And so, organizing an attack on the corporation that controlled the shield.
To give this film it due, as bad as it is was, at least they experimented with the lore. It can’t be worse the the source. Personally I believe they should of done highlander 2 set in the past. They had over 400 years to play with
Exactly. I remember seeing these as a kid and after watching part 1 I wondered how there could have been a part 2. I assumed it must have been a prequel. I asked a kid at school how this could’ve been a sequel and he said more immortals came from another planet. I was like what? I rented and almost popped the tape out because it didn’t seem like Highlander. Then the title screen came. Then the 500 years ago title card… 🤦♂️
At least it wasn't boring like Highlander 3 through Highlander The Source were. This is so bad and wacky that it's at least entertaining in its badness.
Highlander II is certainly not without major flaws and issues, but it's still got some pretty good action scenes including this one. Sure the hoverboards and jetpacks don't exactly fit into the Highlander world but this is still a pretty badass sequence, and I respect that it was done in-camera with nothing digital. Contrast that with the boring CGIfests you see these days. Corda and Reno aren't liked by many, but I thought they were fun and memorable villains. Despite how dimwitted they are, they're both still pretty dangerous and threatening, and far moreso than the main villain. Katana is a fun villain but he sure is incompetant and a bad fighter; these two actually pose a serious threat, and clearly revel in the carnage they cause.
As bad as the movie is, I have to say that the hover board chase scene is a cool moment of practical effects at work. It’s a fun scene that feels like it was from a better movie.
Funny thing, I’d never seen the original (was too young at that point), but I strongly remember the hoverboard clip they used in a trailer and was somewhat interested (reminded me of the air foil from Tale Spin).
A far better idea for a sequel, change the concept and move to the next chapter. McCloud is still immortal and the only one left, and is trying to make society better … but there are mortal forces opposing him. He's up against clandestine govt agencies and while he's immortal and super skilled, he doesn't have his own army. What if it's a variation of the Watchers from the series? Or a group set up by a now dead immortal as a fail safe. Or just secret spook group that want to know how come he's immortal and can they possibly copy it … thinking its biological instead of magic. Perhaps when he wasn't paying attention the govt became totalitarian and now he's got to overthrow it.
It's much better than most Marvell full CGI scenes I've seen. It's a pleasure to watch this kind of fight with real actors. This is something very rare to see these days.
I think they even called hoverboard fight a lost art on behind the scenes documentary cuz today those scenes would be done in front of green screen and cgi
It’s actually not a bad set piece comsidering the size of the set and the wire work. Though if I’m remembering correctly, this is the directors cut version, so most of the hoverboard scenes are sped up as they should be. The theatrical unsurprisingly made this scene shittier by playing the wire work shots at real speed, which made it look cheap since they’re going like 5 mph.

You have the rights to a cult classic where you can't lose and this is what you come up with?
As ridiculous as this movie was, and everyone involved has said that they completely ignore that this movie was ever made, it still entertained me enough to enjoy watching the BS...
Per me film bellissimo e da oscar.e vero seguito unico ad highlander 1.riguardo il telefilm nulla di contrario,ha fatto la storia cinematografica anche esso.
Here is my idea for the Highlander reboot Highlander 1: Connor dies and ressurects as an immortal, met Ramirez and trains him but the Kurgan killed Ramirez, and then he faced the Kurgan but escapes and he kills a new evil immortal character not included in the original. Highlander 2: After the death of his wife in the flashback scene he travelled the world to gain knowledge and then he meet Nakano , a sorcerer swordsman who is also an immortal. He told him that Kane and Kurgan are allies, and then Kane fights Connor but lost but Nakano protects himand escapes, but Kane successfully killed Nakano in the process but this time he is not imprisoned but also escapes, fast forward to the present Connor fight the Kurgan but Kane intervene and let Kurgan escapes again and ithe process Connor fight Kane and succeed. Highlander 3: Set in the future ( just like in Highlander 2 but this time no concept of immortals as being aliens from another planet) this is where Connor and Kurgan finally fight each other in the final showdown, in other words The Gathering. This version of Highlander where there is no Duncan Mcleod.
Dilemma of the whole Franchise: The first movie didn´t allow a sequel in so far as Connor has been the very last immortal in the outcome, gained the price and turned mortal again. The magic ended once and for all. No turning back, no possible backdoor. There are few if not zero further examples in movie history that made a sequel THAT impossible. There would have been the possibility of a "Sequel" set BEFORE the Highlander finale (semi prequel, if you like).....the TV show, for example, but they messed that up, too, at least in a chronological kind of way. So, the whole Franchise is an incoherent mess, with part 2 being one of the worst and most embarrassing sequels in movie history.
could have easily made a sequel that made sense and worked, this shit just come about because the producers wrote stupid shit in desperation for a massive hit. Highlander was certainly not impossible to make a sequel to that was good and made sense it is a fantasy film after all there are no hard and fast rules if you can make it up you can find a way out of it too!

