ONE DAY IN LIMA TRAVEL GUIDE (PERUVIAN FOOD, MIRAFLORES, KENNEDY PARK) // PERU TRAVEL VLOG

- Wondering what to do with one day in Lima, Peru? In this Lima travel guide we show you our 7 favourite things to do in Lima, Peru! This video is the first of our Peru travel vlogs and we jam packed it with the best way to see Peru's vibrant capital city for anyone who is short on time. If you happen to have a second free day in Lima, you could also do these 7 things over two days and just spend a bit more time eating delicious food in between each stop! Peru is famous for its incredible cuisine, and Lima is considered the food capital of South America, so there is no shortage of AMAZING food to try. We made sure to find ourselves Peruvian ceviche and the famous lomo saltado at mercado 28 and were NOT disappointed by our first taste of Peruvian food!
For your visit to Lima, we highly suggest you start your day at Miraflores (many visitors rent accommodation in Miraflores for easy access and safety) which is home to Kennedy Park and Parque del Amor. Give yourself lots of time to pet the dozens of cats at Kennedy Park if you are someone who enjoys a furry cuddle! After taking in the epic coastal views at Parque del Amor, walk or cycle along the coast to Mercado 28 for an incredible ceviche or lomo saltado lunch (or a dozen other options!). Then its a quick jaunt over to Baranco to watch the street performers and hold your breath as you cross the Bridge of Sighs. You can then make your way to Plaza de Armas to wander the streets and take in the beautiful architecture (if you have the time, we recommend joining a free walking tour around Plaza de Armas to learn more about the history of Lima). Finally, once it gets dark, head over to Parque de la Reserva to take in the fountain light show! This show was not at all what we expected, but it was awesome and is a great way to end a full day of sightseeing!

Who else thinks Lima is worth visiting just to go to the cat park? 😆
Obviously!!! 😻😻😻
Yes!!! 😹
Hi, everything is fine with your video but an observation: the cat park is managed by a person who kills cats: ruclips.net/video/s6VPhvQEzW8/видео.html
Can confirm it is
Hahaha perfect. We couldn't agree more 😂
It is not only the “best ceviche” but originated in Perú 5000 years ago in the oldest civilization of the Americas called Caral. When the conquistador came to Perú, they added new ingredients to the ceviche as onion, garlic, cilantro, and like. Five thousand years ago, they used citrus from the Amazon to cook fish and hot peppers, and sea salt. Since the Spaniards expanded to other regions in Latin America also, the ceviche traveled with them, adopting their way of making it. Therefore the authentic ceviche is from Perú and no other place.
That is so interesting, thank you for sharing! We really enjoy learning how things like food, language, and customs traveled across regions. It makes sense that ceviche traveled with the Spanish as they moved across the continent. Thanks for teaching us!
Lima is beautiful! We loved it there. Great video!!
Thank you, Lima was just so pretty and wonderful to explore. We couldn't believe how lively and vibrant things were. Plus the FOOD!!! 🤤
We love lomo saltado and ceviche. Awesome Peruvian food. Thanks
They are so delicious! Nicole has been getting Lomo saltado wherever we go 😆 she loves it!
What a lovely video! The food in Lima looks amazing 😍
People should come to Peru just for the food! It's so delicious 🤤🤤
love Lima, there is really a lot of things to do there, fortresses and historic buildings also it may be a little caotic because. there is a lot of people living in the city but you get used to it 😂 , definetly I can gain some weight happily there, I hope you guys are having an awesome time in Peru ❤️
O my gosh the food in Lima is amazing! We want to go back just to try out different restaurants. Plus the city itself has so much to offer, we just loved it. So far Peru has been just amazing! 🥰🥰
Thank you for taking us along! Love Peru so much ~
It is our pleasure! The city was just so wonderful and so far Peru has been amazing 👏😍
Mercado 28 looks awesome! We love markets like that in other countries because they are such a great way for us to sample a whole bunch of different things! These seven tips are super helpful as we plan our upcoming trip!
So glad to hear you found it helpful! Yes, we love markets lie Marcado 28 too! It's also great that we can each order from different places and still eat together. Such a treat!
beautiful Peru and second Argentina my country
We loved visiting them both! Such amazing countries.
Que hermosa ciudad 👏🏼
¡Acordado!
