    Overview
    Unique round of the WRC as the championship’s only mixed surface encounter. Medium-speed gravel roads contrast with smooth, fast, circuit-like asphalt. Teams switch cars from gravel to asphalt specification following Friday’s opening leg.
    Stages
    After Thursday evening’s start ceremony on Salou seafront, Friday’s gravel leg heads west and features three stages driven morning and afternoon and split by service at the PortAventura theme park in Salou.
    Horta - Bot is a new name but familiar roads and is sandwiched by Gandesa and La Fatarella - Vilalba, which were both driven last year. The latter, at 38.85km the longest of the weekend, includes several asphalt sections and surface changes.
    The second and third legs are entirely on sealed surfaces. Saturday journeys north-east and uses identical roads to 2018. Two loops of three stages are followed by a fan favourite test on Salou seafront.
    Sunday’s finale contains two laps of the Riudecanyes and La Mussara stages. A mid-leg service divides the loops.
    Iconic Stage
    La Fatarella - Vilalba was only driven for the first time last year but immediately became a favourite. It borrows 23km from the classic Terra Alta test and is fiendishly difficult. Constant changes from gravel to asphalt and undulating roads tax drivers and tired tyres, and who masters the 6.6km sealed surface section up to the midpoint proves decisive.
    Challenge
    Only mixed surface round of the season as two days of asphalt are blended with a day of primarily gravel.
    After Friday’s action the mechanics take centre stage as they race to convert their cars from gravel to asphalt specification in a longer than usual evening service to accommodate the surface change.
    Drivers must quickly adapt their driving style to an overnight change in road surface.
    Fast, smooth, sweeping asphalt is comparable to a race circuit in its characteristics.
    Event History
    First run in 1957 and included in the European Championship from 1975.
    Entered the WRC in 1991 when it was based on the Costa Brava in Lloret de Mar.
    Relocated to Salou in 2002 and after being a pure asphalt event, it developed into a mixed surface event in 2010.
    Sébastien Loeb dominated the rally, winning every year between 2005 and 2012.
    Car Setup
    Both asphalt and gravel set-up required for the mixed roads.
    Different tyres are needed for the two surfaces.
    Asphalt is abrasive and if temperatures are hot, drivers must manage tyre wear carefully.
    What’s new for 2019
    Salou seafront provides a picturesque backdrop to Thursday night’s opening ceremony
    Sunday’s La Mussara stage has not been used since 2014 and will be driven in the opposite direction to five years ago. The second pass forms the Wolf Power Stage, with bonus points for the top five drivers.

    一昔前の名車と言うか?優勝回数を重ね歴史にその名を刻んだ(ランチャ)が此の時代のWRCラリーの世界で尚且つ高速走行と瞬発力の世界でラリーに参戦するのだから凄い未だ秘めた戦闘力の有るラリーカーのランチャ〜!!
    当時のラリーでのズバ抜けた戦闘力故に優勝続けたランチャ〜対抗し得たのが三菱のランサーとトヨタのスープラ4WDとマツダのファミリア4WDで如何にWRCラリーでは二輪駆動車は非力かを見せられた〜特に雨やぬかるんだグラベルステージでは速度を維持出来ず真面に直進出来ぬ二輪駆動車〜!!
    だが4WDは速度を落とす事無く雨だろうがぬかるんだグラベルステージを巧く車を操り掛け抜けて行く〜!!
    その先駆者がランチャーインテグラーレ〜!!
    ラリーカーの理想系と迄言われて〜全てに置いて〜足廻りや車重そして全長にしても車幅にしても完璧に見えたミッションの繋がりにしても〜!!
    そのラリーカーが現役でWRCでの最新技術の推移を集めたラリーカーと渡り合えるのだから!!
    あのオンロードの覇者と言われる一目置かれて居るポルシェでも〜事ラリーではその覇気すら消し飛び輝きが消える世界がラリーの世界その上ラリーの最高峰の此のクラスで輝き等発せられる道理も無い〜!!
    フォードやシトロンそして首位で鍔迫り合いして居るヒュンダイとガズーのパフォーマンスやアクションがポルシェで果たしてあの高速走行をグラベルステージで演じて居るチームの車にポルシェで同じ事等出来る筈も無い〜例えターマックステージでもだ!!
    見えている世界が違う過ぎるし車のコンセプト自体が違う!!
    オンロードで名を馳せたチューニングチームのロータスにしたってラリーでは色褪せ上位に喰い込む事すら出来無い〜フォードの車やフォルクスワーゲンのポロを用いてセッティングしたって上位にすら遠く及ば無い!!
    其れだけラリーは奥が深いんです〜オンロードの最高峰と言われるF1や24時間耐久レースと言われるオンロードレース同じターマックコースを周回してドライヴァーが記憶し切ったコースを走って争う毎年同じコースを走って記憶したコースで何処に緊張感や緊迫したレースが出来るのか〜同じとこを周回するだけのレースとはラリーは根本的に違う〜国は変わらぬが毎年ステージが変わる走った事の無い誰1人ラリードライヴァーが走って居無いステージが用意して有る故にオンロードの様に決まったコースを走り緊張感無く周回して居るレースとは訳が違う〜故にラリードライヴァーは緊張の連続な故に真剣に望んでいるんだ気を抜けば即死に繋がる程の高速走行でステージに臨んで居るのがラリーだからね!!
    二輪駆動車でトップに居るラリーカーと同じ走行出来る筈が無い生優しい世界では無い!!
