    To put it in perspective: The US spends around 1% as much on veterans and veteran health care as we do on our global military budget. If we spent 2% instead, every homeless veteran would have somewhere to live for free. In short, we are failing these brave men and women that volunteered to possibly pay the ultimate price in the name of our country.

    • @maximus11400
      @maximus11400 3 года назад

      @Devil doc Maybe your VA is a disgrace. The VA in a whole improved 1000% since the 90's. President Obama created Care in the Community so Veterans would not have to wait more than a month or drive more than 40 miles to see their Doctor. It's your VA that is failing you. I too am a Veteran, Patient and Employee at the VA. I know what I am talking about. I see my PCP whenever I want. I also see my Psychologist once a month. I can see her more if I want/need too. Also the VA budget is 26 billion dollars. That is a lot of fricken money.

    • @maximus11400
      @maximus11400 3 года назад

      How can you compare the VA's budget with the Department of Defense budget? DoD budget funds the five branches of our Military, DoD budget in 2020 was 721 billion. The VA's budget is 26 billion. 26 Billion is a truck load of money for healthcare. Remember there are a lot of Veterans on the street that do not want help. Some don't think they need help( which they probably do). Why would just the homeless Veterans live for free? Shouldn't that be all Veterans? Since I have a house I get penalized because I'm not homeless? I still suffer from PTSD, arthritis, chronic back pain, and more.

    • @JLewis1979
      @JLewis1979 3 года назад +1

      @@maximus11400 721 billion is grossly understated. That's just the DoD budget, not counting various other US military expenditures that don't have to go on the DoD budget review. The true figure in 2019 was around $1.9+ trillion total military expenditure. I agree with the rest of your reply. Some vets don't want help and no you shouldn't be penalized for owning a house. If anything you should be compensated higher for what you've been through. Thank you for your service.

    I'm a Iraq war veteran and this song hits home on alot of things with me. I lost alot of good friends in Iraq and Afghanistan and back here in America. I suffer from PTSD and other disabilities from Iraq. I really miss my friends all the time. I turn 58 years old this year and none of my children talk to me. I'm on my second marriage to a great woman. My brothers and sisters I don't trust because of everything that they have done to me and my wife. Before I went to Iraq I was a push over and let alot of things happen, after I came back from Iraq I just can't take their stupidity anymore.

    "You saved my life brother" gets me every time. This is one of those songs that never gets old and has serious meaning to it. Glad you guys did this... Gone Away should be your next reaction after this one. Ever since Veitnam, our veterans have always been disrespected and neglected thanks to politics and fake news media telling bogus coverage of what's really going on in the field. Our veterans deserve way better than this and the sad part is our homeless get better treatment than our vets... such a disgrace. I come from a long line of military in my family, several generations of and this is no joking matter. The American people need to do their part and help a veteran in need, so do yourself a favor a hug a veteran, thank him/her, and buy that soldier lunch. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🤘😎🤘🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

    When I came back from my last deployment to Irak in 2006 and was medically discharged, I moved into the woods and stayed away from all people. I had a 10 year field problem and only got my life together when a worker for a veterans outreach program came and talked to me. He came and looked for me because my sister contacted him, if it was not for them I would still live in that shelter in the woods today. The VA does great things when they can, when they have money. I got the help I needed and finally came to terms with who I am. To all my fellow vets and those that never came back, you are the best this world has to offer and I miss you all!

    • @endless013
      @endless013 3 года назад

      I don't think it's that "not enough people are trying to help" it's not that simple there are a few things at play. I've spent time all over this subject from being homeless to doing outreach at local shelters to working the back rooms and seeing how the finances work and the stock and just really I've crawled all through the subject. We need more funding, Trustworthy Shelter Security, Councilors, Trained Staff and a couple therapists and doctors wouldn't hurt either. Normal people are out here helping a lot and you never hear about it but until it's safer to sleep in a shelter than on the streets, until they can get cleaned up and checked out and talk to somebody that can help them take meaningful steps (on a regular basis) I think we're just stuck. There are also the homeless people that like being homeless, they don't want to be housed IDK if something is cracked in them and talking to a therapist would help or if they've been on the street so long they couldn't handle being walled in but these people also exist.