You may find ceviche in many countries of Latin America BUT the ORIGIN OF CEVICHE IS IN PERU 🇵🇪….it all started with the its Moche culture marinating fish with an acidic fruit…and then it evolved from there when the Spanish introduced limes to the country….and yeah some countries can claim all they want, but the proof of ceviche origin backs Perú as the the one and only. And yeah most people agree that the Peruvian ceviche is the tastiest as well 😃
Thank you for sharing that with us! Mico absolutely loved the Peruvian ceviche!
I grew up in Lima. The small mom&pop dives are the best food. If the locals fill the place, you won't be disappointed.
I love Lima looks nice city
It has some really beautiful spots!
It's only nice where there is $$$. Miraflores, San Isidro, La Molina, Barranco. Pueblo Libre, Magdalena + Jesus Maria =Middle. Las Casuarinas and La Planicie, are the Beverly Hills. Callao, just stick to La Punta.
Lima is wonderful thank very goog video.
Thanks so much, the city is very beautiful!
Holy Cinematography 🎥🌄🌇
We try our best! Plus Lima is actually a beautiful city!
One of my favorite cities. Love the European architecture in the old town.
Ceviche Is original from Perú. The Moche civilización created it thousands of years ago, the other countries prepare their versión, but nothing compares to the original Cebiche from Perú.
So far of all the ceviche we have tried, Peru has the best tasting. Absolutely delicious 💯
Claro pe alexia😅
Fantastic Peruvian !!!
Thanks for watching!
Hi guys, great video, simply wonderful, love lima too, I'm enjoying my self as well, 4 months and not tired yet,.....greetings from usa, but right now in lima perú,...
Lima was just a fantastic city. We absolutely loved it and think it doesn't really get that much attention, especially after all the other big attractions. For sure it's great to visit those other, more popular places... but after traveling the country, Lima sure is a nice place to settle in and relax for bit ☺️
Great drone shots!! Those cliffs at the beginning look INCREDIBLE! Unfortunately for Marshall and me, I have horrible lung capacity😂 sooo that bridge may not end well for us
Thank you! The cliffside makes for some gorgeous shots. Sounds like you two may have go stretch the rule about no running for the bridge 😆
Nice, if you are still there, go to the historic “old town” to watch the changing of the guards. Sorry it was like seven years ago. I don’t recall what is called.
Ah yes we have heard of that! If we find ourselves with an extra morning this week we will check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!
Hello guys, welcome to Peru, may your stay in my country be incredible, I wanted to tell you about ceviche, the dish is Peruvian, of course, in all of Latin America they do it, but its origin is Peruvian, they should make a video trying Peruvian food, Peruvians feel proud especially our gastronomy, and do not forget to try the inka kola, the national drink of Peru, greetings☺👋🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪
We will definitely make a video all about Peruvian food, we have been loving it! And Mico has come to LOVE Inca Cola! Do you know if it's only available on Peru?
@@nicoleandmico we have Inka Cola in the US we only see them in Spanish markets though or Peruvian restaurants
We've never seen them in store back home in Canada but if they're in the US then maybe there's a chance 🤞
@@nicoleandmico I can confirm Inca Cola is available in Canada. I have seen it in both major supermarkets and Latin American food stores
Perfect! Something to look forward to (if we ever go back home 😆)
Lima is the southern California of South America with a touch of colonial Spain and ancient civilizations.
Maybe we should add southern California to our bucket list to compare the two!
@@nicoleandmico That would be great, but Lima has colonial and ancient pyramids.
Amazing. There's so much we have yet to learn about in the history of Peru. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful country
It is! 😊
Welcome to my beautiful country peru 🇵🇪
Diviértanse mucho !!! Enjoy !
Muchas gracias!
I hope you get a chance to check out the textiles. My friend brought me back a beautiful scarf from Peru. I had to wear it today after watching your video. PS Is that a new sweater? Did you get it locally... it is lovely.
The textiles here are amazing! So many beautiful sweaters and scarfs made from different wools like alpaca (super soft!) And yes Nicole picked it up at the Witche's Market in La Paz Bolivia. She loves it and it looks very South American 😁
@@nicoleandmico I have a similar sweater bought in Cuzco
The sweaters are so popular! We've seen so many people wearing them. I think Mico wants to join the club and get his own 😁
wwww, nice place to visited
It was great! We loved Lima!
Muy bello LIMA 🇵🇪😍
Good job! Thanks for the guide.
