One minor correction. The video describes the fighter’s “second wind”’ feature as “cracking your knuckles.” Having watched an excessive number of martial arts movies, I can say with confidence that cracking your knuckles happens at the BEGINNING of the fight. The way you heal in the middle of the fight is cracking your neck by leaning your head from side to side.
Fighter: Entire Rework of ALL level 1 and 2 Class Features Cleric: Level 1 Feature Rework to grant Clerics a list of Divine Domain Options (similar to how Spellblades Disciplines work) Warlock: Rework level 1 and 2 Self Healing mechanics and overall "re-flavored" things away from a BLOOD feel and to more of a pact and contract feel Wizard: Flavor Feature Update Bard: Level 1 and 2 Feature reorganization (they were the most "OP" class on paper)
I like this reimagining of Warlocks. Distinct from Clerics, who serve their patron, while a Warlock's relationship to their patron being more give-and-take. In this way, you could have a setting where a god could have devoted Clerics, while also having hired Warlocks.
LETS GOOOOOO!!!! so pumped about those cleric changes! 2 clerics of the same god can actually feel different! And I'm sure that will make your job a lot easier making subclasses! So excited to play a healing cleric of fire! Cauterizing wounds with holy flame!
So much flavor for Clerics now. Instead of the Domain driving your actions, now your character personality and preferences drive your choices. You can actually be flip sides of the same coin. Can’t wait for the Cloak and Dagger cleric build of light and dark.
Bards are a bit overpowered in 5e D&D. too. They were pretty weak on AD&D 2e, when they first became available as a class for PCs. The initial point was to be a jack of all trades, master of none. Now they are really good. It is not surprising that they were accidentally too powerful in DC20 given they were inspired by such an OP class.
For my 2 cents... please don't make Rangers martial druids. Instead? Rangers are survivors- able to 'find a way' in tough environments and situations. Think ARMY Rangers :)
Sorcerer Bloodlines should also be a 1st Level Feature, as it effects a PC often from birth. Also forcing players to choose from three limited backstory options is simply bad design. It should be like the cleric, let us create our own reason for our sorcerer's powers. For example, my PC got his magic through drinking half of the unfinished potions in an alchemist's laboratory in the search of more booze, and now he is a slime (water) sorcerer. The subclasses should be based on how the magic manifests, maybe the body slowly transforms, or it's purly magical, or it's like an constant aura that changes the environment more and more extreme.
I know I am late for this but I have a few critiques and suggestions for the new weapon system. There are not enough negative weapon properties and there are not enough ludicrous weapon properties. I don’t want the only pike to be a half pike I want to use an 18 foot long spear that is too big to use in doors. I don’t want just a big sword I want zweihander, and I want it to take 2 ap so that it can have all the power it deserves. This is one of the mistakes from dnd that you have yet to fix and I feel it would make a better game to give more room for extravagant weapons. Additionally I feel it is a mistake to abandon weapon maneuvers entirely. Some weapons, like the katana need unique abilities to sell their specific fantasies. I would say that the better move is to disconnect weapon maneuvers and weapon class and cut back to one maneuver per weapon, with some weapons sharing a maneuver. Finally the spike on the top of a halberd is more important than the spike on the back, a spear/axe would be more accurate than a pick/axe. Otherwise great systems all round.
I agree with this, but I can see how difficult that would be to balance and there might not be enough people like us out there to make it worth it. Maneuvers and the current weapon design is already massively better than D&D, and we as players can always create supplement material to do the specific things that we like
I really like how Commander looks. I want to play a campaign with my friends and my character will (I think) have a bit of character development to where they become more if a leader, so having a class for that is cool. I am struggling with their primary class though, as I want a sort of teleporty, spell slinging, magic sword slashing class. Looking at the spells and subclasses I'm happy to see teleport spells and weapon enhancement spells, but it would be nice to get some guidance on making a class based on teleporting. So far sorcerer looks the closest to what I want but it lacks the abilities the character requires as flavour. Really like how this is all coming together, keep up the amazing work! I cannot wait to play this.
The ranger is pretty much my favourite class, I can't wait to see how the subclasses look, because how things are right now they're gonna be really awesome!