I was on 2-week leave from the desert when FFDP actually showed up at my base and did a concert. They gave my bro one of their guitar picks for me, since I couldn't be there. The only thing I had to look forward to, after all the missions were finally over, and yet couldn't be there. But got one of their picks for that show! :D

    The military teaches and trains people in many things that can be useful in the world. Organization, discipline, teamwork, coordination among them. What they don’t teach or train people for is how to deal with the “back home” world. In the military you were a somebody. You ran complex machinery and you did things that people who never served couldn’t even fathom themselves doing. They are in many cases Disposable Heroes.

    I tried hard, I Was in Afghanistan in 09. Lost a buddy there, I got home, went to school, became a medical professional. I thought that I could help myself by helping others. I descended into madness, lying to myself. I eventually lost my job and my apartment, nearly lost my life to my own hand. I was on a waiting list for the VA for months until the police got involved because I tried to kill myself. I can no longer work and am fully disabled, even though I look fine on the outside. Counselling and medication keeps me functional, but just barely. There are not enough resources out there to help all the vets that need it and I know there are guys and girls much worse off than me.
    And we are also part of the problem, because someone who is a warrior, who is willing to die for others and sees themselves as a protector feels weak and powerless when asking for help. It takes more strength than we ever showed in battle to admit that we can't beat something, when all our lives we've been beating the odds, overcoming impossible obstacles, doing things that normal people would never attempt. But even we can't fight the demons in our head alone. Nobody can.

    You guys missed some of the most important metaphors in the video. God is always mentioned as a she, referring to his wife, girlfriend, mother being ashamed of him and he sees himself as the devil. He doesn't understand because he was only doing what we asked him to. The girl with the flowers was going to give one to the homeless vet sitting on the ground. She reminded him of the daughter he lost due to divorce. The mother grabbed her and pulled her away like he was leper, like his wife did. I guess none of you could read lips though it was pretty obvious. The black guy at the end was saying "Bill, Bill, it's me Jacoby. You saved my life brother." The cop noticed a unit tattoo just like his on the guy he was arresting, meaning they they had served in the same unit though maybe in a different company.
    I was in Viet Nam and if anything it was worse than Desert Storm. When we came home we were met by groups of protesters calling us baby killers and murders. Most of us were drafted into the Army so we didn't have a choice but had to go. We got almost no help. So many of us went through the things in this song. So many of my brother's committed suicide. So many of us are still lost.

    One of the things that has to happen is there has to be some kind of real punishment for the fakes who are raking in money panhandling etc pretending to be a vet. It causes a lot of people to avoid being generous. The vets need a leg up, not to become wards of the state. Training, health and mental medical care and a starter apartment. Not handouts but a chance to get their lives back. On a different note guys, there is a great video about the boats who gathered to rescue people who were stranded in New York on 9/11 after all the bridges and tunnels were shut down. I from California. A lot of homeless in California are mentally ill, and the funds to help the homeless goes towards food and shelter. This won't fix the problem. We would need to build the largest mental health facility in the state to care for the mentally ill homeless specifically. The wealthy in California receive better care for they're mental issues, drug addiction, and alcohol addiction. The lack of regular jobs and high rent plays a factor. High taxes plays a factor, and homeless from other states are coming to California. I also think we should build tiny homes for the homeless who are not mental or addicts. The ones that are mental will go to the facility, so will the addicts. Of course this would all have to be state funded, and California state government doesn't care enough.

    In the USA there are many veterans that dont get help and cant get over everything they have gone through so they end up homeless with little to no help. The country basically doesnt care about them let alone homeless people. Homeless people are seen as basically a plague in some places with many cities and states doing everything to punish the homeless without even considering helping them. not sure about other countries but at least in the USA anyone who is not at least middle class is considered a form of infestation to anyone in charge that needs to be purged at all costs, even when most of the time helping those people and having them get better lives would be far cheaper.

    If the war doesn't kill you the VA will. Either thru crazy wait times, misdiagnosis, total lack of listening, most people treat you like your just not even worth their time when you go in for an appointment. I have been in massive pain for years and cannot get the surgery I need to be done, but they want me to go in for stuff I am not even having issues with. For the homeless thing, the VA will only help you if you are an alcoholic, or drug user. They drop the ball on this, a lot of Vets go homeless due to neither of those reasons, most times it is due to either the disability they have or in most cases it is the PTSD, so you have someone who can work, who can function, who isn't a drunk or junkie but just needs a foundation to get them stable, but nope no help for you go get drunk or high then come back. The amount of money wasted each year could build small houses in each state designated for Veterans to live in until they are trained, or stable, or even permanent residence.

