I picked this record up because of you! Incredible for a late night listening session. Vinyl adds something special into the mix, definately with a good setup and subwoofer for that extra 'thump' feeling like you're in an intimate basement jazz club.
Thanks for recommending this. My copy just arrived this morning and it sounds superb. A little bit of noise on the pressing here and there, but I've decanted the records to polylined inners and a proper clean would sort out any other problems. It's definitely very atmospheric as you said. I can see me listening to this loud and in the dark many times.
This is so great. I've enjoyed their first few albums for years digitally and have only recently dived into the vinyl realm. This was an lp that I had to have early on and was available and I couldn't pass it up. It's such a wonderful soundscape and is a wonderful addition to the collection!
Hey Jarrett! I don't think I can thank you enough, not only for teaching such valuable things about the vinyl world, but also sharing this awesome music. I usually listen to Rock/Heavy metal music but I found this music really enjoyable and preordered my vinyl :) Anyway, I just wanted to thank you and keep up the good job :)
Omg, Jarrett I was so hype when mine arrived, still is in wrapping, and will be for a long time. set it up in my record shelf so I can see it from anywhere in my room.
ive been waiting for this video!! i can't recall what song you said they were repressing it and you said you preordered it, so i've been slowly waiting for you to get it :) Love it!
Hey!!!!! I know this is an old video but I finally got my copy!! I live in the uk and had to order from Berlin you put me on to this album and it’s now one of my favourites thank you so much!
I've never really been into Jazz music. I've always been an indie/Rock fan so I would have never in a million years have thought to buy this album, but I enjoy your videos and so trusted your opinion. I bought it last week and wow, I've never been so relaxed sitting in front of the fire! Thank you for introducing me to this! :-)
Bought Sunset Mission based on your rec. Now I was challenged to review Piano Nights. I’m definitely mentioning you in my video! Thanks so much for everything.
Holy crap this album is addictive and sinks into your bones. I'm glad I ordered the vinyl record. I just hope the rumors of a poor quality pressing don't materialize.
How did it sound? Did it live up to your expectations? I heard there were some problems with the European pressing and was just curious. Thanks for introducing me to this band.
"MINT" is a great magazine about the vinyl culture with lots of great recommendations of current vinyl releases from every genre you can imagine. And there are lots of great turntable reviews and articles like "Why do people think, that coloured vinyl sounds worse?". So, you really orderded it all the way from Germany? Great! :D
Hey Jarrett, I just got my copy of this in the mail and it appears to have been damaged in shipping. Do I have any recourse? Do you have any advice? This is my first time to buy an album via mail. This might make a good video topic.
After you mentioned it on your past video I checked it out on youtube and couldn't get enough. You had another video saying they were taking preorders so I got mine from the same site you got yours. My favorite song is on Side C and it takes up the whole side. Pretty awesome and thanks for the heads up on this one.
I thankfully stumbled across this band about an hour ago. I've been wanting an album exactly like this for a while after hearing the jazz sound from Rivers of Nihil's Where Owls Know My Name, and wanted just something that was just the dark ambient noir style. Everything I've heard from them so far is perfect. I just ordered this one and Black Earth and I can't wait to receive them. Makes me think of Vangelis. Particularly the Love Theme from Blade runner.
Great vid Jarret!! hey, since you listen to a lot of music, do you know any neo-psychedelic band that I can listen to? or anything close to pyschedelic rock?
Hi! I'm new to vinyl and record players and I have a kind of a stupid question I guess.. Should i buy "vintage" vinyls and pay like 100+ dollars or should i just go with like 20 dollars vinyls. I am very confused. The old ones sound better? Yesterday I was shopping vinyl for the first time and I found two versions of one of my favourite album from The doors and one was from 67' and one from 2010 or something and the price difference was quite big and I don't know which one to get
Greatings from Norway:) After watching Your initial video i put in an order for both The vinyl and cd... i was not let down when they arrived last week in the mail! Thanks for the tip👍🔊
I preordered that album after watching your other video. Unfortunately, mine was sent back to the company for whatever reason & they are trying to resend it to me. So I'm still waiting for mine to get here :/ I hope you're enjoying yours though!!!
