THANKS NURSE RYAN, the way you explain the process makes it so easy to understand, NOT to mention how much information provided! Again THANKS
Thank you for the kind words! Always happy to help 😊
A wonderful St. Elizabeth home care nurse explained Cheyne-Stokes to me. I was caring for my late partner, who died of AIDS in 1994. I bless her name frequently, for preparing me so kindly. The passing was calm and quiet.
Thank you for sharing your story. I'm sorry you went through that. I hope everyone has a nurse like that when they experience something similar.
Thanks for putting in the sound. I can now visualise
I hope it was helpful! 🙂
Thank you for this explanation of the Cheyne Stokes breathing pattern.
Happy to help!
@NurseRyan My brother suffered an SAH and was immediately Level 3 Glascow Coma Scale. The EMS report stated Cheyne Stokes's breathing, and he has always wondered what that was. He survived following the coiling procedure to stop the hemorrhaging. No true neurological deficits. He's a trooper ✝️
Thanks Nurse Ryan
Happy to help! 🙂
Is it more common to exhibit the pattern when you first fall asleep and close to waking up? I just started cpap and that is the trend I'm seeing so far.
That's a good question! I looked it up and according to sleepfoundation.org, "This pattern mostly occurs during sleep, particularly stage one and stage two non-REM sleep, but can also occur while awake." Hopefully someone else can add their experiences, as I don't have any more information about it. I would definitely recommend asking your doctor about it too!
Thank you so much
Happy to help 😊
Central sleep apnea often occurs if you take Antipatalet medications like Plavix or Brilique. Ruins your brain and your memory, until you die, unless you discover that the medication is to blame. 5 days after i stopped, Central apnea disappeared, and after a couple of years my brain was back to normal. Weired experience. 😅
I'm sorry that you had to to through that! Glad to hear you're doing better now. Thanks for sharing 🙂
❤thank you
Happy to help! 😊
Many people on CPAP can develop central Apneas and C-S breathing.
That's true! Treatment-emergent central sleep apnea is a cause of CPAP use.
Thank you
Happy to help! 🙂
Imagine you go back home and see the whole house trashed with the word cheyne stoking graffitied into the walls
😅

Can this be caused by altitude?
I have read online that it can be caused in high altitudes, especially to those not used to high altitudes, but I do not have any personal experience in that setting.
My mom's (end of life) apnea is 70 seconds. Any guess on how long before she stops breathing?
I'm really sorry to hear that. 70 seconds is a very long period for end of life apnea. You can never know how long it will be, but my guess is that it wouldn't be long.
I recently was diagnosed as having Heart Failure. I watched a few videos on the subject to find that this type of breathing is associated with End of Life symptoms. Does this mean I may die soon like a few years from now?
Are you alive sir??? 😢
@@mambamentality2663 Yep, I'm still here just trying to enjoy the days.
Hi, sorry for the very late response, I missed your comment!
I would always recommend speaking to your doctor or pharmacist for any actual medical advice, as these videos are meant only for educational purposes! That being said, I hope that you are doing well these days.
What is the mechanism of cheyne stokes breathing and heart failure?
I would recommend reading "CHEYNE-STOKES RESPIRATION IN PATIENTS WITH CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE: CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES" (doi: 10.1590/S1807-59322005000400012) which goes into depth about the topic!
Is this what a pilot would describe as “air hunger”?
From what I have read, Kussmaul's breathing is the so called "air hunger". I have a video on Kussmaul's breathing here: ruclips.net/video/DsoHklbYop0/видео.htmlsi=2KcyN1yindN0A3pb
My name is literally cheyne (shane)
😅
L like it 🤎🤎🤎🤎keep going
