's book). A genuinely pious and honest person. I wish he had more time, but they did not want him to start his reforms around priestly marriage and vatican finances. Rest in peace J P the First. My favorite pope. ➕
I remember this very well. No autopsy was performed. Therefore, Pope John Paul's death will remain a mystery. I really loved him cuz he was smiling all the time. RIP Your Holiness.
As cardinal Johannes Willebrands said about his death "It's a disaster". Willebrands was one of two cardinals who offered Luciani words of encouragement during the conclave. He said "Courage. If the Lord gives you a burden He will also help you carry it." Cardinal Antonio Ribeiro of Portugal who was sitting on Luciani's other side added "The whole world prays for the new pope."
Laughter or the smiling days were over already .. no joyful time... He was Glad to be out of the 3 who world be enthroned after John XXIII ... If at least we had had Siri, then the Polish and finally the German... The whole world would smile more in a sound way... The insane love Franciscvs!
Imho, for many Catholics one of the saddest days. Now 45 years on the fact that no post mortem was performed means that there just too many unanswered questions..
I was present at his last General Audience the day before +. The theme was Charity, and the different ways in which it can be interpreted. He said one way was visiting the sick and said he himself had received much charity as a hospital patient for lung surgery. He either had part of a lung or one whole lobe removed. He was not a fit man, and I remember wondering why such an unfit man would be chosen for such an onerous task. I don’t think he was murdered at all. I also went to his funeral. + We should listen to pope Luciani’s brother. +
Luciani wanted to revert the direction of the Church he wanted to bring it in line with the aspirations of Jesus Christ and with that he stood in the way of the Mafia and Italian Freemasonry. Licio Gelli the grand master at the time of the powerful Propaganda Due lodge likely sent someone into the papal apartments to tamper with Luciani's medicine by means of the digitalis drug. Secretary of State Villot who was bitterly opposed to Luciani's liberal position on artificial birth control would've made it easy for whoever wanted to poison Luciani. Statements like "he had only one lung" or "heavy smoking" on his part and so forth that was the Vatican - and especially Villot - trying hard to cover up (and unfortunately it succeeded). If the death had been so natural then the Vatican would've had an autopsy performed in the ordinary way with no problems as it did when Paul VI died. Villot was the one who had a problem with "heavy smoking" he smoked up to two packs a day and he was already sick during Luciani's time as pope. The doctors always said that Luciani was not exactly a physical colossus but he was overall healthy; one of them Antonio da Ros once said of him "Non sta bene ma benone" - "He's not doing just well but very well"- and with that da Ros decided to visit him every three weeks instead of two. Doctor Antonio da Ros was to say that he was "very surprised" that the Vatican never contacted him.
There was so much going on in regard to Freemasons at the time which might have fueled suspicions. However his warm smile and gentleness, may be God decided that it was time for him to come Home.
I'll never forget being driven to school by my mother when we heard the news on the radio. I was eleven years old, and my mom screamed when she heard the news that JPI had died. It was definitely a turning point in my Catholic faith. To this day, I believe he was murdered.
To say the least it is very likely. Why was there no autopsy if he died of such "natural causes" I always wondered (so I agree with David Yallop). Luciani as everyone here probably knows really well too stood in the way of the Mafia and Italian Freemasonry with his proposed reforms and grand master Licio Gelli did something about it so everything can go back to business as usual by benefit of murder. (Incidentally the last chapter of "In God's Name" by David Yallop is called "By Benefit of Murder - Business as Usual".)
Wrong, ask your mother about Lucia and Fatima. Lucia told Albino Luciani, JP I, that he would be pope but that it would be brief, that he would die. That day I was about to give birth, in Europe, I was 26, so you are a kid still compared to me!!! 😅 😇😇
“ Sudden death” is something the traditional Catholic Church always prays against. It is a misfortune to die sudddenly, because one is denied the Last Rites, which are a great grace from God.
Thankfully confession and Last Rites are not and never have been a requirement to enter into God's House. However, I definitely do recognize how both could be of great comfort to those who desire it. I agree it is very sad and unfortunate to die suddenly. I humbly ask Abba not to inflict that upon my friends, family, love ones, my linage, my Nation, the world, and myself. In Jesus Mighty Loving, Merciful, Holy Name I pray, Amen 🙏🏿!
@carlousmagus5387 no, it's not a psicological issue. Sacraments vive the Grace of God and through confessions you repent from your sins, Christ commanded It of you want to be saved from the hell.

The poor man was just ill, the burden of Pope weakened him. The shame of it was that he had no one looking after him when he felt “ill”. He called his MD in another city, who prescribed a powerful heart medication without any medical assistance. The Holy Father basically was on his own. The Vicar of Christ should never be left alone. I know a Papal autopsy is forbidden by Papal law, but blood should have been drawn, and a body temperature taken. It was so sad to lose him, but the world did get Pope John Paul II..now Saint John Paul. ❤