I paused the video right when you pulled the tab on the shipping container (had to flip The Swords' High Country over to side C), and right before I unpaused it I thought "If that record comes out of that package broken, this video is going to get very depressing." Glad it had a good ending.
Nice video. I didn't even know about this reissue and I'll be going for this one know that I know it is out. PIAS, by the way, is an acronym for Play It Again Sam ;)
One of my favourite albums. I haven't bought the vinyl, though, because every review I read complains about the poor sound quality; saying it's a bad pressing. Do you disagree? PIAS has a bad reputation in that regard anyway. Keep up the great work!
I almost got this record on you recommendation after watching you top 5 vid. I listened to it on google play and RUclips and thought it was ok... for some reason I didn't pull the trigger. Maybe I'll give it another listen and reconsider.
This album is so good, I also love a band called Mt. Kilimanjaro Dark Jazz Orchestra and a band called Dakota Suite. You’re probably already aware of both of these bands but if not you should definitely scope them out. 🖤
my copy of sunset mission (thank you for bringing this band into my life!) has a lot of cracks and pops in it when played. It got a bit better after playing it for 3-4 times though. Was yours ok? I enjoy your videos! Keep it up! :)
That means there's a lot of static built up in the groove. Gotta find yourself an anti-static brush meant for records. It also can mean there's a lot of dust particles in the groove.
Nitrous Oxide thank you for your help. I use my anti static brush every time on a record before playing it. In my case the pops come from dust/dirt in the grooves.
You upgraded your speakers, now upgrade those headphones! If you use them mostly at home Sennheiser HD 600, If mostly on the go Sony MDR-1A or Audio Technica ATH-MSR7
Given that bands these days will be recording and mixing their music digitally I'm not sure what point you're making. Also, when it comes to re-releases of older albums the original master tapes might be lost or degraded to such an extent that they're useless.
junglejamesie I'm saying that when records were pressed back in the day the musicians used live performance with actual people playing drums piano and everything. Today singers use drum machines and the vinyl today doesn't give that natural sound anymore
very Cool :) You orderd the vinyl From the german shop jpc :)by the way :) Mint is a very good magazine about the Vinyl Culture :) And there are many Record Reviews in there to ;) Greetings from Austria😊😊😊You should also Listen to Johann Sebastian Bass ;) Great Group From Vienna/AT :)
I got that record, but pressing is bad, full of loud pops and clicks. I cannot relax and listen to ambient jazz hearing loud gunshots. Side B is especially bad.
Thank you so much for introducing me to Bohren! I’d’ve never discovered these guys on my own and they scratch an itch I never knew I had!
I got this record 2 weeks ago. It is incredibly good. Have listen to it so many times. Thank you for showing it to me.
Thank you so much for making me discover Bohren & Der Club Of Gore!!! :o I seriously can't stop listening to them, now!
+Johnny L. So glad you like them Johnny! They're the best!
crazy how your channel has grown, I found it when you had 1000-ish subscribers and was starting my vinyl collection. now i have 20+ records, cheers :)
I picked this record up because of you! Incredible for a late night listening session. Vinyl adds something special into the mix, definately with a good setup and subwoofer for that extra 'thump' feeling like you're in an intimate basement jazz club.
I was totally expecting one of the records to be cracked in half like that one time lol
Not cool, bro. Just ordered mine, shipped from the EU... :|
+junglejamesie I'm so glad you like it! Excellent music! Really gets inside your head!
That mint magazine thing that came with the lp featured one of my favorite albums on the cover, in the court of the Crimson King by King Crimson
Its my number 1 album of all time
This is so great. I've enjoyed their first few albums for years digitally and have only recently dived into the vinyl realm. This was an lp that I had to have early on and was available and I couldn't pass it up. It's such a wonderful soundscape and is a wonderful addition to the collection!
the smile on your face when you opened it... I know the feeling!
I cant stop listening to this Album... thanks
+Leon Lambropoulos no problem Leon!
I got this record 2 weeks ago. Listened to it @ 3AM really set the mood for that night.
Brilliant album. One of my all time favourites as well.
I got mine a couple of days ago. I already gave it a listen over the weekend. this album is amazing.
I'm happy to see you finally got it!
Thanks to you i'm getting this album next
+Matthew Schindler nice!