Why can’t you have those extra skills, stamina and mana on the table and as a feature acknowledging it, it’s a class table not a Martial/Spellcaster table.
2:48 I do agree the power boost might be to big going from lv1 to lv2, especially since, with how the math in the game works, you nearly double your HP along with other relatively major basic stat boosts going from lv1 to lv 2 By that same math however, you get a comparatively tiny boost in HP and other basic stats at really high levels, and it would make sense that you will be getting a lot more major class and talent boosts at that point to smooth out the steady increase in power. I dont want characters to have huge jumps in power at really low level, but bearly have any relevant increases at really hight levels with the exception of curtain overpowered spells and feats. Thats been a major gripe I had with Dnd 5e Edit; Should have said nearly half more, not nearly dubble more for the Hp increase. My bad😅
@@astrogamer158 Oops, sorry about that, I got a bit mixed up with Pathfinder there for a second. I should have said nearly by half. But my basic point still stands. You get a1-3 Hp boost going from lv1-lv2 (with lv1 hp being 7 plus might) and the same from level 19-20. Relatively speaking your hp increases WAAAAAAAY bigger low levels then it does at higher levels. And the same principle goes for a lot of other stats. So that's why at much higher levels you would need more substantial class and talent boosts that can either further increase your stats or give you more features, abileties....that make you more powerful
@@vibinglurker5872Yes, thank you. I got a bit confused with Pathfinder to be accurate. Was talking about NOT DnD, by the wires in my brain got mixed up, and I used the wrong NOT Dnd here😅
I'm pretty concerned that the Barbarian and Commander aren't planned for any changes in their features. Barbarian's Berserker allowing them to freely dump Agility makes them the most heavily leaning class toward a single attribute (Might) in a way that I don't think is healthy for the game, and Commander is just too strong, particularly with how powerful/reliable healing through Inspiring Presence is. I don't think it should even be an option to drag out fights to continually heal. I firmly believe Commander's healing should be limited per day or at the very least per combat. Looking forward to all the other changes though as I love DC20!

I completely agree. Maby they cant cast all there spells right away, but at a bit higher level they gain this ability, once turning into a bear or similar beast begins to maby fall behind in power
@@viktormadzov5286 Easy limit early level. you need to spend one additional mana so that mean they can only cast cantrips at lower level and cant cast the mana spell until level 3 for example and cant enhanced it because the mana limit per class !!! and at later druid level they dont need to spend the additional mana anymore
@@optimus2200 Thats...actually kind of brilliand😍Its such a simple way to limit the magical power of wild shaped druids while still keeping them fun and letting them do cool magic things.
I really like how you think about Warlock and it's flexibility. Do you also have plans for variants of casting and its effects like Spheres of Magic has? What I love there is true "destruction warlock" from World of Warcraft, where you destroy and decay nature around you, e.g. plants die, water goes bad etc.
Just want to put it out there - I really hate "Ranger" as a class, regardless of system. To me, a ranger is a wilderness rogue. They have rogue sneaky skills, rogue shooty skills. Instead of disarming traps, they set them. Instead of picking locks, they so wilderness survival things. They climb trees, not walls. Why have hunter's mark when you can have sneak attack? The ranger just doesn't need to be a class. A monster hunter is a form of fighter, a combat archer is also a form of fighter. A martial pet-owner is a fighter. If you want a ranger with a pet, make them like familiars - little woodland spirits that do the wilderness rogue's bidding. And get rid of the magic. Leave that for druids. End Rant.
It's a bit unfortunate that you drew to that conclusion, though I do not believe coach has misled people. The Kickstarter points out DC20 had been in dev for a year, alpha testing for almost a year, playable at level 2, and estimated for Oct 2025. So for me, since it was ready to just level 2, I figured that there's much work to be done still, especially on subclasses, and here we are. Seems more or less within reason for pace of development to me
Do you have any idea how many itterations and playtests 5e and Revised 5e went through over how many years for it to still be messy? MCDM has been in dev for twice as long, is expected to come out around the same time, and has less content publicly available.

That cleric rework sounds so much better, how exactly you serve your deity should definately come after you choose which aspect of them you worship.
