  • In this podcast, Kushal speaks with Abhijit Chavda about the overall state of Indian discourse. With the rise of alternative media since 2000, the content landscape in India has changed. To add to this chaos, we had the advent of social media. What is the road ahead for Indian discourse? How does one define some parameters in discourse? Can they even be achieved?

It is always like that.. The speaker is always pragmatic and nuanced in his ideas. Fanboys will not spend time critically thinking what the speaker has said and in what context. Then they go out and puke nonsense which is out of context in every other context except the context in which it was said so. The speaker gets bashed as charlatan because the bashers themselves won't watch the speaker's talks (first hand research is non existent)

We must learn from our past and our competitors in this age. Would love Abhijit to do.more science podcasts. Perhaps he can rehash his past ones on bitesize chunks for the tiktock audience.

Hey i dont know how successful I will be with this but Im planning to start a podcast on science of machine intelligence and cognition and to make it understandable for most people Im starting by making short form content where Im investigation this topic from the very first questions and documenting my whole journey of studying so even making videos on how i study, understand topics, find pattern etc. So i have this belief that a science podcast can work in india without making it masaledar this way (one of many ways, there can also be other ways too )

The one reason for which I love Imams and Maulavis and Islamic preachers is that they speak for all muslims. I mean they do social work regarding raising their standards of living and seek to ensure a strong social support system for the lower strata of society of their people and also is their voice unlike hindu spiritual gurus who now enjoy lavish lives and hindutwavadis only do upper upper discussions which we common masses can not relate.

There are lavish commercial babas and there are some people with a mission either predominantly social or mostly spiritual or a combination. Even if the other people you allegedly love are the most frugal and hardworking, the message they indoctrinate is narrow tribalistic and anachronistic not to say dangerous for the world. Just consider the states of the societies they dominate.

@lovlina11 Most young people nowadays are not having more than 2 kids. There is no need for any programmes to spread "awareness." Once people get a certain level of quality of life they automatically switch to having less kids. Japan is having negative birth rates not because the government forced them to. Same with west. Same with Russia. China too. 1 child policy just accelerated it. People don't realise how much the industrialisation of china has contributed to their current population crisis. Not saying 1 child policy didn't make things worse. It definitely did, but then the question comes "why aren't they having kids now? One child policy is scrapped off anyways." Therein lies the answer.

1.Masses can't fight mighty british with violence (would have lead to massacre bigger dn jaliawala)...as kaushal says u can't fight state with violence in modern days
    2. Gandhi wasn't sent to kalapani like subhas or sardar or nehru bcz they were popular leader nd never indulged in violence hence couldn't crack the level they did with Savarkar
So, basically talking about developing critical mind nd spreading one sided story is not something carvaka podcast i subscribed for..

1.Most of people in the british Raj armed forces were Indians. It is like some puny guy being able to beat khali because the puny guy has the control of khali's hands. Even if the armed forces did peaceful satyagrah then the british raj would collapse.
      2. In no scenario I can see 800k people winning against 250 million people however much armed they are.
I don't think gandhi was deliberate about it but his veiws very much helped the brits. Imagine someone like Netaji or savarkar in place of gandhi. Raj would have fallen in days.

Gandhi became over the edge secular(even Patel, Savarkar, ambedkar thought so) but only in ways where he would blame hindus for being in majority and if a wrong is directly done by the minority, then it's because of the media propoganda and bullying diaspora... It's the dharmic violence, that has helped us maintain a hindu majoritarian state. The back hand of India was always ready for violence, only the front gandhi talked about non-violence...The Britishers knew that, they knew who fought for them in Africa, in the Ottoman. The Sangh had the people ready, there were passive aggressive movements.
this is like that meme "poora desh nark ki khai me jhoka ja raha hai aur poochta hai, nonviolence me raho"

What nonviolence was he thinking that was being done?
Didn't he knew, 40 years before even Savarkar, syed ahmed khan proposed the two nation theory. Well, JSD in his second book goes back to the time of Akbar. Even late as 12 August 1946, the muslim league declaring the direct action day.
Lord Wavell, the then viceroy and governor-general of India, would later claim that Gandhi had told him at the end of August, 'If India wants blood bath she shall have it... if a bloodbath was necessary, it would come about in spite of non-violence.
Gandhi knew what was happening, but nonviolence was the hill that he choose to get assassinated on, ironically.

this land was under foreign occupation for 8 centuries before gandhi was born.SO you can't blame only gandhi. ALso note that british empire was the strongest industrial empire of the time. People in India are not like vietnamese who will fight side by side against one enemy. Here people were more concerned about purity and pollution(caste) & their personal wealth (i dont blame them because india is a genetically diverse racially ).you say 800k vs 250 million..but u clearly ignored that among those 250 million..they are of different castes, religion, they think differently, they eat differently, u think in 18-19th century a brahmin and a chamar would have fought side by side?and how was India conquered by "only" by 25,000 east India company soldiers before any Indian joined the british army?initially they were all british & irish..yet they managed to campure large parts of India with the help of Chomu maharajas. A bania funded the EIC in bengal beause Siraj-Ud_daulah was an MAd-man hell bent on destroying hindu upper castes.

These two keep on criticising the audience but fail to understand that long format videos like podcasts are not everyone's cup of tea. People like short infotainment videos. Neil deGrasse Tyson didn't become famous because he participated in long podcasts. He became accessible because he mixed entertainment with science. Rather than ranting about the audience, these two should introspect and rethink their own content format.