Sunset Mission and Black Earth are both in my Top 10 albums of all time.
Staub is pret great also
Omg, Jarrett I was so hype when mine arrived, still is in wrapping, and will be for a long time. set it up in my record shelf so I can see it from anywhere in my room.
thanks for turning us on to such an amazing album. as of yet only heard it off youtube, can only imagine it on vinyl.
+Dennis Waske I first discovered in on RUclips also! It's great!
I'm glad you made this, I've never heard of this band. I'm really digging it.
ive been waiting for this video!! i can't recall what song you said they were repressing it and you said you preordered it, so i've been slowly waiting for you to get it :) Love it!
+Kerry Doyle yeah! I'm so happy I got it in! Got it proudly on my wall now haha
You should've made it: IT'S VINYLLY HERE! Kinda disappointed in the title, still a good video though!
Hey!!!!! I know this is an old video but I finally got my copy!! I live in the uk and had to order from Berlin you put me on to this album and it’s now one of my favourites thank you so much!
Your videos are great! I listen more to cassettes than to records, but I love both.
+schoie2004 no problem! Glad you like it!!
Mine came a couple of weeks ago. The black sleeves seemed to be in some kind of intimate relationship with the vinyl, and didn't want to be parted.
Bought Sunset Mission based on your rec. Now I was challenged to review Piano Nights. I’m definitely mentioning you in my video! Thanks so much for everything.
I plan on starting a collection soon and this is definitely gonna be one of my first albums to buy, no question! I absolutely love this album!
Holy crap this album is addictive and sinks into your bones. I'm glad I ordered the vinyl record. I just hope the rumors of a poor quality pressing don't materialize.
it's SUCH a great album! You're gonna love it. I haven't had a problem with it, it's a good quality pressing.
Awesome. Glad to hear.
How did it sound? Did it live up to your expectations? I heard there were some problems with the European pressing and was just curious. Thanks for introducing me to this band.
Due to the amount of songs on each side, is this played back in 33 or 45 rpm? Great video.
+mike leone it plays at 33!
I remember you putting up that original most wanted albums video. So cool you could finally get it!
Truly a vary dark and moody first track. Will be listening to more of it. Thanks for the heads up on this interesting album. :)
My top favourite album was the beginning of my vinyl collection: In A Gadda Da Vida. I love it so much.
Great video im not into vinyl but I'm considering getting into it when I'm a bit older
One of the best albums ever!!!
Love the feeling of getting a new record, its like a record-high!
Great! :D
+MrChrodo cool! Didn't know that! Yes all the way from Germany!
So happy for you! Really want that album too, but I'm broke :/ lol. Know I've told you before, but love your videos!
+helenehaugenh aww no worries lol, thank you so much for watching Helene! :)
Hey Jarrett, I just got my copy of this in the mail and it appears to have been damaged in shipping. Do I have any recourse? Do you have any advice? This is my first time to buy an album via mail. This might make a good video topic.
im so happy for you!
+training archive thank you! Mission accomplished!
After you mentioned it on your past video I checked it out on youtube and couldn't get enough. You had another video saying they were taking preorders so I got mine from the same site you got yours. My favorite song is on Side C and it takes up the whole side. Pretty awesome and thanks for the heads up on this one.
Will give this a listen on Apple Music first. Thanks for the suggestion mate. Glad you could finally get it!
I just got mine too! It's fantastic
+Eddie Baust sweet!
What a record and case, how do you display it every side is worth displaying. If only it was colored vinyl, but it's about the music.
Surprised you are replacing those gorgeous black paper sleeves - I think they would add to the feeling!
Great vid Jarret!! hey, since you listen to a lot of music, do you know any neo-psychedelic band that I can listen to? or anything close to pyschedelic rock?

How do your headphones sound on vinyl?
+Bruce Verbeken excellent, they're the most clear and defined headphones I've ever owned. And they've held up great, they still look new!
Greatings from Norway:) After watching Your initial video i put in an order for both The vinyl and cd... i was not let down when they arrived last week in the mail! Thanks for the tip👍🔊
Great video huge fan
+Sam Hatch thanks for watching Sam!
You are the best👍🏽
+Reda Alalawi thanks man!
