I didn't know what to expect with this one but I did feel called to use my watercolour pens. I've been learning a lot of communicating boundaries but have never drawn what it might look like. I actually drew a beautiful image of a rose with thorns and that is not what I imagined it initially just went with the flow. I love this one.
Hello Kathleen I have always been a people pleaser all my Life. I am now in my late 50 s . Really enjoy art , but I’ve felt stuck on how I could move forward with it. I came across this video early hour this morning. Now looking forward to doing this art forms for my self I feel Iam at a cross roads in my life and I need/ want to move forward to know my self Better.
Thank you for these videos. I'm a counseling intern and i have to teach an art class. And I am limited to what I can use so these ideas are super helpful especially with my population I'm working with
I found this art invitation very helpful. I am an art therapist as well and was feeling a little like I wanted some direction as I so often am in the caregiving role at work and as a mom, this was wonderful self care and I thank you.

I saw your story on ho you became a therapist and I think I want to pursue this as my career!! Ive been a Montessori assistant teacher for 10 years and I just got my bachelors degree in positive psychology. I feel like I was meant to see this channel and your story! I’m really enjoying your videos… I am trained as an art psychotherapist and having had sometime away from the profession these videos are helping me reconnect
Hi Erica, thanks for sharing. I had some difficulty doing this exercise, my drawing just felt kinda fake and not very powerful. And when i think about the boundary i have now it feels like two solid walls keeping me inside. Is there any art therapy exercise I can do to soften this self imprisonment? Any related art therapy books you can recommend? Thanks a lot! Much appreciated.
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing about you and your process. Sometimes, the art we make during these exercises can make us feel uncomfortable and there is a teaching in that. Ask yourself why it feels fake and not powerful. Perhaps, there is a reason of why it came out like that. You can try drawing it again and really think about how you can soften it. Only you know the answers and the more you keep drawing, the more the answers will be revealed. I'm not sure if there are any specific related Art Therapy books about it but I love Art as a Way of Knowing by Pat B. Allen. Hope this helps! 💖
Erica, I enjoy your videos very much. I am a 66yo grandmother in the Los Angeles area. If it’s not too personal, where do you buy your clothes? They’re lovely.
Hi Erica. I know that art can be used as a therapy or for healing. But did not know exactly how. I learned about ART Therapy. But I can't do graduation again. I don't have the money neither time. But I love art and want to help others using art. Is there any way I can do that as well as earn from it without having a degree? Just by having the experience.
I *love* your exercises and ideas. Please don't stop posting! Also... if you have any exercises around identity - that would be so helpful not jjust for me but I'm sure many other Asian women right now. I'm half Chinese and half Caucasian and this year I've really started to understand how much I internally oppressed the "foreign" part of me, and there's grief, esp with all that's going on in the news right now. What kind of exercise ideas might help me reincorporate pieces of me I labelled wrong or bad?
Hi Christie! Thank you so much for your message - it means a lot to me! Yes, I feel the grief too around all the news going around. I'm still figuring out some exercises around this as well and will post it soon. Thank you for your input. Also if you're interested, I am offering a sliding scale for my 1:1 or group sessions right now to my Asian community. Sending you love!