I love pickled seafood but i have to agree with Nicole about Ceviche. You didn't try King Kong. Just around the corner from where you had your breakfast crepes is a Manja Blanca, Peruvian Dulce De Leche (Best in the world), shop. Don't worry, they sell King Kong all over Peru.
Thank you for the suggestion! We will actually be back in Lima for a bit because our flight out of Peru is from there, so we will search for King Kong then. It looks amazing online!
i love Peruvian Food so Tasty and Inexpensive
100% agree. So good!
Wuau beautiful city!
It is! Thanks for watching!
Wow! Didnt know Peru was this beautiful.
We are so glad we could share its beauty with you!
Beautiful lima

Great city! Beautiful video!
Thanks for watching! Lima is a very beautiful city!
Wonderful video! Thank you ☺️
Thank you!
Amazing video guys , high quality and amazing breathtaking views of the coast line, thank you !! from York 🗽 🇺🇸
Lima is such a gorgeous city that it's hard to take a bad photo! Glad you enjoyed and if you like the views then you would love our video about the Salkantay. Peru just blew us away with its natural beauty 🤯
😎 welcome to Perú guys! 🇵🇪
Peru is amazing and we loved exploring it 😍
Hermoso
We never knew Lima was so beautiful! 😍
🎉🎉🎉Muy buenazo .. 🎉🎉❤
1:35 Istanbul: Our friendship will be legendary
EXCELLENT VIDEO WISHES FOR YOU
Peru has the best Ceviche because Ceviche originated in Peru.
We have learned that since coming to Peru - how cool!!
Lima brlleza wow❤
Lima was pretty but the constant cloudy days started to get to me after a while haha
Yes! We got really lucky during our first visit and had quite a few sunny days, but we were recently there for another week and hardly saw the sun at all. It can start to feel a bit disheartening!
A mi me gusta el nublado de "Lima la gris". Desde que tengo uso de razón siempre fue así, salvo en verano
Try to go back starting at the end of December until May to see more sunshine ☀️
Excelente contenido
Me encanta Lima Perú 🌎😍🇵🇪👍
Nosotros tambien!
SALUDOS DE PERUVIAN 🇵🇪😍
Grqacias amigo!
Hahahahaa.... 7:29 your reaction made me laugh... and it's very good Nicole... ceviche is Peru's flagship dish and not all tourists have to like it... Thanks for being in Lima (the city of kings) and Mico thank you You look a lot like a friend in the jungle of Peru... we value your opinion very much... and of course... I'm sure that one day you will be in the jungle of Peru and the Sierra tasting the best dishes in the world... only in Peru .. take good care.
Haha thanks for welcoming us to the city Hernan! I (Nicole) really wish I liked seafood so I could enjoy food like ceviche with Mico! Luckily he will eat just about anything and LOVES seafood, so at least one of us can try awesome new fishy dishes! Lucky for me, Peru has so many incredible dishes that don't have seafood and I have been loving them since we arrived to the country! The food truly is magnificent here
Perú-Lima is Amazing
The Peruvian Food is delicious😋is the best
1:35 Istanbul to Lima: You and I are not so different.

In Lima now , is winter and it hasn't beatiful sunset in this time :( . Other date, Peruvian Landscapes are not totally green in this time ( most yellow) , compared with February- April
It is quite overcast these days, isn't it? We filmed this video in mid-late June and got really lucky with the beautiful sunshine we got on the day we went out!
Latinoamérica 🥰
Great job guys! You know what would be helpful to add are food prices
You are totally right, we completely forgot! Thank you for the great suggestion.
You videos and tips are great! Thank you! Could you please share what size of hero clip you use? (Maybe you've said it somewhere, but I missed it.)
Glad you enjoyed! We have the Small size (max 50lb/22kg) Heroclip and it's awesome! I probably wouldn't go any bigger because then it gets really bulky but this size has worked great for us in various situations 🙂
@@nicoleandmico Thank you for this helpful information!!
Great video
You guys looks a happy Couple.
Couple you tell us your nationalities?
You looks american and him filiipino. Well, i was in both countries, that's why my guessing. Please confirm. Hahaha
I expect to watch your Machu Picchu visit video.
Enjoy your visit in Perú
Cheers !!!
Hey there! You are right that Mico is from the Philippines and he moved to Canada when he was a kid. I've been in Canada my whole life. It's so cool that you have been to the Philippines!