    22 is too many. In the U.S an average of 22 veterans complete suicide every day. We need to do better for them. FFDP is huge on veteran support. This is also my favorite song. It hits especially hard being in ailitary family.

    You guys should try “gone away” or “coming down” those are both very deep and somewhat hard to watch in terms of the topic at hand

    Damn Dave there has been hair under those hats all along. 👍✌️🧑🏻‍🦰 Fortunately, as of 2020 the number had decreased to approx. 40,000 homeless vets but that’s still 40,000 too many and I’m sure many of those have slipped through the cracks and deal with some psychiatric disorders.

    It amazes me how many reactor's miss the fact that the soldier wearing a baseball cap and a full beard is in the Special Forces or an embedded agent with the C.I.A. The fact that a man who has to have given at least 6 to 8 year's of his life for this Country doing the most dangerous shit you can think of, is destitute, makes me feel ashamed! As for the panhandler's, that's a moral decision you have to make. Look at it in their shoes for a mile, then decide if you would do anything, short of robbery, to feed yourself.

    A lot of the government doesn't help veterans or active duty because of the PTSD they endure. (This is NOT an insult!!!!) A lot of veterans or active duty cannot live alone after they come home because of how bad the PTSD gets. 22 reported veterans every day die from suicide. Because of how bad their PTSD can get. The government doesn't help them, so when they go onto the streets, they go insane, and get ignored. They get labed "a crazy person". It's sad. It really deeply is. And I feel so incredibly bad. Our government doesn't know how to give them the help they need and so which they suffer.
    (Again, this is NOT an insult to ANY veteran or active duty! I live with veterans and have many active duty in my family. I know what they, and my ma who studied government, and has a degree in law, has told me. It's not an INSULT)

    This country does not give a shit about its veterans and it is absolutely disgusting! As a veteran I hate seeing my fellow Americans and brothers and sisters on the street. We have to do more for the people that fought and died to defend the freedoms we enjoy today!

      Yes , va when to much time is spent on a vet will route through "psychology" undermental "health", and ear mark them, then the roller coaster really kicks in, pathetic and sick. Went back to visit someone who went in for routine VA visit and was admitted, I showed up he was in a actual straight jacket with a guard in place. Putrid action on him, the most easygoing person.

    In America right now with the politicians in control, people who are there illegally are more important than my fellow veterans. Its a damn disgrace to know its that way. I would Never encourage young folks to join the military today. As a veteran, i know what your government thinks about our sacrifice. There are few benefits that are worth anything. You have to fight for everything. It took me 10 plus years to even get in the VA system to even have the right to be seen at the hospital. It took another 5 years before I finally got a disability rating for my back injury is received in the service. I spent 8 more years receiving a pitiful 126.00 a month for my disability before I was allowed a reevaluation and a higher rating. I want from 10% to 40%. I should mention that I had considerable hearing loss as well along with tinnitus, but to the VA, hearing is incredibly hard to get a rating. They give you hearing aids and a 0% hearing loss rating. Meanwhile my hearing gets worse and the ringing in my ears never seems to diminish. I cant wear the hearing aids at all because my workplace is for too loud and noisy to allow them, plus its hard to wear hearing aids and hearing protection at the same time. Long story, and one that is probably mild in comparison to some. I have been blessed to have not been rendered homeless, but I had to live in a small camper for several years. I have been a truck driver for 28 years now so I can afford to pay rent, so I dont have to live on the street but I am also aware that position can change quickly so I dont take it for granted. Anyway, thanks guys for reacting to 5 finger deathpunch. That song has a lot of meaning and its shines light on a serious problem, the Government would love to sweep under the rug. Its sad but it is true!

    As a whole t our country hasn't done as much as they should. Some cities have done tiny homes to try and help. FFDP is a awesome band and you can't go wrong with any of their songs. I would suggest their cover o.......f Blue on Black.

    The US as far as I know is doing nothing about this, they're more concerned with helping out illegal immigrants it seems like... the military should b better taken care of than ppl not even from this country!

      Right? Like I'm from the USA, but the people in charge seem more worried about other things, instead of focusing on the real issues like homelessness, or veterans needing help, etc.

      Division through opinion. Identity Poly-tic$ took control & has it's own generation of altered truth. It's been 22 a day for over a decade & all they do is make money off of it. It's the pure definition of carelessness. All for the Almighty Profit of Cents.
