Epidurals helped for 1 1/2 days then wore off, but I had 100% relief in the lumbar. L5-L2 is my hot zone. I sincerely hope that your implant works. I lifted heavy gas power dirt compaction machine for 5hrs that turned to mud. It was 3 times the effort to lift, move and repeat. Stopped, went home, drank a beer with Tylenol and work feeling like a sunburn. 2 years to lower pain before returning to fixing vehicles. The Dr who fused S1-L5-L4 w/bone, told me muscles cells were torn, creating scar tissue. Now fast forward 39+ years, I can’t stand, walk or navigate stairs without a cane! Hydromorphone 8mg / called Dillaudid was 5 times a day for 6+ years. New Dr is pointed to pain pump, yet remove Spinal Cord Stimulator & both leads and cut-off floater left behind. He said a refill every 3 months so must be 40cc that is filled thru the skin on the pumps nipple. Walk in, clean, refill and bandaid. Go home. Thanks kindly for sharing. Hope you are better.
Are these the pumps that can be used to deliver Baclofen (one type of muscle spasm medication) for spinal/rib muscle spasms. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and the pain is hard enough to deal with without the muscle spasms. Now the spasms are getting worse too. I know people with spinal cord injuries and people with Cerebral Palsy that have muscle spasms some times get these Baclofen pumps too. Thanks so much.
Yes these pumps are used for baclofen. Usually you need to demonstrate that oral baclofen has an effect but doesn't work without too many side effects. Maybe speak to your doctor to ask about spasticity management? Simple thing you might be tried already - if it's secondary to your joint issues the spasms might response to heat...e.g. intelliheat pad. My hip spasms ease with that almost as much as w diazapam.
Please doctor can I come to you ? God bless you for giving people their lives back . I pray my doctor scheduled me for surgery soon ! I have no quality of life right now.My doctor may be the one to finally change my life. My fusions did not heal properly. This is my last hope .
I had one just had it removed several months ago it worked great but where your spinal fluid runs down your back at Carl’s it to blow a whole way out said it would never heal back. I have got a new doctor he Had a x-ray and found that the Doctor Who took the pain pump out left the portal hooked up in my bag said now it is like a cluster wrapped around my nerves and everything in my neck had to have surgery again not too happy very dangerous
My Neuro doc informed me of this but it would be for Baclofen. I had a hemmoragic stroke 5 years ago which has left my left side weak and very spastic it’s getting harder to walk with my cane the Baclofen reduces spasticity. I’m nervous about getting it.
Does this work for Degenerative Bone Disease? Bad knees, bad hips and have more incisions than I can count. I don’t get how this can control all pain, anywhere on my body. I had a SCS implant for under a year. ( Didn’t help; it made my legs shake more than they already do, from nerve damage and RLS. ) I had to have it removed so I can get MRIS. I’m afraid this will just leave even more scars than I do now.
You must have your pump filled with a hydrophilic medication like morphine and dilauded. Fentanyl will not travel far from the catheter site as it is hydrophobic so it is better for pain that is in one place.
@@Findpepperbridge You’re right. My body tells quite a story and it’s got a long way to go. I’m much worse than I was when I said that. They could cut all the way from my head to my toes, I’d gladly wear them.
How do I find out about this I am in a lot of pain in my spine I can't walk I have slight serpentine curvature convex left and right distally disk narrow ing
You need to find a Pain Management Specialist, that does this procedure, however I can tell you from experience, this is usually a last resort type of thing. You have to have tried and failed other procedures, injections, medications and surgeries 1st.
I'm thinking of asking my doctor about this, for I don't like the way pain meds make me feel. Does the pain pump make you feel the effects of the pain medication?
Google side effects of a pain pump. You won't feel "high" or weird with it, because the meds don't get into your blood stream, but there are some other similar side effects as oral meds, such as nausea, constipation, etc.
I am a candidate for a HF10 neurostimulator. I was just informed this " pain pump" could be an option. Does anyone feel one works better than the other? Also does anyone still take oral medicine along with this device. I also have ruhomitoid arthritis. That my medication does help with as well. Thank you for any help with my decision.
I have done a lot of studies and have read so much before I had the pump implanted and as you know there can be many complications with any kind of surgery . I decided to go with a Medtronics device simply because they have been the leader in technology for Medical devises for many years and the support you get from Medtronic's is outstandingly above and beyond all others . I have a Medtronics Pacemaker and a Neurostimulator also but I had blown out my L-5 vertebrae causing sciatica down both legs to my feet to the point I could barely walk so now I have a Medtronics Intrathecal Pain Pump and ZERO pain. I asked my Dr. if something were to happen like if I broke my arm and needed pain medication and he said it would be fine because the pump medication does not go to your brain receptors like pills do . Educate yourself before you decide though because ultimately it is up to you and no one else .
It depends on what is going on that is giving you the pain . I had a Stimulator implanted and it worked great for over a year and needed no oral pain killers at all . After that I had my L-5 vertebrae injured that caused me nerve damage and the stimulator just would not help no matter how they adjusted the settings so now I have an Intrathecal pain pump and you do not need oral pain medication with them because they target the area on your spinal cord with very small amounts of pain medication . The results are phenomenal ! And yes you can take prescribed pain meds if you break your arm or something as long as it is for short periods to heal because oral pain medication goes to your brain where as pain pump medication does not .Do your research and inform yourself and good luck !
Had pain pump implanted a month ago. Changed my life. No burning pain in my legs. Can sleep now. No regrets
Thats a great outcome. Im going to request a pump. I have alot of spinal damage and Adhesive arachnoiditis
What med does your pump deliver? Morphine? Brilliant it's brought you relief.
Are you still having success with it?
I'm getting one Monday & Soooo nervous but hoping to get my life back!
I hope I get it to ASAP because I’m in so much pain and my live stopped pray for me 🤍🙏🏻🥺
I'm scheduled to have this surgery tomorrow morning. I sure hope it helps with my pain. This is more or less a last resort.
How’s it going?

What is the difference between hf10 and pain pump when you can't get your meds for pain

Not really. Just no pain
not for me, it's been 14 months, love it. Not 100% pain relief, but got about 40% OF MY LIFE BACK.
Everyone is different ! That is why they give you a targeted injection before implantation to make sure you are a candidate for the pump .
This.was to be done to me for a good while but I never received it so is my name.on any of medtronics unit
And when I go to hospital they give me Demerol and it does help