- Koomer McLOUD of *CLANG! McLOUD* in Highlander II: The Quicken The Deaf
How did they get past the shield?
Is that Christopher Lambert's real voice on this French dubbed version?
That's wierd those two devices they use to fly with our now being used today by flyers...
At least they tried to do something different with highlander 2
Highlander II: Things Explode, Because Reasons
Everyone acting like this is bad. It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen
I remember watching this for the first time when I chose this movie over several others in the video store. I was enjoying it until I saw this scene with the asshole laughing like that with his tongue out and thought this is stupid. I was in second grade btw and already knew this was corny. You have the rights to a cult classic where you can't lose and this is what you come up with?
Can we PLEASE stop reminding us that this film even exists?!
As long as it exists, Connor is alive!
Apart of this scene one, the final fight vs. General Katana was a good scene too, though the audio is in French language.
As ridiculous as this movie was, and everyone involved has said that they completely ignore that this movie was ever made, it still entertained me enough to enjoy watching the BS...
Probably the best movie ever made.
🤙
*Worst
THIS was the highlander movie that should NOT have been made
wtf was April O'neil doing out there
Macloud you bojo! Those boards dont work on water! Unless you got power!
Per me film bellissimo e da oscar.e vero seguito unico ad highlander 1.riguardo il telefilm nulla di contrario,ha fatto la storia cinematografica anche esso.
Here is my idea for the Highlander reboot
Highlander 1: Connor dies and ressurects as an immortal, met Ramirez and trains him but the Kurgan killed Ramirez, and then he faced the Kurgan but escapes and he kills a new evil immortal character not included in the original.
This movie is absolutely brilliant and hardly anyone realizes it XD
Connor: oh my old hip.
i remember Blade Runner
That s how they Inspired for Malone, evil mime clown in n Highlander Animated.
Is this the Streets of Fire set?
Train cut badguy head....so it should gain his power xddddd
It lacked explosions.
Greatest film ever made.
А продолжение как salope потянул после обновления!?
I kind of dig Stewart Copeland’s soundtrack though
I have Connor MacLeod's Katana and it is my pride & joy cost me over £150 for it from Colwyn Bay Wales well worth it there can be only one.
Did Christopher Lambert dub himself in this French dub version? It sounds like his voice.
Well, he's got dual citizenship, IIRC (French/American), his parents were French, he's French speaking, so makes sense it was him
Yes it's weird!
Regardless of other peoples views, I like Highlander 2!
Same.
So do I.
you may but it still is inconsistent
Why do these two immortals look like Tim Burton twins that look like belong in a Tim Burton movie?
Dilemma of the whole Franchise:
The first movie didn´t allow a sequel in so far as Connor has been the very last immortal in the outcome, gained the price and turned mortal again.
@@roobear78let’s do two scenarios
Ziest
Instead of 500 years ago, it was 500,000 thousand years ago on planet Ziest. They are placed on earth will they will be reborn. There can be only one.
Renegade
They don’t come from an ancient yet technologically advanced society. Instead kitana is from ziest as he too is an immortal and the game is universal and not just earth bound
Kitana is an alien who comes to earth to challenge the one they call Mac loud.
As with Ramirez, in the zoest version he and Connor and Kitana are all aliens and he and Conner are both reborn on earth as punishment for their treason and must participate in the game in order to have their freedom and faith restored. As for their sentence on earth , once reborn, and once upon first death, they shall be immortal and fight till there is only one.
In the renegade, he is called back by the quickening.
The first highlander: legendary
Third highlander: good
Highlander the series: unforgettably awesome
Every highlander movie after highlander 3: could've been better but I wouldn't say they were bad
Highlander the quickening: you watch it once and then you never wanna watch it again after you've seen just how obnoxiously terrible it is.
And then, there’s Highlander: The Source… which makes HL2 look like a masterpiece.
@@Cellmate412162 yeah the source was pretty bad but still played out better than HL2 did even though HL2 had a better acting cast the source had a better storyboard. At least it didn't mess with the plot of the other HL movies like HL2 did.
Even the first one was average.
@@Cellmate412162 And then Endgame made The source looks like masterpiece.
Highlander Endgame is awful
Sorry, I'm still just seeing a blank screen. Everyone knows the Highlander movies went, Highlander to Highlander 3.
The Dune, Dark city, Life Force , Alien, Predator series are still kick ass compared to this
Peak Cinema
Very expensive and still absolutely ridiculous
Jaspion! one ga o QUEEEE DAAAAAAAA
I hope they got permission from George Lucas to use those storm trooper rifle sounds.
Best movie ever.
Sean Connnery must have been desparate
It was reported, at the time of filming in 1990, he was paid $3 million.
The sex scene in the movie is so short and hilarious