@@nicoleandmico Bingo!!! hahaha, I knew it, Greetings
Im peruvian but i used to live in NY and NJ for almost 20 years and 14 years in China and 6 years in Hong Kong. So I visited neighbor countries where i used to live and i love videos as yours. I love Filipino people, they are so great, simple and friendly and well, i love them, I considerate filipino people in Asia as Latinos in America continent. isn't it?
(BTW i was dating a filipina girl years ago, great memories)
Greetings to Mico and keep rocking the road. Cheersssss
Wow what an amazing life! It is so awesome to hear from someone as well traveled as yourself 😁 Thank you for the well wishes on our journey! We plan to head over to Asia in a couple months and are so excited to be going back!
The water fountain show looks like what I saw in Singapore.
It was great! Hope to see the one in Singapore very soon!
The 10%of Peruvian Population has at least one relative with Chinese roots. Peru has the biggest Chinese migration in SouthAmerica and the second biggest Japanese Migration. So that's why Peruvian cuisine is so varied. And Ceviche is NOT exactly Raw fish because the fish is "cooked" by the "acid/sourness" of the lime juice. Greetings dear friends!!😊
Awesome, thanks for sharing that info with us! It's so neat to learn about the Chinese influence here. We had no idea it existed before visiting the country!
That is not correct, chinese marry with chinese and japanese marry with japanese, with some exceptions. Traditions that we respect.

Great video! How did you get around Lima? Uber/cab or public transit? Also what did you do for airport transfers?
Thank you! If I recall I think we just used Uber or a similar ride sharing app. Much better than taxis and lower risk of scams. We did the same thing for rides to and from the airport too
@@nicoleandmico You were able to order Uber from the airport? I thought that at many airports they banned Uber from picking up there.
Hi Nicole, we are planning to go Peru in September. Do you suggest to carry warm cloths.
Hi there! Yes, we would recommend bringing some warmer clothes, although how warm will depend on where you go. If you are heading toward Cusco then you can expect temperatures to get to 4 or 5 degrees Celsius (about 40F) at night time, and indoors can get very cold when the sun goes down because the houses aren't insulated and there is no heating. If you are staying near Lima then it will probably only get to 15 degree Celsium at night, but the highs are only around 20C that time of year so a light jacket will be helpful.
Hi!
I’m going in September !!
It looks like mask requirements have relaxed a little ? Is that what you experienced ??
Hey there! The mask requirement in Peru is actually fairly strict compared to other places we have been in recent months. Technically you don't have to wear masks outside at the moment, but many locals do. To go into grocery store and malls you are required to wear two masks. In the tourist places like Cusco the mask regulations are a bit less. Have a wonderful trip!
Hi there! What time of year did you visit Lima? I will be traveling there this October. I am unsure on what to pack as far as clothing.
Hey there we were in Lima in June which is their winter. I would pack a few sweaters as it can be cold in the evening
I want so bad be thereeeeeeeeeeeee
19 years ago I changed my beautiful Lima for the security of Calgary.
I hope to retire in Lima one day.
Hi.
Can you send a link on the requirements to travel to peru? In particular, what requirements there are related to covid?
Hey there! We always use IATA to check for travel requirements when headed to a new country. The website is www.iatatravelcentre.com/world.php
When we went, the requirement was to either be vaccinated or have a covid 19 test within the last 48 hours, and to complete a health form before departure. It was really simple!
Hi Nicole and Mico.
Mabuhay!
I'm from the Philippines and I just arrived in Lima today. We will be here until Sept 12.
I need a data only sim for pocket wifi or cellphone. Can you recommend a telecom company?
Have a wonderful time in Peru! Our suggestion for a SIM is Claro, we have used them in multiple countries (including Peru) and had great service all over the country. It's also easy to refill the account at any pharmacy if you run out of data. To get set up you will have to go to a Claro store the first time. Don't forget your passport! They will need your original passport to get you set up
@@nicoleandmico
I just realized I arrived just in time for a major feast day in Peru, that of Sta Rosa de Lima.
Are there special places to visit in Lima related to the feast day apart from the a church and the precession?
We really aren't too sure what there would be to do in the city for the festival but we hope you have a great time!
Very god
Mi país tiene rico sazón
La selva de Yurimaguas es muy hermosa les recomiendo que la visiten
Which restaurants would you recommend in Barranco?