Hey Jarret could you tell me if ion max turntables are good? thanks!
I have one and I really like it. It does the job and allows me to play my vinyl ;)
I preordered that album after watching your other video. Unfortunately, mine was sent back to the company for whatever reason & they are trying to resend it to me. So I'm still waiting for mine to get here :/
I hope you're enjoying yours though!!!

Glad it had a good ending.
+300DBenz haha that would've been terrible! Thankfully it didn't turn out that way!
What headphones are you wearing
+EcUz STUN the Audio Technica ATHM50X's!
in my list of vinyls I want, bohrens piano nights is in my top 5!
Where can I find this record now?
What is that lamp over the turntable?
+Perplexer1 that's an LED desk light by OxyLED! They're pretty cool!
Nice video. I didn't even know about this reissue and I'll be going for this one know that I know it is out. PIAS, by the way, is an acronym for Play It Again Sam ;)
what do people think about the Audioengine A5+ Active Speakers.
One of my favourite albums. I haven't bought the vinyl, though, because every review I read complains about the poor sound quality; saying it's a bad pressing. Do you disagree? PIAS has a bad reputation in that regard anyway. Keep up the great work!
Wich turntable would you recommend for someone who wants to iniciate a vinyl collection
I have a Audio technica lp120, and was looking into a tube amp, would you recommend that? Or would it work with that turntable?
There's any record store in florida selling this record?
my copy of sunset mission (thank you for bringing this band into my life!) has a lot of cracks and pops in it when played. It got a bit better after playing it for 3-4 times though. Was yours ok?
I enjoy your videos! Keep it up! :)

Yeah, it could also be caused by the Paper Sleeve the records came in.
im (hopefully ) getting this for (the dutch version) of christmas!
I like the front cover. Nice video!😉👌👍
Hey Jarrett, are you on Discogs?
i have spent ages trying to find this video as i could not remember what that band was called
I got mine today. Still did not unbox it.
You upgraded your speakers, now upgrade those headphones! If you use them mostly at home Sennheiser HD 600, If mostly on the go Sony MDR-1A or Audio Technica ATH-MSR7
You missed a trick there - it is 'vinylly' here
Yo how do I send you stuff
+Stephen Papa hey Stephen! My P.O. Box address is in the description of this video! Thanks man!
Thank you for review, more album reviews, please.
Mellow it is, nice and romantic and driftable.......sounds to me like they slowed this recording down, big time, and released it.
good video keep it up
+HustleBerry thanks HustleBerry! I will!
I only but my vinyl from the 50s to the early eighties. when you buy new vinyl it's just digital music pressed on the record
Not all the time, But I know where your coming from
The Beatles LP reissues used 24-bit digital masters, so IMO you get the best of both worlds.
Well you're obviously listening to the wrong bands ....loads of artists out there that play and record with real instruments
It doesn't matter though it's still cool to have the vinyl anyway i guess lol👍
i have bad news. Crosleys are now popping up on the price is right as prizes!
Westley West uh oh
you mean Play It Again Sam?
by the way when you gonna get some reel to reel tapes made and show off that thing
i need it!
i thought u said "Vinylly here" (finally)
I'm guessing it was worth the wait ;)
very Cool :) You orderd the vinyl From the german shop jpc :)by the way :) Mint is a very good magazine about the Vinyl Culture :) And there are many Record Reviews in there to ;) Greetings from Austria😊😊😊You should also Listen to Johann Sebastian Bass ;) Great Group From Vienna/AT :)
I got that record, but pressing is bad, full of loud pops and clicks. I cannot relax and listen to ambient jazz hearing loud gunshots. Side B is especially bad.
its out of stock mate :/
Can buy it here mate www.discogs.com/sell/list?master_id=60848&ev=mb
it's already out of stock
Mine came before yours! 😋
Oh and I fucking love your channel! You've taught me so much! Thanks!
I adore their music, but my god, every time I stop listening to it, I keep noticing how it affects my mood badly
sunset mession It's good either sound quality is not good😔 piano nights better than it
Just beAutiful
Why do you tease your subscribers? You make a point of fawning over these albums while you unwrap them, but never let us hear any of them.
+Daniel Pena can't risk RUclips copyright violations.
