    Would love to know what kind of betting breaches Toney actually done. It would give abit more clarity to the fans +public into the case i think its only right they disclose it due to such a significant ban maybe it could prove to be a deterant to other fellow professionals in the future.. Did he give friends/family a heads up on him scoring a pen or a free kick. Did he actually gamble himself . Did he disclose line ups or possible injurys to team mates before kickoff? Like what he did he do? There will never say but id like to know...😂

    Football is about fair play and unfortunately it’s one rule for some people but others can do whatever they like. Question remains when are Man City going to be punished for 100 charges of financial doping over the last decade. It’s also disgraceful that his suspension comes before they play Man City and the fact Brentford have a chance to qualify for European competition. Harsh punishment considering Toney cooperated fully with The FA. Also Trippier was only given 10 weeks suspension. I can understand not playing matches but not being allowed to train is uncalled for. Glad Ivan and Brentford can appeal, maybe a reduced ban should be on the table. Hopefully Ivan gets the help and support he needs for gambling addiction whilst helping others. Football governing bodies need to ban all gambling sponsorship and advertising from the game with immediate effect.

      @@FrankieBlueEyes I think the point is obvious - City as a club has substantially more power, including financial power, than a footballer like Ivan Toney does. It's much easier for the bodies that govern football to reprimand Brentford's best striker than it is to properly reprimand the richest club in the world that is likely to win the treble. City are just as guilty of their charges as Ivan Toney is with his charges. The difference between them is that City have much more power - they can simply get the best possible legal representation which will no doubt help them get away with their decade long abuses of financial rules with a relative slap on the wrist.

    • @FrankieBlueEyes
      @FrankieBlueEyes Год назад +2

      @@user-hp8mr9wk4t yes Man City has more power than a single footballer, that's not news. The point is Toney admitted to the charges and Man City haven't. • @user-hp8mr9wk4t
      @user-hp8mr9wk4t Год назад +3

      @@FrankieBlueEyes Honestly, your argument really doesn't make much sense. It doesn't matter that Man City haven't admitted to the charges. Do you seriously think Man City would just admit the charges when they know they have billions in the bank and can get far better legal representation than any Brentford player can? Why would City admit the charges right off the bat when they know they can go through the process with said far better legal representation and get off with a relative slap on the wrist?
      Ivan Toney does not have that same power. He pleaded guilty to most of the charges, but not all of them. The FA withdrew 30 charges and he pleaded guilty to the remaining 232 charges. It would not have benefited him at all to plead not guilty to all charges given the evidence - it was better to plead guilty to most of the charges than risk further charges or an even worse ban/ reprimand.

    It's a very harsh set of rules. Was it Sturridge who mentioned to his family that he'd likely be moving abroad and they tried to ban him for it because a relative made a bet without him knowing? Why is something like that on the players shoulders?
    And why shouldn't players be able to bet on themselves and their teams? As long as they make it a requirement that they need to bet on themselves to win, what's the issue? It would be bad for Toney to try harder to win a game because he has a bet on it or something?
    I totally get it when it's like the bets Joey Barton made against his team, although even in his case he never intentionally threw matches (just bet against his side when he wasn't being selected).
    Sounds more likely that the FA is in the pocket of the big betting companies who don't want to lose money because players have insider information.

      Extract from Wikipedia: Spot-fixing attempts to defraud bookmakers by a player taking a pre-arranged action to fix the result of that specific event.[1] Spot-fixing differs from match fixing in which the final result of a match is fixed or point shaving in which players (or officials) attempt to limit the margin of victory of the favoured team. Spot-fixing is more difficult to detect than match fixing or point shaving, and by its nature, it can be perpetrated by a lone fraudulent player without any other players or officials being needed to co-operate.

      Example of Spot-fixing in Association Football:
      Following his retirement, Matt Le Tissier admitted that he had bet on the timing of the first throw-in in a match he played for Southampton against Wimbledon in 1995. The plan failed when a teammate who was unaware of the scam managed to keep his underhit pass on the pitch.[3] Le Tissier was forced to quickly kick the ball from play to prevent losing money on the bet and managed to "push" after kicking the ball out after 70 seconds.[4] He stated that he felt so silly about the incident that he never attempted it again.