Where did you try that street food? What area was it
(#5)
@1:33 wheres the 420 at ?
we must have missed it 🙃
Hola, is it compulsory to wear mask in public?
Hey there! It is not mandatory at the moment to wear a mask outdoors, but inside it is. We often have to wear two masks to be allowed into grocery stores and malls. Many people still wear masks outside, but quite a few do not. Hope that helps!
Lima como capital tiene a disposición todo lo que el peru ofrece respecto a gastronomía

Nicole and Mico - What’s been your favorite area in South America so far?
Brasil
Que suerte de este chinito esa mujer esta ya no ya en su punto de mani.

I've been living in Peru for 5 years and 7 months. Because I am from Texas, what I always look forward to in Lima is Mexican food. It's not as good as in Texas but for South America, it comes to as close as you can get at restaurante Como Agua Para Chocolate. Authentic Peruvian food can get old but I do still love Aji de Gallina. The restaurant you were eating at in Barranco with your travel blog friends IS NOT AUTHENTIC PERUVIAN FOOD and that is why it is so good! Lima does have amazing chefs and Peru offers many ingredients that are very unique only to Peru and that is why Lima won the Culinary Destination of the World Award in 2012, 2013, and 2015! Another great place for great food in Peru is Mancora Peru, a 21 hour bus ride or you can fly to Piura and take a 3 or 4 hour bus from Piura to Mancora, a small coastal town famous for surfing!
Any person visiting Lima should not leave without trying the Chicharron sandwich at La Lucha, other places make good Chicharron sandwiches but I like the Salsa Ricotta sauce at La Lucha the best, it is the hottest imo of other sandwich places. Also the best Shawarma in South America, possibly the world is at Tarboush located directly across the street from Parque Kennedy about 5 storefronts down from Starbucks.
Lomo Saltaldo, you are partly correct in saying that it has soy sauce but it is Peru's own style of soy sauce with Aji No Moto (MSG) called sillao sauce.
Ceviche is on every street in Peru, not just the coast and I absolutely can not stand to eat it. If I want something that tastes like a lime, I will drink lime juice!
Really you know Peru
Glad you love Peru as much as we do! We just love trying different foods from different places. We've never had Mexican food here yet but maybe we'll have a look 😉 We absolutely loved the Mexico food in Ciudad de Mexico and Oaxaca. Also we have to say that the best shawarma will no doubt be far east from here. So far Israel and Palestine has the best shawarma we have ever tried 😊 thanks for watching
With food this yummy, one can never have too many recommendations here in Peru 😊
You are right, Mexican food is not popular in Peru, there are very few places with mexican food. I lived in Dallas and Mexican food is almost local food. Peruvian food is so good and diverse that you have no need to look something else. BTW chifas, pollo a la brasa and seafood are the most popular among peruvians.
We have to agree, there's so much goof Peruvian food there's no need to look further! We've tried some of those foods already but not all so it looks like our food trip continues 😁
Would Love to finish your vid only if you include the prices of those foods
You are insanely beautiful and really entertaining as well, something difficult to find in a woman
Thanks for watching!
Guys, what’s the face mask situation outside in public places? I’ve heard it’s mandatory to have it on, but you/others in the video usually don’t have it on. Is anyone forcing you into wearing one? I have no issues wearing one inside, but outside sounds excessive…
Hey there! The rules for face masks in Peru are based off the percentage of people who have a certain dose of vaccines, so the regulations can change based on the percentage of population vaccinated. In our 6 weeks there we did have to wear masks inside always, and even 2 masks in grocery stores and malls. However, outdoors it wasn't mandatory from what we understood. Many locals still wore masks outside as you can see in the videos, but we were never told to put them on if we weren't wearing ours.
@@nicoleandmico Thanks for a quick reply, super helpful and quite reassuring! When did you go to Peru, was it July this year? They introduced new mask rules recently I think?
Yes we actually just left there last week! I'm not sure when they last changed the mask rules, but as of last week that was the situation 🙂
Mercado 28 is a bad place to get food btw. Try proper restaurants
Is the first time that I am watching your video, and to be honest, I did not appreciate your way of saying you dont like Ceviche, especially when the other person is eating and enjoying it. It is disrespectful. It is disrespectful. No need to do that reaccion of 🤮. It is a no no.😉
It is because I do not like seafood, which Mico knows 😉 It has nothing to do with the ceviche, I just really don't like seafood
